Wellenberg Swiss Q Zurich Hotel

This is one of the best hotels I've been in Europe. I am mid-twenties American in the military and I absolutely loved this hotel. Great way to spend two nights with your loved one. My girlfriend was also impressed with the style and decor and friendliness of the concierge. Very helpful. Breakfast was decent and the locality to a variety of bars and […] restauraunts was a plus. The price was just right for the room size and the ammenities available. The only downside is that there is no immediate designated parking. You can stop in front of hotel to check-in/check-out, but long term is a 5 minute walk away over the river at uriahanas park house which was 44 Euro a day.....don't park in any other because they charge 2 euro per 15 minutes after 3 hours. We were thrilled when we arrived at Wellenberg. Our room was large and clean. The bathroom was also roomy and had all of the amenities. Excellent location, very modern and cozy rooms at the same time. The girls in the front desk multi-lingual, very nice and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. The location was just perfect, in the old area of the town, several sturbucks around the corner, wonderful restaurants all around and nice shopping.

I really loved staying at Hotel Wellenberg in October 2011. It was about 20 minute shuttle ride from the airport, conveniently located in Old Town Zurich. The staff was wonderful, breakfast was good, and the rooms were nice. Very happy with my stay there!

A spacious hotel in Zurich though internet is not free. The breakfast was excellent and the breakfast crew were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is included in the hotel price which is great considering that prices in Zurich are not "wallet friendly". The location of the hotel to the train station, bus terminal, restaurants and some attractions […] is unbeatable. The hotel was close to River Limmat which is great for a picturesque walk. We had a room which was quiet though I noticed that some evenings got rowdy with so many bars nearby. Keeping the window shut diminished the noise significantly. This in turn became a problem on some nights because there was no air conditioner in our room and the room got quite hot and stuffy. The table fan helped somewhat. Don't rely upon the staff to wake you when you request a wake up call. The staff forgot to call three of the eight nights we were there which was not a big deal since we used that method as a second means to wake us up but it could be a real problem for someone who wants to catch a flight and leaves the alarm to a sleepy or inattentive receptionist. My only real criticism was that I had requested an early check in and called and confirmed it with a hotel staff before arriving at the hotel. When we got there at 8:00 a.m., we found that the room could not be ready until 2:00 and the receptionist was extremely rude about it. Other than this one rude individual and the check in issue, our stay was simply fabulous. Read more

We arrived early so had to wait about one hour for our room to be ready...but this was fine because the hotel offered us to go to the free breakfast buffet to wait. We enjoyed a relaxing breakfast and when we were done, our bags had been taken to our room which was ready. The room was much larger than we had anticipated with a beautiful, up-to-date […] bathroom. Stayed in a double twin room, beds do roll apart if you are not a couple. Size of room was nice, plenty of space. Only strange thing, but it didn't bother us - no clock. Hotel staff was extremely courteous. 5-7 minute walk from the main train station (or 3 minute tram ride. The #4 tram runs every 10 minutes I think). Train runs immediately next to the airport, so it's a 10 minute ride to/from the station. Hotel located in middle of shopping area, with many restaurants around. TV was small, but several English speaking channels were available. Had decently thick towels. Has no air conditioners, so be careful in the summer. Internet connections cost extra! Must buy the 90 minute Value Card for multiple logins. The 30minute card is good for only a single login (learned this the hard way). Zurich is expensive and so was this hotel, but the service made up for the price. Pros: The location is walkable from the train station and in a very lively fun part of town. The service. The Hotel Wellenberg is part of a large square in the Old Town section of Zurich. It is surrounded by small shops and great places to eat. The tram is just a short walk from the hotel, and it is easy to travel to different city sites. The hotel is very well situated in the town center of Zurich. We had a large family room for 4. The only problem we have with the hotel is that is has no airco and with an outside temperature around 30 degrees it's unbearable at night. We arrived with a jetlag and really needed our sleep.They gave us a small fan but that didn't help. Opening the windows […] didn't help either since the hotel is in the middle of the center with outdoor restaurants, and Friday night everyone is out. Even at 3 a.m. there was still a lot of noice outside. At check out we complained about the heat, and lack of sleep, in the hotel, with several other guests also complaining, and they explained that they want to install airco but the town won't allow them, it's a historic building. A delightfully spacious room (204) overlooking the square below. Modern facilities and a good quality restaurant. We were made most welcome. The walk from the station with heavy suitcases was a challenge, but our taxi driver to the airport was the nicest chauffeur ever! And the snow made it magical!

we enjoyed our short stay at the Wellenberg - the staff were personable, accommodating and very helpful. the room was nice- well laid out, comfy bed and great view (we were at the back of the hotel, so had a view of the roofs of other buildings and mountains). The hotel is both near the railway station and bus terminus but is also in the old part of the city which is lovely. I always stay there when going to Zurich on business. Dozens of restaurants line Niederdorf strasse outside. It has everything.

Located very conveniently in the tourist district of Zurich. 7 mins walk from the Central station and very near the main shopping area. At the door step of all the nice eating out places. Visited for 2 nights in July 2011 with my wife and 2 sons (12 and 15). The hotel is RIGHT in the middle of town. 50 metres from the beautiful river and surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops etc. We were located on the fourth floor. The lake is only about 200 metres from the hotel - so its easy to stroll everywhere. The weekend markets were big - but also cruisey. A great hotel, perfect for staying in Zurich, close to Train station, numerous places to pick up a free bicycle to roam around the lake and enjoy a swim in the summer. We really enjoyed our stay here. Every member of the staff was very nice and polite, and always willing to help. Except the absence of air conditioning in our room, the rest was very nice. It did get vey hot, but by the time we returned, there was a cool change, and we could sleep well.

This hotel more than met our expectations. The room although not large was immaculately clean. We only had a shower in the bathroom but was more than sufficient. A nice touch was the complimentary slippers plus tea making facilities in the room The breakfast was good and lovely to have it in the courtyard on a warm sunny morning.
