"its just ok - not worth the price"
Great front desk staff. Poor restaurant staff, rude and slow or nice and slow. Nice big pool. Pretty beach. Really pretty bay. But the tides and currents made it my least favorite beach to visit. "Okay - But Not Great"
The resort was nice. The food was below average and overpriced. The resort is really remote and not close to anything. So rent a car or you will have to pay a lot of money on cabs. If you want to be closer to everything I would not stay here. On average it can take you up to an hour to get from the airport to the resort. "Not great for young people"
This is not a hotel for young people. Not at all. Its very far from all the activities. Recommended for people who just want a quiet peaceful time without activities. To go to Phillipsburg cost $15 either way and that where anything is happening. I would recommend for young people to go to a hotel near the airport. Overall stay ok - Bellhops great - food service workers need better attitudes - bartender needs to remember to actually put alcohol in drinks. "Ok, but wont stay here again"
The hotel is clean, the food is average but the service is just awful. Servers at the pool, bar, resturants and casino are not at all attentive. I dont think they have figured out yet that the more they take care of their guests, majority Americans from what I could tell, the more we tip!! Im glad to say I won enough money at their casino to pay for […] everything I did while at the hotel or Id be kind of upset. The pit boss even had the nerve to tell a person that was betting heavy at the table to walk to the bar instead of calling a server over. They just dont get it!!! "Westin St Maarten"
The Westin was pleasant enough, but we referred to it as the 'nearly' hotel because they so nearly (but not quite) got things right. The location is good, and is relatively quiet for the island. You either love it or hate it. Driving to the Westin when you are first time visitors to the island is difficult, as there are literally no signs and the hotels […] own website shows the location wrongly! The roads in the area are challenging with their potholes and steep gradients. Staff at the hotel are friendly, but not all are naturals when it comes to customer service. The hotel is reasonably new, but does have that tired look in some of the corridors with peeling paint on some ceilings and stained carpets. We had tea/coffee making facilities in the room but they never replenished the tea after day 1 and stopped bringing new paper cups from day 2. If you want to enjoy a little TV at the end of your day, the Westin is not your spot. Very few channels and very fuzzy picture. Why bother with large flat screens when the signal is so poor? Food at the restaurant is good, if a little pricey for a big family, and there are a number of good restaurants around Oyster Bay, we particularly liked Canoa and Big Fish which were cheaper and provided more 'island' feel. Swimming pool is fine but small, two levels and OK pool bar; service around the pool is good, but a bit frustrating to have to hire a cabana ($57) to get any shade as there are no big sunbrellas available. I was bothered with bug bites while sleeping. I would go to bed with nothing on my skin and wake up with red lesions in several places on my legs. I am aware that bed bugs are a real problem again in our society due to so much international travel. "Hot water issue"
This was a beautiful hotel with a great beach as well. The location of the hotel was convenient to the areas we drove to. Our only issue was that of hot water for one night and then the following morning. This put a damper on an otherwise great vacation. "Sometimes Impressed and sometimes not"
The facility is very nice and well kept. The service was often good but not consistently good. it seemed like the staff needed more training so everyone knew how to provide the service that Westin is famous for providing. Fiquei decepcionado com o atendimento dos funcionários do hotel. Parecia que éramos importantes para eles. Logo na chegada, por volta das 21:40 hs, ocorreu demora na localização das bagagens recem desembarcadas, pois o maleteiro havia se ausentado com elas, misturadas com as de outros clientes. Por isso, somente chegamos ao restaurante para jantar às […] 22.20 hs e o encontramos fechado. Indagada, a funcionário interna respondeu que o restaurante fechava às 22:30 hs e que a cozinha estava fechada. Entendo que nos deixaram sem jantar sem justificativa. Lamentável.
