I booked this hotel at the last minute, sitting in Logan Airport in late evening due to flight delay, as I realized I would not arrive at my friends' home at a reasonable hour (before midnight) and did not want to inconvenience them. "Monte Carlo Inn Airport Suite" given the title, description that it's near Pearson International, has shuttle service, […] and rated 3-star. None of those were exactly true. It's far away (15KM), the opposite direction from Toronto; the shuttle costs $7CD each way; and both night and morning staff were rude and even hostile when I remarked the description is misleading. Worse, I was not informed that the shuttle had to be booked one hour in advance the day of departure as I was checking out and inquiring about a ride and that I could not be driven to the airport if I were not flying out! In the lobby, there is a brightly colored poster that says something like "free breakfast" with picture of eggs, breakfast meat, etc. What one gets is continental. Had I known, just based on the location (Don't know Toronto area geography.), I would never have booked this place. Read more

The reception desk service was excellent on my arrival and I was informed of the free wireless Internet in the room as well as at the Lobby, plus complimentary breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m.. It was reasonably good value for the money. The room was clean although there were a lack of available outlets for my laptop. I had to unplug the microwave to get a plug for it. The room was clean and no complaints there. My only unpleasant experience involved the over vigilant breakfast lady who watched me like a hawk and kept questioning my food choices. […] She wanted to sell the eggs which cost extra. Challenges: Horrible location too far from airport; $8.00 charge for shuttle; kitchen closes at 10:00 - impossible when arriving from the west coas; very old room, especially electrics, impossible to plug in laptop or cell phone without moving furniture, loud in room air/heat. Hotel restaurant was easily the highlight of the hotel! The new owner does a great job of making sure you are happy and the food (Butter Chicken) was absolutely delicious. They didn't have any free toothpaste which is quite inconvenient. Nice and close to the convention center which is where my event was located.

This was probably my worst hotel experience in a long time. Our distributor reserved us rooms here at a negotiated corporate rate. We had three rooms reserved for one night. Needless to say, our distributor will not put up his guests here anymore. The rooms were dirty. I found trash in cabinets from the guests before , in the drawer under the TV and […] the the drawer below the microwave. The coffee packs were already opened and not replaced. The safety chain lock was missing. The beds are hard, and we all three walk about with our backs aching. The carpet is dirty, makes you questions whether you want to take your shoes off. On the walls were the remains of colored paper taped, obviously remnants from a "party" in this room before. The air-conditioning cannot be turned off, so I had pull the electric plug to get some quiet time. The electric outlets can only be found behind the drawer the TV sits on and behind the cabinet with the refrigerator. So if you want to plug in your laptop cable of iphone charge, get ready to "move" some furniture. And these are heavy, almost pulled my back. Why would design the desk are with no electric outlet? Other hotels have table lamps with an electric outlet. Don't think you will get a good "free" breakfast. You have to get a voucher first from the lobby. The big fruit plate is not refrigerated or cooled and you wonder how long it will take before some gets sick. A younger child with long air was in line in front of me and her hair ended up in the fruits. Needless to say, I picked the fruits far away from from the counter edge with a hope of less contamination. The small toaster has very hot surfaces which is, in my opinion, dangerous for younger children. And when we went to the small hotel bar for a beer to drink down that hotel experience, they charged us $8.50 (!) per beer. And it was flat. Save your money and spend a night somewhere else. However, if you are a non smoker you must ensure that you get a room that is on a non-smoking floor also because my experience was that I had a non-smoking room in a section of the hotel that was smoking. I booked this hotel expecting nothing. It turns out, the place was really nice and very convenient from the airport and from downtown Toronto. The Service in the Hotel was great. Overall, it was fine. The breakfast was minimal and there were couple of glitches in the room (the shower control didn't work properly, the heater only worked on high heat which could therefore not be left on for the night).

This hotel is a little tired in its decor but if others you know are staying at that expensive place up the street you will be really, really happy that you saved some dough and stayed here. Breakfast will be better too.There is a geo cache close by so check it out in a spare few minutes.
