"It's right on the Metro"
Let's start with the good points: it's close to the metro, car parking is free. Not so good points: hotel is tired and needs a refresh, rooms feel grubby as does the bathroom.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Sandman is super convenient to the subway and the area is fine. Its a clean place to stay...no frills. There are some nice restaurants in the local downtown area you can drive to without going over the bridge into Montreal. The free wi-fi internet is is weak and sporadic and the halls and elevators in the hotel are very hot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Location Next to Metro"
The hotel staff is friendly, but the rooms are clean but worn. Our room had a busted shower rod so the shower curtain drooped. The location is the main draw, park your car and walk across the street to the entrance to the Metro station, then you are a quick 15 or 20 minute trip to Old Montreal, downtown, the Biodome, or Planetarium.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Easy access to Montreal"
The hotel needs some TLC but has an excellent location next to the Metro Station.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wireless keep dropping off"
Wireless keep dropping off on floor 16 , I have to get my data from cell phone its cost me $ 110 for data download and upload. I can’t hookup Ethernet cable on my tablet.Genuine Expedia guest review
The sheets had blood stain on them, they did not change them. The pillows and cases were dirty and also contained blood stain on them.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Need better food selection.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Plus: Clean, OK size rooms. Minus: Hallways not air conditioned - 90+ degrees. Too few elevators - always make you wait. Charge equal to stay for "incidentals" without permission - (Unacceptable) Internet - so pitifully slow it is not worth even trying to use. Microscopic pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walking distance to Metro"
Rooms were small, clean. No fridge or microwave. No breakfast included. Have to pay $9 per person. Metro is just outside of the hotel, which is good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Montreal hotel with free parking"
location very close to subway, free parking. nice poolGenuine Expedia guest review
"Time for Renovation"
It was okay, since I was with my wife. Everything in the room is old, time for renovationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room itself was nice, but the bathroom needed a good cleaning. Food and drinks were decent. If the bathroom was simply vacuumed I would have given it 4 stars.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Its just rude!!"
This is the fourth or fifth time that I have stayed at this hotel. Reason being the location was convenient, the rates are reasonable and it had a few of the necessary amenities that I needed to make my stay enjoyable. Unfortunately, this last visit really burnt my biscuit. You see every time I go there is something missing. First time it was finding […] out that the restaurant had limited hours and did not provide room service. Another time it was discovering that the pool was out of order due to some issue. This time though it was a combination of things that makes me rethink coming back. Upon arrival there was no "welcome back" from the front desk. I've been there 5x. Come on! That is customer service 101. Get to the room (which is nice with a decent view) only to discover a less than stellar cleaning job, No coffee pot, bath robe and half used toiletries still in the bathroom. Also. the ice machine on my floor was broken, Which is a bummer but the fact that there was note to indicate the fact just made me livid. Common courtesy. Lastly, the restaurant was closed. I presumed it was due to the holiday. Now since I have been here before and I know that the restaurant has off hours I bring several meals with me so I'm not bothered with trekking out to find a meal. But jeez! Send out an email when booking the room that the restaurant is going to be closed for 10+ days!!! Its small things like this combined with past in-fractures that makes me rethink a return visit. "Not as good as expected"
The room has some smells, even though it is a smoke free room. The overall 4 star rating seems over rated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed here many times. Unfortunately, this visit will make me think twice about staying again. The ice maker was broken on floors 15, 16 and 17. And the air conditioner on my room would freeze up and stop working, usually in the middle of the night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great staff, room not so good"
The staff was very friendly. However the pictures provided on the website are deceiving. Our room was older and not updated like we saw on the pictures. There was also mold all over the ceiling in the bathroom.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A nice hotel for the price"
All in all, an OK hotel. Location for accessing the city via the metro was great if you like using the metro. You are not going to get a better hotel in the city for the same price. Parking was limited but we had no problem. Free parking but sometimes it was difficult to get the gate to raise. Didn't eat at the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location. Quick check-in. My son loved the pool. Condition of the room is the main downside. Need to upgrade the rooms and bathroomsGenuine Expedia guest review
TERRIBLE noise, children running everywhere, banging on doors, up and down the hallways and stairways. Pool completely inaccessible due to TONS of kids running, screaming, jumping. There is VERY poor management on this property. It used to be a very upscale Radisson, but now, it has gone to the dogs. Multiple ice machines not working. Card readers not […] working. BAD maintenance all the way around. I stayed here many times, but never, ever again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location next to metro, Hotel clean"
Great location. Hotel clean but not great. Had alot of international travels and busesGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK but not outstanding"
Restaurant but no room service. No conveniently good restaurants near and easy to get to. Awkward entrance. Staff friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is nothing like it looks in the pictures - rooms are a bit shabby although everything is clean. Also, they put $160CA 'on hold' from our account without telling us. Apparently this was incase we damaged the room, but the money effectively left our account with no explanation. staff are very helpful and friendly, and it's great that the hotel […] is next to a train station, but I think I would have rather stayed in the old town - that area was amazing!! "Decent, No Frills Place to Stay"
I stayed here on a short trip to Montreal and was generally satisfied. The Sandman Hotel is just over the Jacques Cartier Bridge from Montreal, so it's very convenient to the City (but with free parking, unlike most of the hotels in the Montreal proper). My room was clean and relatively quiet and comfortable, if a bit more "no frills" than I would have […] expected from an upscale-looking high-rise hotel. The bilingual staff was very helpful and courteous. The only real downside was that the hotel can be somewhat difficult to get to, given all the confusing, criss-crossing access roads, highways, bridge ramps, etc. in the area where the hotel is located (not helped by quite a bit of road construction during the period of time I was there). I would very likely stay there again on a future visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The perfect location..."
I think the major plus for the Sandman is it's proximity to the subway, allowing easy access to Montreal and surrounding areas. I found the hotel staff to be friendly. I thought the up keep of the Hotel was lacking and could be improved on. Overall I enjoyed my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Sandman Hotel Location"
This hotel sits in the middle of a spaghetti bowl of streets and highways, my directions from Google maps had 9 steps to get to the highway I needed to go south. The highway was viewable from their parking lot. Also, we arrived on a rainy day, after entering the gated parking lot, there was no way to drive under the carport to check in. We got soaked […] in the check in process. There is a way to drive in from the back of the hotel get under the carport, however, there are no signs when you arrive indicating so. Nice hotel when you don' t get one in Montreal. It's located right in front of the Metro, so Montreal is only about 10min ride.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Elegant but decadent in a convenient location"
Carpets were good, but 20 years passed by.... leaving undeletabable registers. Beds are delicious and linens fantastic. Bathrooms spacious. Hotel has a uncontroled parking for cars, but metro Station is 1min walking distance. We wasn't offered Breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our stay was pleasant and we would stay there again. We were particularly inpressed with the breakfeast menu.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's a simple thing"
I have stayed at The Sandman several times. The last two times I politely suggested that slow, basically unusable internet was not acceptable in 2013. I was assured they were upgrading but they did not upgrade. It's a simple thing, there's not much I don't like about this hotel, but I will not stay in any hotel that can't be bothered to offer fast usable […] internet in all of the rooms. "Proximity to subway"
Nice location, room is clean. Friendly staff .the only complain is the loud noise from AC when it is On.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Sandman Hotel Montreal-Longueuil"
Since we first time go to Montreal, we lost our way, and hotel staff guided us on the phone to get the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wifi coverage is extremely poorGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not going back"
This hotel wasn't that bad but the location and access to it off the confusing highways was not the greatest if you are there to see Montreal. In terms of improvements they should clean the mould in the bathrooms and may be improve the WIFI that was very sometimish.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a bad experience"
There was no fridge in the room. I was told by the staff they have only 10 fridges in the entire hotel. Rest all the same range of hotels in the area breakfast included with the price but here was extra.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Sandman Inn Montreal"
The restaurant in the hotel is not open in 24 hrs and it is difficult to find food late in the evening other than fast food. Great location for the subway. Reasonable rate for rooms. The continental breakfast is good. The swimming pool is nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff were very helpful and the free parking was what sold us on the hotel. The room was clean but had a musty smell in the bathroom. Overall would return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Insanely close to the subway system"
Hotel is fine. Not super luxurious but a good price-quality ratio. Super convenient for business meetings in downtown Montreal. Parking is included in the room price so we don't have to cross any bridges and find parking. Nothing much around (at walking distance), so in the evening you have to take your car to go out to dinner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great for La Ronde, Parc Jean Drapeau, metro. Tim hortons, McDonald's across road. Good parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was good only thing was missing a microwave and coffee machine was in washroom.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Sandman was in a great location, close to downtown Montreal. The hotel was dated and the pool was very disappointing, more like a large hot tub. The was no fridge or microwave in the room and the air conditioner was very dated and loud . Service was fine and the bar downstairs was satisfactory.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We called the hotel to confirm if they provided bathroom amenities in which they said yes, everything would be there. Upon arrival, we noticed that there weren't any bath gel, instead only soap was provided (lotion, shampoo and conditioner were provided) so we went to front desk to get some. They told us that they ran out of bath gel. 2 days later (our […] last day), we asked them again and they said they don't have any. For one, I'm not sure if they even offered any in the first place and if they did, I'm not sure why they ran out of stock for at least 3 days (the total duration of our stay). My boyfriend also went to ask Front Desk how to get to Underground City for shopping and the rep had no clue. She instead told him to go to Eaton Centre. I told him to go and ask again the next day, hopefully it would be another rep. This time, the new rep explained that Eaton Centre was in fact connected with all the other malls through the underground path. Therefore, I'm not sure how these locals and working at a hotel have no clue what we're talking about or they could have at least provided a bit more explanation. At last, the hotel looks pretty run down on the outside and not to mention the inside, the elevators weren't at all pleasing as well as the ice machine was our of service during our entire stay. "Best location for F1 fan"
There is no better location for the F1 weekend; subway just cross the street, one stop to the circuit; six stops to Montreal downtown; but hotel has no restaurant - just breakfast buffet for $ 20 / person; ideal for the out of town racing fans, otherwise ...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Room for improvement"
The hotel is dated, clercks were polite. Room cleanliness was poor. Found a hair in the coffee cups. Sheets seemed clean, bed were confortable. They replaced the old TV for a flat screen during my stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It was fine..."
...but not great. The check in staff member was unaccommodating. He would not take my credit card which has chip and pin technology even though that is the most secure. He wanted an imprint of my card. When I told him I had no other options, he made me pay cash which was refunded later. He could have just charged my credit card the same amount as the […] cash. He was really terrible and if I hadn't pre-paid, I would have gone somewhere else. The hotel itself is old, and could use a makeover, but is fine overall. It's located right beside the subway terminal, so getting downtown is pretty easy and cheaper than parking downtown. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for a short time"
It accommodated our needs. Staff was delightful and very helpful even with the language difference.Genuine Expedia guest review
First time we've stayed at this hotel and last. Too close to 2 major highways and at times difficult to merge onto highway. It snowed for 2 full days along with freezing rain and the parking lot was not cleaned. Bathroom door would not stay closed. No fan in bathroom. Created a sauna in room. Pool area was very dark and water was cold.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a nice stay, clean and comfortable but not fabulous. it was far from everything except metro station so I didn't like the location. the worst thing was breakfast. it was awful!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A bit run down"
Ok for the price, but seems a bit run down. The heat wasn't working in the pool room, so swimming was uncomfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We ve stayed there before, mainly for the location but pretty satisfied overall. This room had a bit of a strange smell in it that we couldnèt place. Otherwise OK.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
