Only downsides are: the bathrooms are a bit open (no door to shower/lav area) so if you are a private person, this might not be for you. The Gault is one of the most visually stunning smaller-scale hotels that I've stayed in. Beautiful touches everywhere--in the lobby, in the room. Great artwork, furnishings, materials. The scale of the spaces is large, yet comfortable. That being said, I would have liked at least one "comfy" chair in my room. The provided chairs look great, but not […] that comfortable for sacking out after long walks. The lobby does have some comfortable areas to relax. In the well-appointed room, several touches were either not up to par (like broken or loose knobs, towel hooks, shower knobs) or hard to use. The entertainment systems seemed extensive, yet impossible to figure out how to use properly. Great location on a quiet street. Surrounded my numerous excellent restaurants. Staff: very accomodating, willling to please, just ever-so-slightly inexperienced. Overall, I'd stay here again and would recommend it. Just wish Gault would up the ante a bit and they'd be a first-class place to stay. Read more

I enjoyed my stay at the Gault. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Our room was spacious and comfortable but since it was a loft with concrete floors (slippers are key) so it is not actually that cozy. I'm a fan of the modern design of the hotel but it may have taken it a little far by sacrifcing some comfort. The shower is party of the room […] - and bathroom is a little sliding door that separates it from the rest of the room so not much privacy... Anyway, I really did enjoy my stay and would highly recommend it but would personally probably try out a different hotel next time I'm in Montreal. Read more

The greeting was great at the reception. The location is pefect. It just within 10-15 mins walking distance to most attactions, such as train station, Vieux-Port (old port), Basilique Notre-Dame. I was in Montreal for a conference at the Palais des Congres de Montreal, so this hotel was very conveniently located in the Old Port section. Our concierges really went above and beyond in terms of recommending nearby restaurants that would be suitable for us. For example, one of the nights we were there our concierge helped us plan a dinner for 12 […] colleagues, including making and confirming the reservations, for which we were very grateful. Although we were informed that there would be an additional charge per night for an extra guest in the room, we were not prepared for the cot charge + the extra guest charge, which worked out to be incredibly expensive. Regardless, I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Montreal. Note that the decor is very modern, which we found comfortable (loved the heated floors in the bathroom!) but may not appeal to everyone. Read more

Very enjoyable stay, the staff were extremely helpful and polite with great restaurant recommendations. I liked the design aesthetic of the room too. My only criticism was that I couldn't access wifi in my room or in the reception area. I understand this may be a common problem?

I travel to abt to abt 7 cities in Canada and the US every year and to montreal at least 3 times a year. I am frm NYC and this hotel has become one of my favorites period! The staff is amazing! The concierge and the hotel staff were very courteous, attentive and helpful throughout our stay. The room decor and design was very modern and stylish. The rooms were much bigger compared to the regular fare of the commercial hotels.
