Our stay in Montreal was very pleasant, and made even more so by our stay at Hotel 10. It's a small boutique hotel (only 5 floors), and despite having... a room that was right next to one set of our loud friends and right below another set of even louder friends, we never heard a peep out of their rooms. The beds are very comfy, and I loved the nice big shower. There's a complementary breakfast if you prepay your room, and it was way more than your standard continental fare (hot scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon in addition to yogurt, pastries, fresh fruit & juices, etc). Best of all was the neighborhood it was in. So easy to walk to all of the best shopping in Montreal and a quick cab ride to the restaurants we wanted to visit. by Liz from New York on 03/12/13

Location.
A historic jewel in downtown Montreal, the Hotel 10 is located on the corner of Sherbrooke Street and St. Laurent Boulevard, less than a kilometer from Montreal's Convention Center and business district. Guests are within walking distance of the vibrant restaurants and bars of Boulevard St. Laurent, and are minutes from both Old Montreal and the Plateau Mont-Royal, generally regarded as Montreal's trendiest neighborhood.

Hotel Features.
The Hotel 10 is divided into two parts: the structure built in 1914 as North America's first building made with poured concrete, and a contemporary structure that critics say redefines "chic." The hotel features complimentary wireless Internet access, room service, high-tech conference rooms, a 24-hour fitness center, a business center, and a video library. Both self-parking and valet parking are available (surcharge). The hotel's Koko Restaurant and Bar serves fresh, contemporary cuisine against a dramatic silver and black backdrop. The Suco Resto Lounge features a multi-level design with signature cocktails and wines. DJs play music on the weekends.

Hotel 10's 136 guestrooms and 10 suites feature views of Montreal, 27-inch LCD televisions with integrated computers, wireless Internet access (surcharge), safes, minibars, Egyptian-cotton linens and bathrobes. The hotel is about 2 blocks north of the St. Laurent metro station and we picked it because it was close to our friends. We had another couple staying at a nearby hotel that was envious when they came by one evening.

Upon arrival the lobby gives a good first impression... the staff not so much. When checking in, the guy working the night shift asked if I would be valeting my car, I said no I am here for the weekend and would prefer to park it in a nearby garage. His reaction was BEYOND nasty, full blown snob face and attitude while stating "Well I don't know where […] you're gonna find a garage..." Well let me tell you where you can find a garage... 2 blocks away that cost me $20 for THREE days and nights... So... I'm sorry you couldn't sell me your overpriced valet service at $35 a day... I'm not afraid to spend $$ but I'm not stupid about it... As for the room... my first smell when exiting the elevator on the second floor was mold/mildew... My room was OK. The bed was extremely comfortable. But the entire room was covered in dust. The desk, the walls, the nightstands... everything. The walls were filthy with marks too, especially in the bathroom. Previous reviews about the housekeeping entering your room without knocking are completely true. It happened twice during my stay. In conclusion... Location was great. Bed was great. Service was not. Overall room was not. Wouldn't stay here again when there are so many other wonderful hotels in the surrounding area... Read more

Hotel was fantastic, it was my 4th stay there. My only gripe is that it is too dark in the rooms as the ceilings are made of concrete and there is no overhead lighting. Aside from that, there was a minor issue with half of the bed being messed up, but they fixed that quickly. Great staff, very accommodating, gorgeous and also quick and free entrance […] into Koko, the trendy nightclub on the ground floor of the hotel. The night we were there Snoop Dogg (Lion) was there as well as George St. Pierre & Channing Tatum. This was because of the Oshego music so dont expect celebs all the time, but nonetheless a very fun scene. Read more

Our stay at your hotel was a nightmare! Its pretty bad when you do not warn your patrons about the NIGHTCLUB "KOKO" attached to your hotel. We had pounding music until 3am and we had to be out of the room by noon the next day. AND SO WE THOUGHT WE WOULD GO TO kOKOS AND HAVE A DRINK BUT THEY WOULDN'T SERVE US BECAUSE WE WERE NOT PRETTY ENOUGH FOR THEM. […] HOW INSULTING! So going to bed at 3am in the morning certainly was not our plan! "We paid a lot of money to stay there and we will never stay there again! Plus we are warning our friends and anyone we know going to Montreal and getting a room. It was awful! Beware! When you book on line you cannot get your money back so we were STUCK there. kOKOS was like Miami Vice. Are you kidding me! Oh yeah and I think the waitresses were escorts! Three friends and I traveled to Montreal for a guys trip over a long weekend. First off, the location was outstanding. Right in the heart of the action with most of the high end "supper clubs" within walking distance. Service was incredible. The concierge, Emily, was very attentive and took her job very seriously. Charming as well. The best part […] was the supper club Koko located in the hotel. It is the hot spot on Friday nights for Montreal's who's who. Larry the head bartender was a true professional, possibly the best bartender I've had the pleasure of ordering from. He, as well as everyone at the hotel took it to the next level. Koko rages until 3am so if you're looking for a quite "old Montreal" vacation with your spouse or your family, look elsewhere. Walking distance to the old city, great big rooms, shower great, bar nice. A little dated but still very nice. No wifi in the rooms but an access to lobby computer. On the edge of a street with bars, when the bars close on a Fri night it's mayhem...if you don't like mayhem get a room in the back, I liked it.

With good past reviews from friends and write-ups on the hotel I looked forward to our stay at the Opus hotel in Montreal. Upon arrival, first impressions are a luxury chic urban hotel in a great neighborhood. We were there over a weekend and the surpise came when the disco attached to the hotel kept the music and party blaring to 3 AM Sat night and […] after 11 PM Sunday night. It totally transforms into a loud 20-something party-place on weekends. Smaller peeves: we slept in due to the late noise... and after being out for a few hours in the afternoon had to call to have our room cleaned. There was only one robe in the room.
