We only spent one night - then we found out the the Hotel was closing. You would think that the service might be not so good and people with bad attitudes, etc. My wife and I found just the opposite. This hotel stay was one of my most enjoyable stays ever. Unfortunately, the hotel is closing in about a week to make way for new condos, and a new hotel. The Hotel de la Montagne is / was an elegant hotel with lots of class. The room was huge, about double the size of your newer hotel rooms. The bathroom was huge as well with a separate shower, and […] bathtub. The bathroom was also one of the cleanest bathrooms I have used in any hotel, new or old. The decor was old, but chic, well maintained, and as indiated above "elegant". The service was outstanding which was particularly impressive since the employees, many of them with the hotel for 30 years or so, will be unemployed next week. I felt sad when checking out after an outstanding week's stay at the hotel knowing the Hotel de la Montagne would be closing within a week, and facing the wrecking ball soon. I consider myself fortunate that I had the opportuninty to experience this fine hotel before it closed. Another sad note is Thursdays, one of the nicer clubs on Crescent St, is also closing since it is connected to the hotel de la Montagne. I do wish all the employees success in their future endeavors, and thank them for an outstanding experience at the hotel even though they were facing the unemployment line within a week. Read more

I've traveled extensively, and this is one of my favorite hotels. I read reviews about it being loud, so I requested a middle floor, they put me on the 10th, an amazing room with a balcony. We had no issues with noise. Overall, this is a great hotel for younger couples, singles, people in their 20s/30s. I say that mainly because there is a bar/pool […] on the roof that is open to the public and it's pretty much blasting house music with young people drinking (since you don't have to be a guest to go up there). There is also a separate club in the hotel. Saturday night, the right elevator had a long line of non-guests, and the left elevator was for guests only. It was mostly people looking to party. Pros: -Tons to do in the hotel -Centrally located -Parking (extra) -Excellent room service (cheese cake was staked with nicely cut fruit, and so was our breakfast the next day, and it was all great) -Very nice staff, man brought us a pitcher of ice water randomly to our room with one of our orders because it was so hot out (rooms are climate controlled) -Free wifi (slow though) -Great views from the roof bar Cons: -Elevator waiting -Fridge is way too packed with stuff they want you to buy, no room to put your own drinks in As you can see, the cons are minor, and this place is excellent and I highly recommend it for other young couples or Montreal tourists. I would not recommend it for families with lots of small children, or business travelers who are in need of rest. Read more

The Hotel was a wonderful surprise. The staff was very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The Car park attendant was also very helpful when our car battery died. The front desk was full of tips when we needed to book an additional nite.

The roof top pool and, the restaurant and club all inside the hotel give the guest a wonderful experience when they are not out and about exploring the city. The hotels locations allows guest to walk right out the door and enjoy great food and night life.

Old world elegance in the heart of trendy St. Catherine St. Loved the balconly; tested the weather forcast right outside my room to decide what to wear and what not to wear. A fantastic mix of university students and professionals makes this city my favorite. I feel like I'm in Paris but can speak English. This hotel has it all.

Stayed here over four nights while seeing the sights on my first visit to Montreal. The hotel is conveniently and centrally located to shopping, museums, restaurants, and the Bell Centre. Staff was courteous and helpful. I had a nice stay. I will definitely be staying here again.

This hotel is in a very convenient location, walking distance to stores, restaurants, and transportation if needed. It is clean, well managed with a friendly and attentive staff. We visited in September 2011, loved it and returned with our family this weekend. The family loved it as well and look forward to visiting again. Highly recommended.

What a great place! We had a *beautiful* comfortable room and the staff were really helpful. It's one block away from the street with all the terraced restaurants, and an easy walk up to Mt Royal, down to the old city, or over to the Latin Quarter. No complaints! :)

We were very pleased with our three-day stay in October. The room was the biggest and most comfortable standard room I've ever been in in a big city hotel. The location was very good. Help from the staff for planning tourist visits, etc., was excellent. Free WIFI, free umbrella loans,...all were very helpful.

This property is a little older but is very well maintained. The rooms were very large, and the hotel management has remembered all the comfortable details - fluffy pillows, robes, slippers... all the things that help make a hotel feel like home away from home. The staff were also very helpful and courteous.

Fantastic hotel! My boyfriend is a "foodie"; he and I both loved the food available at the hotel! Easy parking both at he hotel and lot next door. About 1 block from the Metro. Lots of bars, cafe, etc wihin a 2 block radius. The few areas for improvement .. view from the balcony on floors 6 and lower not great and paying $2 for a bucket of ice.
