I was there for three nights with my family. Hotel is great compared to its star rating. It is clean, hotel staff are helpful and it's located walking distance from everything. The Hotel Pur is located just down the hill on the other side of the old city...like a 15 minute walk. "PUR excellence"
Both the staff and the room were outstanding. I stayed in a king suite, which had a lot of room for belongings and lounging around... not that I'm much for spending time in the hotel on vacation. About a 15 minute walk to all the old town tourist sites so there was no need to do anything with my car other than drop it off at the valet until it was time […] to go. It is extremely trendy, which may or may not be to your liking. Two minor complaints: 1) I've never seen valet service be taxed before but it is here. 2) When I went to their restaurant for breakfast, about 20 minutes before breakfast was supposed to end, no one was around to seat or serve me. "Not such a great night in Quebec City"
My wife and I found a dirty comforter on our bed, but the remaining fixtures and linens looked clean. We went to bed around 11 PM and were awoken by a party on the floor above us. After calling the receptionist 3 times, the hotel security failed to stop the party-goers the floor above us and we did not get any sleep. When I complained to the front desk […] in person at 4:30 AM, the staffer just said that the 17th floor had been fully rented out to a single party and that security had tried numerous times to quiet them down. Everything about this hotel did not disappoint. After a less than satisfactory experience at a similarly priced hotel in Montreal, we were prepared for something similar. Overall our experience was O.K. but, we were disappointed with the lack of furniture in the room the dresser drawers were about half what is a normal hotel and there were only three. The sofa had backing on only a fourth of the sofa was in no way practical for us. They provided us with one plastic outdoor chair, a crappy sofa and a bed. we found the […] half size dresser drawers useless - so we just lived out of our suit cases. Additionally the pillows provided were very small and uncomfortable. Plus the bath tub was plugged up and it took them two tries - two separate days to finally get it unplugged. Honestly we wished we would have chosen another hotel. Since the room was already prepaid we tried to make the best of it and not complaint about all the things about our room that we didnt like - by doing this we were able to enjoy our visit to quebec and not spend all our time complaining and getting angry and fustrated. "Not interested in returning"
Location: yes, it is in downtown Quebec but not close to main tourist sites. With such a cold weather, look to book somewhere closer to the river (Le Concorde is a great option). This hotel is supposed to be a four star, according to who? They don't even have Room Service 24 H (even for breakfast we had to go down to the restaurant). Food at the restaurant […] is good, but they are understaffed and not properly trained. Why would you sit somebody at a table don't offer a beverage and just leave them there wondering what to do. Nobody explained that it was only buffet given that it was New Year's Day or explained the rates until I asked. I had to go to the bar to get some OJ as servers took a long time to come by. Dinner was good food wise, but again the server was overwhelmed with the number of guests and she did her best. Guestrooms are OK, but great quality is not there. The room ventilation system does not work properly, after a shower your room will get very hot. BTW, if you are looking for a bathub make sure you ask for it. It's on the hotel pictures, but our room didn't have one. Perhaps only the larger rooms or suites. For me, this was a Holiday Inn type of hotel dressed up. If you are on a budget and not expecting much, go for it. However, for the rate paid you can get something better for just a few more dollars and at a better location. Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Room was clean but very small. The room is decorated with great taste. The bed was comfortable but the pillows are really horrible. With this type of hotel, I would of expected much better, so word of advice, bring your own pillows!! Staff is friendly and very well informed. But the good thing is that, there is a coffee shop right next to the hotel, which is affordable and they have excellent breakfast and coffee. Very clean hotel and close to major roads. We drove up from Montreal, followed the highway to Quebec, made a left turn and was at the hotel.
