We took a family vacation to Montreal. For the price, the hotel was a fair deal. The room wasn't fancy, but it was clean, comfortable and got the job done. The hotel itself was nice and the staff was friendly. It was also super convenient; you can walk directly to Metro underground, there is a very nice grocery store and drugstore accessible via the […] same tunnels, St. Dennis street is a fun place to go for dinner a couple blocks away. Our main complaint was that the immediate neighborhood is kinda seedy, not ideal for strolling around with young kids. Nice staff, standard room. Great view of park below which happened to have a concert going. Right next to Gay District with several restaurants and interesting activities. Within walking distance of Old Montreal and Port area. About $18 for parking in adjacent garage where we were able to keep the car until 6pm the next day.

The area immediately surrounding the hotel is a bit sketchy: think the West Village, if that helps. However, it's only a few blocks to the trendy plateau neighborhood, and a ten minute walk to the Place de Arts, which houses all of the city's festivals. You can also get to the Metro without leaving the hotel (except on Sundays), so if you want to avoid […] the area completely, you generally can. A lot of the reviews mention that the rooms are old, but it isn't too bad: still perfectly clean and serviceable. Hotel needs a bit of cosmetic work - peeling wall paper in main lobby and in room, coffee maker did not work, only scalding hot water. Overall for the location it was an OK place to stay. Won't be my first pick next time, but if it is what is available I wouldn't turn it down.

Well placed adjacent to metro stop, easy to get where you want to go. Room was small, dated and next to the elevator which was very noisy ALL night long. Parking not included but was reasonably priced Staff was pleasant and helpful but still would look at other options before I stayed there again

Metro station hub 1/2 block away. 3 blocks to all the great shops/restaurants on St Denis. Shopping connected to the hotel (great grocery). Very helpful hotel staff. Decor is a bit dated, but the room was clean.

I was very pleased with my stay. The personel was very nice. The room was a little bit outdated. The electrical outlet wasn't working. The mini bar needed a defrost. The mattress was not comfortable. Other than that, it was very clean and we had a beautiful view. If you have little kids sharing the room, make sure the breakfast is also included for […] the kids. We stayed here for 2 nights and undoubtedly the location is awesome, right next to St Catherines Street and whole set of shopping. The hotel bathrooms are a little outdated, again if you dont care this is a great location to stay in Montreal, also the hotel staff are extremely courteous.

I stayed here for 4 nights on vacation. This is great if you are looking for an affordable, and decent hotel. The lobby is nice, the exterior of the building is nice, it's conveniently located and right by a metro entrance. If you want a basic, no frills, affordable place, this is it! We enjoyed our stayed at this hotel. It is conveniently located on Saint Catherine Street and near UQAM metro station. We liked that it had a convenient grocery store on the ground level. Also, we liked that the parking garage is underground. The room was very clean and the bathroom was cleaned every morning...The room was a little small with a double […] bed as we stayed with our two little kids but it was not that bad. From our room we had a great view of the city! The Food at the Hotel Restaurant is really good...The breakfast included delicious fresh croissants and pasteries. People were great. Room was older and we asked that they repair the diverter valve for the shower. The guy tried, but the fixtures were so old that they could not repair it. The location was great, with access to the Metro in the building and a grocery store in the building. The surrounding environs were a bit sketchy, and the presence of panhandlers […] was oppressive. Don't go take walks around in the night and day. All of the homeless are sleeping in the park in front of the hotel,you can easily see them from your room.Looks very scary. Also,the cleanliness was horrible! The washroom,bathtub etc. was horribly dirty. We really didn't enjoy this stay. We recommend you to not come to this hotel,you'll regret it.

I chose this hotel due to the ratings from previous visitors and the amenities it claimed to provide. The pool was closed and we were not provided this information at our telephone booking (only a couple of days prior) nor were we given any alternative pool access. Travelling with a 9 year old and a thirteen year old, we would not have booked at a hotel […] without a pool and we were very dissapointed that this one was unavailable. When we inquired, we were told that it had been closed for some time. I think websites need to be updated and that this information should be shared at booking, especially when booking in done on the telephone. Read more

Deux bémols toutefois: la salle de bain sentait mauvais et le plafond de la douche présentait des traces de moisissure sans doute dues à l'humidité. We've had a pleasant stay at the Gouveneur Hotel. People were friendly and the breakfast was great. The room and the hotel facilities were a bit old fashioned, but you are in the middle of lively neighbourhood and on top of a central metro station.
