"Spacious bathroom"

I enjoyed staying at Hotel De La Montagne . This is my second year in a row visiting in Montreal and enjoyed my stay just as much this time around. The service was warm and friendly and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed dining and the convenience of two Restaurants a bar and grill and a night club with great music,all connected to the Hotel. We were very pleased with our three-day stay in October. The room was the biggest and most comfortable standard room I've ever been in in a big city hotel. The location was very good. "Shabby hotel in need of updating"
I would not return to this hotel. I stayed in room 506 and it was shabby and seemingly dirty.The lighting was poor and there were initials painted on the window behind the curtain! The room had a balcony but no view. The lobby was noisy and smelled of smoke and there wasn't a doorman on duty when we arrived back at the hotel in the evenings after dinner. […] (I would be very uncomfortable staying at this hotel as a single woman) The staff at the front desk tried to be helpful with recommendations regarding restaurants and events around the city but that would hardly be a reason to return. I guess the piece de resistence was the note slipped under the door saying the water would be shut off the following morning for 3 hours!! Luckily we were out of there!!! "Nice except the pool"
This hotel was overall very nice. Excellend central locatoin, very comfortable rooms and beds. The rooftop bar is popular among locals which for me was a negaive. The hotel boasts a rooftop pool however it is not reserved for hotel guests after 11:30 AM.This is fine if you want to have a morning swim, but if you want to use the pool for afternoon sunning, […] forget it. You will have to compete with the locals who line up at the elevators to spend the afternoon at the pool. within walking/biking/Metro/bus distance to everything. The room I had was spacious, clean and comfortable. The shower was great, although the lighting in the bathroom left a little to be desired. The only complaint is that the rooftop pool is open to the public, so it's unrealistic to expect to find a place to sit, even though you are a hotel guest. "close to sights with lots of hidden fees"
We checked into hotel 40 minutes earlier than typical arrival and were charged $20additional for parking- they did NOT tell us this at check in. Found out when we got our bill at check out. We would have parked on the street until check in had we known this. Also, they charged us $20 per night for having 3 ppl in a room with 2 queen beds. Lots of fees […] that were not made clear up front. Pool is open to public at 11:30 am and gets VERY crowded. Little did we know that the Hotel de la Montagne was such a party destination. The bars at this place are hopping late into the night, which is great if that's your thing. Be sure to request a room below the 18th floor as the 20th floor pool area is popular all day and all night making for difficult sleeping if you're too close to the action. We were two senior ladies traveling together. This hotel was located in the heart of the city. It was very well appointed, clean and quiet. There was a doorman at all times. We never had to handle our luggage, hail a cab, etc. We had a balcony but not much of a view. It looked out over the roofs of other buildings. They had a very nice breakfast buffet […] however it was a little pricey. However, two doors down was a little place where we ate a few times that was very reasonably priced. The Hotel is in a great location. We were disappointed that the roof was not open for the beginning of September. The hotel seemed to have an older crowd. Room was pretty clean except for the countertops. Beds were comfortable and had a great view of the city from the porch. We liked everything about this hotel, including: proximity to Crescent St where all the pubs and open air restaurants are located; great two for one happy hour lasting until 8 PM a fine buffet breakfast; only three blocks from the 747 Airport bus stop; really beautufully interior with loads of statues and paintings. Lovely boutique hotel. Could use a few updates. The room decor was a little dated. Loved the washroom. We could have lived in there. Maid service left little to be desired by the third day. We basically had to beg the maid to even put clean towels in the room muchless change the garbage. Despite that, would absolutely go back there. Very convenient. "Better stay last time"
We heard they are closing the hotel, tearing it down and rebuilding a multi-function complex. This is suppose to take place in Sept. We believe this may have been the issue with our stay. I've been to montreal many times with my friends, and we've been to a lot hotels such as Holiday Inn, Hotel de Paris, Aubri, and Econolodge. By far, Hotel Montagne is the BEST one we've been to!! It has amazing service, beautiful, incredibly spacious rooms, and an amazing view from our balcony. There was no noise, and I love how you can change the temperature. […] I am very impressed with this hotel, and will definitely be coming back. The price was a bit high, but it's DEFINITELY worth it if you're going all out. I recommend staying here to anyone. Whenever I stay in Montreal, I try to book this hotel. It is convenient to all downtown amenities, restaurants, business and entertainment. The rooms are large, the staff is friendly and the hotel has an older charm. In the summer there is a pool deck on top with a bar. Our experience at the hotel would have been perfect, if not for the cold reception we received at check-in at 4pm on a Sunday. there were 3 staff at the front desk and not one smiled when we arrived, nor seemed very interested in serving us. it took about 10 minutes to find us 2 rooms that was ready, and no one took the time to explain to the guests […] why the delay, but they all had a lot to say amongst themselves.
