price, location, ease of access all great but no parking became pricey across the street at 12.00 daily. i stayed three nights so 36.00 was a hit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Central and near main subway stop"
Great location near students and within half hour walk of most of downtown. The parking was minimal (about 6 spaces behind hotel down a NARROW alley). "good location, helpful staff"
The hotel is old and very run down. Rooms are small. Hotel staff was very helpful, location was great. Didn't spend much time in the hotel so it was ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff was lovely and VERY helpful. Location is convenient - in the Latin Quarter close to lots of nightlife. That said, streets can be a little rowdy at night. Hotel rooms are very dated and I had expected a more cleanly room based on the website pictures. For those of you who are seeking inexpensive spot to crash, this is a good spot. room was a bit disappointing but the convenient location was a great surprise. Didn't know Montreal at all but walk out half a block to cafes, a few more blocks to old city, cathedral, lots to see. I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Le St. Andre. Breakfast delivered every morning. Clean affordable and comfortable simple cozy room and free Wi-Fi. Courteous and friendly staff. I would definitely stay at this hotel on my next visit to Montreal and I would also recommend this hotel to my friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
From the degraded (compared to the photo) condition of the exterior, to the seriously tired lobby, to the room's shabby old tv, sad bedding, insufficient air conditioner w confusing and miniscule buttons and labels, everything was ok at best with some bits being awful. The price was good and the hotel's proximity to the Olympia Theatre was the driving […] force in my staying there, which I would likely not do again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"I'm sure it was nice many years ago"
The great thing about this hotel is that it is close to the Village and St Denis where we found many fun street cafes, street performers, etc. We also walked to the old port, old town, and chinatown. One block away we rented the BIXI bicycles and rode to the Islands where Expo67 took place. The Metro(subway) is also close.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location for some weekend fun"
Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of The Village so it makes it easy to have a good night on the town with friends and walk back to your hotel with a friendly staff and comfortable bed near by. Although located downtown (the Village), the hotel is located on a very quiet street without much foot traffic or cars.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good enough for the price."
Overall this hotel was in a great location, staff was friendly and helpful, room was clean, the shower was good & I like having a fridge in my room. Downside, it was loud, both inside and out, the room was a bit small and the bed was hard and uncomfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"rough around the edges, but sweet inside"
great location because it's near the intersection of two major metro lines. also plenty of shops and low end restaurants. surrounding neighborhood is the clubbing area , so great for clubbers. however, when you are not clubbing, the area is rife with beggars. reception is freindly and helpful as are staff. hotel is a little weathered, and beds are a […] bit beaten. but everything is clean. so for a budget traveler - clean rules! i didn't mind the hotel overall being a bit downtrodden as long as they keep it clean -which they did. suprise benefit- among the best french bread I have ever tasted! The desk clerks were awsesome to help direct us to restaurants and events. The breakfast brought to our room at the time asked was very nice!Housekeeping could be improved.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I went because of location price and the emphasis on bi lingual multicultural openness. As a non French speaker I was kind of nervous. The people were great! The basic breakfast delivered at my preferred time was basic, but sooo nice! The neighborhood is the gay area, but who cares, everyone was so nice and location was prime. The rooms were über basic. "Survival on Hotel Le St-Andre street."
My friends and myself were on the 4th floor but the elevator only went to the 3rd floor. We had to carry our luggage up two flights of stairs. The room was small along with the 13inch TV. "A Fair Hotel !"
This Hotel is Close to a Lot of Interesting things to see. We stayed here because the Hotel we wanted was booked. I would stayed here again, but only if there were no other Hotels in the area. The Staff is Very Friendly, and Helpful. They're also Bilingual, and eager to assist. The downside is that the Rooms we stayed in, although Clean. Were not Modern. […] No Large, Flat LCD screens or Fancy Beds. The Hotel could use a Major Investment to Upgrades. But, everything does work! Plus, we were surprised that they actually Delivered our Continental Breakfast to our Rooms. And it was Good and Fresh! The Hotel has no Parking of its own. They advice you to park at the nearby Biblioteque Grande which is Cheap at $9.00 a Day. When we were there it was mostly Students staying there. Good Hotel when you're on a tight budget. The hotel is centrally located on St. Catherine street and great space for exploring and enjoying the area. The staff was really friendly and helpful with local resources such as parking. The room was fair condition. The bed was comfortable, however, I think the room could have used a little better cleaning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
When all other hotels were over $100...This was a DEAL! Freshly painted room. Clean sheets. The mattress was newer, but too firm for my taste (not their problem). Cordial (not convivial) staff. Clean bath with plenty of hot water any time of day. Had I known the Uni was so close, I might've stayed elsewhere, but you couldn't hear a peep from the room […] of the raucus kids in the area. "Well located small hotel."
Only two blocks to the Berri-UQAM Metro station so easy to get anywhere in Montreal. Serve nice continental breakfast brought right to your room. Free parking available in a limited-sized lot so get there early. Could use a little upgrade in room furniture, lighting and TV. WiFi worked reasonably well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location is good, but that's all"
Went for 3 nights to this hotel. Cleanliness of the room was disappointing - there were someone's hairs on the pillows, although covers looked ironed, lots of stains on the floor everywhere, and condition of the room leaves much more to desire. Guy at the reception kindly offered us another room (smoking one), and we couldn't stay 5 mins there, so just […] simply exchanged pillows with our first room (no one was in the hotel to change the bed dressing at 11pm). Breakfast is awful, nothing eatable, and coffee is junk. Parking is a plus - saves about $10-15 per day, few slots almost always are available. But be careful entering, must have some tight parking experience. Another plus - is 5 mins to the metro, which takes you to any place in the city. And their wifi works really great all over the hotel. Overall, except for parking, location, and friendliness of the staff the hotel is very bad, I wouldn't go there next time. "Cute and Friendly"
It's true, as I read in other reviews, that the rooms are very small and the walls are thin. But the location is great and the staff is very friendly. I recommend this hotel if you're going to spend most of your time out and about in the city - not in the hotel. As a place to crash, it's cute, clean, and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Is fine for a couple days"

"Not a ritzy hotel, but it was just fine for me"
I drove up and my first thought was to cancel. I mean, the parking lot is just a vacant lot and you have to drive between two buildings, make a sharp turn (if someone isn't just parked at the turn so that you can barely get in -- why are people this dense to do that?) Anyway, when I got in, the people were very nice and the room is like a small bedroom […] with a bathroom in it. For me, I came to Montreal to explore the city, not to stay in a hotel, so it served its needs. I could easily fall asleep there, the window unit on the air conditioner worked, the fridge was small but it was good enough to keep milk, soda, and juice cold. Never really turned the TV on, but it's an old tube TV. The furniture is not that great, but it didn't fall apart, so I won't complain. All in all, it's in a city and it may be a bit overpriced considering the parking issue but judging by the other prices around, you will pay much more to go there. Let's just say that it suited my needs for 3 days although if I had one request, I'd put a good bike rack in front of the building and maybe even put a small ramp where the parking lot is so you don't have to go through the alley to park.... (if you can get a spot -- if not, there are MAYBE 2 or 3 spots you can get in but you can't park there on Monday and Thursday between 7 and 8 am for some reason) Anyway, not too bad, it's near many stores, and it was decent enough to end my trip on a good note. "terrible up-kept hotel"
In general, staying in this hotel is not pleasant at all, but somewhat tolerable if your budget is really tight. This is the only hotel I've stayed with that has no hair dryer. The room is extremely small and the insulation is horrible that I can hear my neighbor sneeze as if he was doing it right beside me. The hotel is a very old building, although […] the owner was trying to renovate it, the structure cannot even prevent smoke leaking to non-smoking rooms that my clothes were soaked with the smell of cigarette smoking. The upkeep of the hotel was also awful, e.g. I saw 2 plastic bags from the previous guest left in the closet, and there was a bottle of body wash lotion with broken cap, apparently used by somebody already. I threw this bottle to trash bin but the next day it came back to the bath tub again, apparently being fished out from the trash by their staff and provided to me to use! Probably because it was a super old building, there was no central air, the window AC unit sounded like a helicopter. When we were booking this hotel, we were told there was a free parking. Yes, there was, only 4-5 cars capacity so when you were not lucky enough, go park somewhere else with cash on your own. Anyway, I don't think we're gonna be back to this hotel again. "Located in downtown,Near by Oranage & green line"
Check in Jan 26 21012 - Chek out Jan 29 2012 - Ideal location to move around near by downtown , got the metro pass for 3 days ( $16) , Unlimited access, dont even need a car to move arround even from the airport( incldued in the 3 day pass). Breakfast was served at your door , per your the time u have picked( Coffee, juice, and muffins plus jam, butter […] and jelly ONLY) , Free parking was a plus. Rooms were very small, our room was a bit dirty so we request to change the room; we got to see/check/select from the two other rooms, overall hoetal is a bit out dated, but I can sense a bit of ongoing renevation . Not very clean but liveable with what you are paying. For this price n location, I'd go back. Great Customer service. Must see Old Montreal City, Underground Shopping was fun, most of the underground buildings were connected underground, get a map to get aquintated , mostly everyone speak French , but you easily get by with English as well. I would suggest the hotel to see if they can manage to have/include boiled eggs with the breakfast. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel, although it is in a slightly seedy part of town, has a great location. Easy walking distance to the old part of Montreal, fast food restaurants (essential when traveling with kids) and a supermarket just up the road. Service was very friendly and helpful. The guys on the front desk couldn't have been more helpful, and went out of their way […] to retrieve an item that was left behind when we left. "Vehicle ransacked in hotel parking lot"
Listing free parking as one of Hotel St. Andre's amenities was a draw. Now that we've visited I can see why people pay for parking...you want to be safe!
