"Great hotel for partying"
We stayed at another hotel during our stay in Montreal but moved to the Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa because of lodging rate increase for one night. The Best Western was closer to the crowds on Saint Catherine, as a result the guests were younger and noisier. The room was small and crowded. We are glad that we had only one night […] of lodging. The room was clean and well kept. I found the staff to be very pleasant & helpful. They were quick to help with any requests including calling taxis - even directions to nearby currency exchange bureaus with lower rates than the hotel offered! Went to Montreal for Lasik eye surgery. The hotel was half a block from the Lasik building office. Very convenient for restaurants and shopping..again, half a block in the opposite direction.. I was disappointed with the size of the room. It was very tiny and old. It didn't look like they swept the floor in a while. The bathroom was really tiny too...It was kind of a noisy hotel in the evenings. The location was ideal as we were seeing a concert at the Bell Center. The desk worker was friendly and helpful. "Not What I Expected"
It was soooooo small. when you sat at the toliet, your knees overlapped the bathtub and I am a small female. The picture online made it look larger. It was not. the reception person recommended the restaurant. they were not to receive their liquor license until the next day and they were experiencing air conditioning problems. The most frustrating issue was the lack of the parking. The hotel's staff sent us to the lot across the street. Two unshaven and sloppy guys wanted to charge us for $20 for unguarded, hence -- insecure parking overnight. My husband and I stayed here for a weekend. We were so happy with the location, close to everything (St. Catherine Street, Metro, parking). The hotel is nice, the location is great if you are going to the Bell center. The bathroom is very nice but extremely tight! I didn't have a problem but a tall or wide person would definitely have an issue! The toilet bowl is almost on top of the tub. This hotel was in a prime location! We spent two nights here and never took the car out of the lot across the street. Within walking distance to many attractions! We had two rooms with two double beds each that were the largest rooms we've ever had in a hotel! Very spacious! I've read that the single rooms are much smaller though! Rooms were very clean […] and comfortable. The staff were pleasant. Parking attendant not so pleasant across the street but expected in a big city. The restaurant "Cora's" was very good and recommended by my canadian family. The lounge that is connected to the hotel but not affiliated with the hotel never told us it was cash only! He did not except credit cards and he discounted american money 15%! Luckily our canadian family paid with canadian money! I feel that the bartender should have expressed that especially seeing we were the only people in the place! There was no sign either so always ask first! I would definitely stay here again!
