Great rate on a longer stay in the city - very close to McGill and Musée de Beaux Arts, 1 block from Metro. First time seeing a hotel with wooden floors, and that was a great thing for my allergies! Room had a lot of unique charm, very quiet (faced back alley), beautiful chandelier and fireplace. François-Xavier at front desk was alway super-friendly […] and helpful (suggested a great poutinerie and some good sights to see). Breakfast was a little lack-luster, but still convenient, and they were still clearly doing some renovations in the hotel (supplies in back hallway by our room, tv in room was newly and slightly awkwardly mounted on wall, loose faucet fixture in bathroom). Those didn't spoil our stay at all, we had a great time, and really enjoyed staying somewhere that didn't look like the Days Inn you find anywhere. Felt like staying in someone's home. Read more

The reception staff were very friendly and super helpful with giving directions and recommendations to 'foreigners' on food, bars, things to do and they were very patient with us. Room was like a regular bedroom but very cozy and homey. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, its lovely. Cant wait to go back in the summer :)

The hotel was close to McGill University allowing my daughter to easily moved into her dorm. The location was safe and quiet. The staff was friendly and professional, they spoke english, french and spanish fluently making it easy to request for assistance. Breakfast was simple but delicious. It was amazing. My grandmother and I loved the hotel, the location was fabulous, especially with its proximity to McGill Uni. where we were visiting. It's close enough to the downtown area where we didn't need to drive anywhere. The only downside is that you are lucky if you get a spot for the private parking, but there are enough parking garages nearby […] that it isn't too much of an issue. Was looking for a romantic hotel at a reasonable price and Manoir Ambrose definitely fits the bill. Hotel rooms are gorgeous and found the beds to be very comfortable. Location was excellent - short trip from the airport using the express bus and close to the Peel STM stop. Also within walking distance to core area of nightlife. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Manoir Ambrose during the second week of January. Neither one of us had ever been to Montreal, and as we are both students in our late twenties, we were looking for something affordable but also charming, and also a place that made access to the rest of the city easy: Manoir Ambrose fits all of those qualifications to […] a tee. We opted for the "classic double" room and although it was small it had everything we needed for our 4 night stay: a desk, a small sitting area with Victorian style chairs, a double bed with a warm and very clean down comforter and pillows, and a small yet clean bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The room was very warm with a new heating element on the wall and we had one window to the outside. Our little room made us feel as though we were really in the "Paris of North America" as many people have nick-named Montreal. Although many reviewers have given the lack of elevator negative remarks, the stairs were not a problem for us at all--based on the reviews we were expecting a tower of stairs up to the third floor (where our room was) but they were very moderate victorian stairs with maybe only 20 steps for each level--not bad at all. Finally, the Manoir Ambrose has truly captured and maintained a lot of the beauty of its old Victorian past--all of the moldings are gorgeous and the breakfast area is bright and cheery and well-appointed with a selection of foods to please even the pickiest of eaters. The concierge staff was friendly and warm and even allowed us to eat breakfast when we arrived 15 minutes after the closing hour of 10:30am. We will certainly stay at Manoir Ambrose on all of our return trips to this wonderful city. Read more

I loved it. I thought it was so quaint. So Victorian. High ceilings with coving and chandeliers. Beautiful architecture. I thought the staff was so sweet and accommodating. Very friendly and helpful. The bed was clean and comfy. My room was quiet and I was never disturbed by other guests or noises even though the hotel was full all week. A nice big […] bathroom with instant hot water. True, no elevator. But that's part of the charm of staying in a Victorian. Circular staircases and plaster mouldings. The breakfast was wonderful. Plenty of it, too. Cereal, oatmeal, danish, croissant, muffins, assorted breads for toast, orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate, teas, fresh fruit, sometimes quiche. It was great. The location is really good for shopping and dining. It's close to the Metro. It's very close to Art galleries and museums. And just two or three blocks from anything. Being a renovated Victorian, there are no elevators, so we carried our stuff up two flights- good to keep in mind if this is an issue for you. My only complaint is that I only stayed one night! This hotel is an old Victorian brownstone that's been renovated. The staff was extremely helpful and polite, and the hotel had all the charm reflected in the pictures. Make sure, if you bring a car, you reserve parking with the hotel in advance. This was not clear to me when I made the reservation. […] This hotel does not have its own lot, so a parking space needs to be reserved in advance for all guests who need one from a parking garage nearby. I lucked out, though - there was parking available on the street, so I could leave my car right out front for free. The room was adorable, and breakfast the next day provided a lot of great choices.
