Great rate on a longer stay in the city - very close to McGill and Musée de Beaux Arts, 1 block from Metro. First time seeing a hotel with wooden floors, and that was a great thing for my allergies! Room had a lot of unique charm, very quiet (faced back alley), beautiful chandelier and fireplace. François-Xavier at front desk was alway super-friendly […] and helpful (suggested a great poutinerie and some good sights to see). Breakfast was a little lack-luster, but still convenient, and they were still clearly doing some renovations in the hotel (supplies in back hallway by our room, tv in room was newly and slightly awkwardly mounted on wall, loose faucet fixture in bathroom). Those didn't spoil our stay at all, we had a great time, and really enjoyed staying somewhere that didn't look like the Days Inn you find anywhere. Felt like staying in someone's home. Read more

The reception staff were very friendly and super helpful with giving directions and recommendations to 'foreigners' on food, bars, things to do and they were very patient with us. Room was like a regular bedroom but very cozy and homey. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, its lovely. Cant wait to go back in the summer :)

A small builing just around the corner from giant hotel buildings, so the neighborhood/location is good. There were bus stops and metro stations nearby (a 3-day pass for busses and the subway was $18) that got us anywhere we needed to be. Staff was helpful. If you need parking, call ahead and reserve it because they only have 4 spots available, however […] I reserved a spot only 3 nights before traveling without a problem. The building itself is really interesting and made it feel like we were staying in a part of historical montreal, rather than visiting the city during the day and going to some boring hotel room at night. Was looking for a romantic hotel at a reasonable price and Manoir Ambrose definitely fits the bill. Hotel rooms are gorgeous and found the beds to be very comfortable. Location was excellent - short trip from the airport using the express bus and close to the Peel STM stop. Also within walking distance to core area of nightlife. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Manoir Ambrose during the second week of January. Neither one of us had ever been to Montreal, and as we are both students in our late twenties, we were looking for something affordable but also charming, and also a place that made access to the rest of the city easy: Manoir Ambrose fits all of those qualifications to […] a tee. We opted for the "classic double" room and although it was small it had everything we needed for our 4 night stay: a desk, a small sitting area with Victorian style chairs, a double bed with a warm and very clean down comforter and pillows, and a small yet clean bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The room was very warm with a new heating element on the wall and we had one window to the outside. Our little room made us feel as though we were really in the "Paris of North America" as many people have nick-named Montreal. Although many reviewers have given the lack of elevator negative remarks, the stairs were not a problem for us at all--based on the reviews we were expecting a tower of stairs up to the third floor (where our room was) but they were very moderate victorian stairs with maybe only 20 steps for each level--not bad at all. Finally, the Manoir Ambrose has truly captured and maintained a lot of the beauty of its old Victorian past--all of the moldings are gorgeous and the breakfast area is bright and cheery and well-appointed with a selection of foods to please even the pickiest of eaters. The concierge staff was friendly and warm and even allowed us to eat breakfast when we arrived 15 minutes after the closing hour of 10:30am. We will certainly stay at Manoir Ambrose on all of our return trips to this wonderful city. Read more

Our stay was brief (one night), but pleasant. The Location is great-- walking distance to Mont Royal, St. Catherine St. and the Old City. The room was relatively small, but for the price and length of stay, it was totally fine. The private bath was pretty large and very clean. The hotel was also very quiet. One downfall was the lack of elevator, which […] if you're on the top (third) floor like we were, means a bit of a climb. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and even helped my boyfriend find a (free!) parking spot on the street. I can't say that such a space always exists, but we really lucked out. We Loved it!! When do you ever get a chance to stay in a hotel that is 100 years old. Loved all the original interior pieces. Rooms are a bit small, but very comfortable for two people. Stayed for two nights in a small room for a good price. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bathroom was cramped but servicable. Knus hotel in het centrum van de stad. Kamer is netjes verzorgd. Het ontbijt is prima maar verwacht niet een heel buffet. In het ontbijt gedeelte kun je de hele dag gratis koffie/thee/sap en ijsklontjes krijgen. Ook staat er een magnetron die iedereen kan gebruiken. Tot 23.00 uur is er iemand aan de receptie. Bij je kamersleutel krijg je ook een sleutel […] van het hotel voor als je na 23.00 uur naar binnen wilt. Vanaf het hotel is het 2 blokken naar het dichtsbijzijnde metro station. Op 10 minuten lopen ligt het mooie "Parc du Mont-Royal" vanwaar je een prachtig uitzicht hebt over de stad (neem wel stevige schoenen mee). Parkeren is moeilijk en het is ingewikkeld wanneer je wel en niet voor de deur mag staan. Maar in de buurt zijn diverse (betaalde) parkeerplaatsen. Houd er rekening mee dat het hotel geen lift heeft en dat je veel trappen op en af moet. wij hadden grote koffers mee, dit was dus flink slepen. Read more

Pour ce qui est de l'hotel, belle architecture (magnifique), tres bel accueil chaleureux et personnel souriant. Petit hic, les frais de stationnement ne sont pas inclus dans le prix de la chambre il faut donc y prévoir 15$ de plus au prix de la chambre.
