While the hotel is not in the center of the city, it is easily accessible by various bus routes. The buses run frequently on week days and relatively so on weekends. PUR is a unique experience. The hotel staff is excellent, the room decor is unique. Location is convenient and public transport in Quebec City is extremely convenient and accessible. There are some excellent restaurants, pubs and nightclubs within a short walking distance. If you are planning on walking to the old city, though, you need to factor in […] the vertical distance--it's quite a climb, and that makes it a more strenuous walk than it might appear to be on the map. I liked the decor. The only negatives that came up in my assessment were: 1) no coffee maker in the room. Great espresso machine downstairs in the lobby, but if you need that hit of caffeine first thing when you wake up, it's not so good. 2) shower--the shower head is a style that can be hand held, but did not stay in a fixed position very effectively when we were using it. Storage--There is no dresser in the room, and a tiny chest of drawers in the closet that is really too small to be useful. We enjoyed our stay, liked the minimilist artistic style, also like the neighborhood with nearby restaurants and shops. It is a bit of a walk to historic old Quebec but enjoyable. "Great non-touristy location"
Very nice, modern hotel in a cool location in Quebec. "Hotel PUR -- a relaxing oasis in Quebec City"
My husband and I stayed at Hotel PUR for 3 nights in September 2010 during a 2-week trip to Canada. I'm still wanting to return to the hotel, as none of the other hotels in other cities compare to Hotel PUR. It is surprising that this hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel because it has an indoor pool, fitness center, high quality bedding, brand-new bathroom […] features, free computers and printer in the lobby, and a free coffee/espresso machine in the lobby. I love the chic and modern style of this hotel! The staff is friendly and helpful. I've stayed on the 15th floor looking onto the west side which offers a great view. The valvet parking is $15/day which is not bad. Best of all, they offer free and awesome cappucino..! Also, I know alot of people complained about the location being away from Old Quebec. […] I don't see this as a big problem because it is only a 15 minutes walk to all major attractions. If you'll be staying there in the summer, you have to check out the free Cirque Du Soleil - Les Chemins Invisibles. It is only minutes walk from the hotel which is awesome! The only drawback about this hotel is that the hallway is too dark. If they want to save energy, they should install motion sensor activated lightings instead. The staff were very nice and we like the neighbourhood but the rooms are very badly arranged. There is nowhere to take your boots off when you come in so you track water right beside the bathroom. My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Pur during the Civic long weekend at the beginning of August. I enjoyed my stay there very much and honestly, I have nothing really negative to say about the hotel. The rooms are very clean (except they really need to fix the ceiling in the bathroom - it's made of a cheap looking plaster, which is beginning to grow […] some mold) The entire hotel is very neat and tidy also. I loved the facilities - the swimming pool and fitness centre are top notch ( I have seen many inadequate hotel pools and fitness centres). I also loved the free espresso machine in the lobby. The rooms are somewhat small, and there aren't many spots to store clothing. But the bed was very comfortable (it's shaped like a pull-out couch...very interesting) The bathroom is cool and offbeat but quite impractical. The sink is shaped like a bowl but it's difficult to wash your face without water splashing everywhere. The shower stall has no door, so water also splashes everywhere. The free products are by Aveda, which is a nice touch. The hotel is not located right in the Old City, so it's a bit of a hike up a hill to get there (about 10-15 minutes, but I didn't mind because it lowers the price, plus it's a bit quieter. "Hotel PUR in Quebec City - Highly advise you visit"
Decided to take my girlfriend on a vacation to Quebec City for her birthday, and took advantage of Hotels.com while doing so. First off, use these guys because the service fees are at least 25% lower than any competing service. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with courteous service and an excellent locale. We had a Sky King One room, and let me tell […] you the views are magnificent and the room very tastefully appointed. It felt modern, with a sense of comfort and luxury not usually afforded to places I have been before at similar prices. The sheets Egyptian cotton, the fixtures seemingly brand new, the rooms quiet and well maintained. The gym was well fitted, and offered a traveler the best of amenities to keep himself Active while the fellow female companion enjoyed a peaceful slumber. As for the location, it is amazing how much Google Maps will lie to you, unintentionally of course. Not only is it a mere 10 minute walk to Place d'Youville, the entrance to and Mecca of the old city, but the pleasant walk takes you past artisan shops and waterfalled parks, in a gentle way of working off your latest piece of Maple pudding. In addition, the surrounding borough of Saint Roch is something to commend, as I would suggest both La Brulerie St Roch and their fantastic caffeinated pick me ups, as well as as le Clocher Penche for a most wonderful breakfast. All in all, you can't possibly ask for a better time to be had in Quebec City, nor a more courteous and atentive staff.
