"Dirty hotel in good location"
I was excited to find a hotel for a great price in a great location with consistently good guest ratings. What I found when I got there was a great location, an overpriced hotel considering what I got, and an overall very dirty hotel that I would not return to. I was disgusted by the condition an lack of cleanliness of the room. The locatioin of the hotel is prime. You can walk to the train station and downtown, shopping area within 15 mins tops. Parking was expensive, but I guess that is to be expected in downtown Montreal. Was awoken at 4:30 am in the morning during my stay to a couple yelling obscenities at each other in the hallway. I stayed there from Jan 11 to Jan 13, 2013. The room was outdated and too hot. The conditionner/heater was very old and it was difficult to make the room cooler - no option to choose the desired temperature. The hotel was full of young people partying all night long. This was a special low price deal so we were not expecting the Ritz-Carlton. However for a two year old hotel it was showing its age - e.g. in the bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable but the room was very un-cosy (hard wood floors, no carpets at all, no comfortable place to sit and read with a light etc and no indication of TV stations available). This hotel has only been moderately updated. The suites are not updated and although "upgraded" to a suite, we chose to be down-graded to a modernized room that was at least clean. The room had laminate floors which made the room very loud....many sounds come from the hallway. The HVAC unit did not work and was extremely loud. This hotel has an amazing location. Less than 5 minutes to St. Catherines and rue Crescent makes it easy to enjoy downtown Montreal.
