I loved how the room looked. This was my second time staying at this hotel and both time it was clean and the service was good. Each room seems to have a character also, both beautiful old victorian. The first time, I had a room on the second floor with shared bath. I loved the room and the shared bath was a little inconvenient but not much of a problem. […] This time, I had the first floor with a private bathroom and beautiful high ceiling but the noise from the second floor was pretty bad - I could hear all of their conversation until 3 in the morning. I don't think the people were particularly loud. They were just talking and this old victorian house has very poorly soundproofed rooms. I admit that I am a bit more sensitive to the noise than others but I couldn't sleep until 3am because of the noise. I wouldn't really stay there again unless it's really cheap, since the location is very nice. Read more

The hotel was close to McGill University allowing my daughter to easily moved into her dorm. The location was safe and quiet. The staff was friendly and professional, they spoke english, french and spanish fluently making it easy to request for assistance. Breakfast was simple but delicious. It was amazing. My grandmother and I loved the hotel, the location was fabulous, especially with its proximity to McGill Uni. where we were visiting. It's close enough to the downtown area where we didn't need to drive anywhere. The only downside is that you are lucky if you get a spot for the private parking, but there are enough parking garages nearby […] that it isn't too much of an issue. the hotel is very well located , but I think they ought to warn somebody about the items that are uncomfortable for the aged or physically handicapped people about the conditions characteristic of this hotel and I am refering to the placing of the room , that there were not waiters available and no elevator .

Excellent location and good value. Not a luxury hotel, but satisfies all your basic needs. We parked on street when checking-in (easy in afternoon to find a space, impossible on workday morning), so parking was free. Safe neigborhood, close to museums and University. The room size was 1/3 the size of the photo, too small for 2 adults who are not a couple. I had asked for a "trundle bed" knowing the full size bed would be too small for my adult daughter and I. However, the room was too small for a trundle bed to fit in it, even if they were able to carry it up the 70+ steps to our room. VERY charming, old hotel which was probably 2 apartment buildings originally. Beautiful old decor, funky stairs from one half of the building to the other, very funky tub setup in our room, which required some gazelle-like moves to enter and exit. The worst part is the plumbing, which is extremely noisy running through the walls and can actually wake […] you up when someone else is using it. Tried a bath at 1 a.m., but only tepid water at that hour. In the morning, plenty of hot water, but you have to be careful because the temperature fluctuates wildly when you're showering. Their parking was full when we arrived at 3:30, so had to use the garage down the street to the tune of $22 for an overnight. Also awkward to access your car on the weekend because the garage is closed and the building it's under is, too. You have to wait for a security guard to let you in. But the bed was comfortable, the visit satisfying. Read more

It was a very short stay for us but we loved it! Aside from the absence of the elevator to bring your stuff to the second floor, everything was great! The location of the hotel is terrific as it is very close to the main night life scene of the city. Complementary breakfast was very good and super handy!

I loved it. I thought it was so quaint. So Victorian. High ceilings with coving and chandeliers. Beautiful architecture. I thought the staff was so sweet and accommodating. Very friendly and helpful. True, no elevator. But that's part of the charm of staying in a Victorian. Circular staircases and plaster mouldings. The breakfast was wonderful. Plenty of it, too. Cereal, oatmeal, danish, croissant, muffins, assorted breads for toast, orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate, teas, fresh fruit, sometimes quiche. It was great. The location is really good for shopping and dining. It's close to the Metro. It's very close to Art galleries and museums. And just two or three blocks from anything. We stayed two nights and found the accommodations quite comfortable. Being a renovated Victorian, there are no elevators, so we carried our stuff up two flights- good to keep in mind if this is an issue for you. The bed was comfortable, not hard at all, and A/C worked well, even on the third floor. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Location couldn't be beat, and though there is very little parking on site, there are private, monitored garages on the next street over. All shops and eateries are only blocks away, and very accessible by walking. Metro stations 2 blocks away. I stayed here very last minute, and it was very reasonably priced for such a good downtown location. It's steps from the main streets (Ste. Catherine, Maisoneuve). It's several blocks from Sainte Laurante where all the English/Americans like to go out. The front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful and spoke English very well. Be ready to haul your bag up at least 2 flights of stairs! Pretty good location, but a conversion of 2 old houses leaves some parts of the hotel being pretty nice and some being pretty shabby. Good location for the price, very friendly hotel staff. Hotel with character, including spiral stairs which are a daily wokout if on the third floor, small room, and even smaller shower. Breakfast is barely worth a mention, consisting of tiny croissants and hard boiled eggs - no jam or butter provided.

Very good choice for its price. The building is old and there is no elevator. On the plus side, my room was clean, spacious, warm, and equipped with a huge TV! The alarm clock with iPod / iPhone dock was also a nice touch. The staff was very friendly too. Within walking distance from the Mont Royale park, downtown, and the old city.

We got a room that had a huge crack in the ceiling and looked like it was about to fall down on us. There was mold in the bathroom. Breakfast was good but condition of our room was not up to the standard of the review.

They have a very cute little setup for the breakfasts that they provide, and the staff are absolutely amazingly friendly and helpful! The rooms are very clean and while they are Victorian in style, they have very modern amenities, and are very clean. I would definitely come back to this quaint hotel!

Included high ceilings, tall windows (from the floor to the ceiling), comfortable bed, de-attached sink (not in bathroom), electronics (flatscreen TV, iPod alarm doc, etc.). Staff was very courteous and helpful with any questions we had on local venues, directions, store hours, etc. Breakfast was great! I usually don't care […] enough to comment on continental breakfasts at hotels but they served great pastries, cereals, bread and drinks (juice, coffee, tea). Very pleasing.
