Locally owned and operated, Hotel Nelligan is a boutique hotel created from 2 Old Montreal buildings and lies within 1 block of the St. Lawrence River, Old Port, and Notre Dame Basilica.
Hotel Features.
Trimmed in dark wood and divided into 3 spaces, the lobby establishes the contemporary, informal ambience that attracts discriminating business and leisure travelers here. Complimentary shuttles operate to downtown attractions daily from morning to night. The Verses Restaurant offers contemporary French cuisine; it's open for breakfast and dinner daily, and lunch Monday to Friday. Large windows open onto the street in warm weather.
A fully equipped conference room is available to ensure meetings or functions are a success. To cater to the needs of the business traveler, Hotel Nelligan has a business center. After a long day of sightseeing or meetings, guests can treat themselves to a pampering massage or work out in the fitness facility.
Guestrooms.
The Hotel Nelligan's elegant guestrooms are furnished with platform beds decorated with wood-and-wrought-iron headboards and dressed with triple sheeting, 5 down pillows per bed, white down comforters, and chocolate-colored chenille throws. Frette Italian terry-cloth bathrobes and slippers supply lounging comfort. Turndown service is available upon request. Other thoughtful room amenities include cable television with premium channels, CD players, desks, in-room safes, Internet access, jetted bathtubs, and hair dryers.

Verses Restaurant - Contemporary French cuisine. Breakfast and dinner daily, and lunch Monday-Friday. Large windows open onto street in warm weather. Curved, high-back banquette-booths. Stone-and brick-walls, 10-foot mirrors, dark-wood paneling and furniture. Glass-cube wine cellar. Lunch choices include salmon tartare, grilled-shrimp cocktail, lobster salad, togarashi-rubbed-tuna salad, pasta special, seared calf's-liver with mushroom ragoût, Angus filet mignon with truffled mashed potatoes, grilled salmon. Dinner choices such as lobster tian, Angus-beef tartare, Angus rib steak with Kenyan string beans, duck breast with foie gras and blueberry-Minaki reduction, shellfish risotto, and honey-cider-glazed Guinea fowl with herb polenta.
Méchant Boeuf - Open daily for dinner. Pub-style menu. New restaurant (summer 2007). Rustic decor with exposed brick, a skylight, and an indoor fountain. Dining room, lounge, and bar (bar accommodates up to 175 guests).
Verses Sky - Open in warm weather. Rooftop, two-level, wood-plank terrace with umbrella tables and gas barbecue grill. Views of Old Port, St. Lawrence River, and Notre Dame Basilica. Lunch/dinner menu includes choices such as foie gras with caramelized peaches oysters on half-shell, asparagus gratinée, duck confit, lobster salad, braised beef, steak, and salmon.
A biking/jogging trail extends along the St. Lawrence River one block from the hotel, and bicycles can be rented in Old Montréal one block away. Ice skating is available on the river when it freezes over in winter. For a surcharge, hotel guests may use the YMCA's indoor swimming pool three blocks away.

"Nelligan Hotel- Old Montreal"
Great location, super helpful staff. Awesome rooftop bar with amazing views. Room was nice but a bit dark. Atrium view looks out into indoor atrium that doesn't let in much natural light. "I loved this hotel!!"
I loved the Nelligan. Initially I thought that it was an older hotel since it is in the heart of old Montreal, However it is relatively new, but constructed of two older buildings joined together. The area between the two buildings became the 4-story atruim w/ balconies in the public areas of each floor to overlook it. Much of the original brick walls […] are left exposed in the atruim and in areas of the rooms so it feels old while being very modern. The rooms were very comfortable and had all the modern conveniences. The restaurant/bar is beautiful and very intimate while still being open. The location is fantastic for spending time in the old city. It is only 2 blocks behind the Basilique de Notre Dame and only a couple more blocks to one of the best shopping areas-- a large square full of shops and street vendors and restaurants. The street that the hotel is on also has block after block or wonderful restaurants. In addition it is also an easy walk to the Vieux-Port which is now a very-well tended walking and biking area and also has the Museum of Archaeology and History and the IMAX as well as shopping and the Cirque du Soleil tent. "Great location in old Montreal!"
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Nelligan. There were 8 of us in total, 4 couples. The hotel was clean, efficient and had all the amenities we required. Great restaurants were only blocks away and the ambiance of old Montreal is spell binding! A great trip all round.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
