"dissapointed with room condition"
The hotel was worn out. we left hotel room at 10 AM, came back at 4 PM to find our room hasn't been cleaned yet. There was a hole in the bathroom door, it looks like someone puched it but then it was fixed with different color of paint. There was a stain in the comforter. "Unfortunately... not the best stay"
The lobby is deceiving because you would think the rest of the hotel was as nice. Once we went up to the 5th floor, there was a stench of urine or old beer (or both) that greets you as you exit. Our room was all the way to the end of the hall so we had to endure the smell every time we came or went from our room. On our 2nd day, we had no new towels […] from housekeeping to replace the ones we had used that morning. We had to ask at the front desk and they did replace them quickly. The hotel was quite a ways from anywhere we wanted to visit and did a large amount of walking. One night we asked the front desk where the closest place was to get ice cream and no one seemed to know. We had many loud people in the rooms around us... slamming of doors at all hours. "Dirty, smelly and broken mattress"

"Probably wouldn't stay again"
Checked into the room at 3AM in the morning for a 3 day stay and the AC was roarring loud and wasn't cold. I ended up sleeping through it since I was tired, next morning AC was frosted up and the room was steaming hot. The maintenance man fixed the AC the 2nd day and the room was cool, but not cold. The AC went out again the next day (same as before) […] and I had to request a room change. The front desk did not even offer the room change and insisted sending the maintenance man to double check before I could request a room change. This was at 5PM in the afternoon and also, the room still wasn't cleaned. Left a nice tip asking for more towels, and I didn't get any. Oh yeah, 3rd day stay had no hot water at all. "Close to venue"
It ws the worse experience of my life. We had asked for two adjoining rooms or at least on the same floor. When we got there they were not aware of our request. They did give us two rooms next to each other but right above the party room. The music was blasting until 2AM so we were unable to sleep. "Bad hotel - unless you want to party"
Floors are hardwood and cold. The heating unit kept going on and off every minute, even when i turned it off Above all, there was a bachelorette party on the same floor and needless to say there were a lot of drunken people. "Rude and unattentive staff!!!"
Location is fine regarding shopping, however the restaurant area is far away. Hotel definitely needs updating. Our bath wasn't a mint condition, was blocked, but the worst was the amount of hair we found all over the bathroom! On top of that, people from reception were rude and not helpful at all. "Horrible customer service"
I have never written a poor review of any hotel or restaurant, but I am extremely disatisfied with the service at Espresso. Essentially, there was no wi fi in our room, our phone was disconnected and our air conditioner fused at night, which led to a burning smell in the room. We called for assistance for all of these issues a total of 7 times that […] day, within a span of 5 hours. We were told each time by Front Desk that "someone will be right up". In the end, at 12:15am, more than 8 hours after our first call for assistance, someone finally came upstairs to check the air conditioner. This could have potentially been a serious safety hazard - I do not appreciate how this issue was dealt with. Aside from that, I paid for this hotel knowing that I would have unlimited wi-fi access, as this was essential to my stay in Montreal. I will mention, that upon our check out, our parking pass was validated in compensation. That was very kind of the gentleman to do so; however, it does not justify the horrible service prior. "Yikkes...think twice!"
After checking in, the first rooms phone was completely dead and needed replacing. Upgraded to another room which was right next to the elevator. The noise from that alone kept me up all night. The plumbing made so much noise that I asked to be put back in my old room. Back to the old room with no phone so had to use the one in the lobby. The pillows […] were flatter than a pancake. Only two tv stations with english and all the rest were french. Doesn't help if you don't speak the language! Staff were nice and helpful. Location was central. "Not Impressed AT ALL."
We had an amazing time when we went there, although the hotel was not what we expected AT ALL. Do not get a room above the 4th floor, they are mouldy smelly, and the bathrooms are horrible, and the carpet smells. The room we got did not look like the pictures at all. Another thing if you want to be around all the action this is not the right hotel. […] We always had to walk everywhere and it wasn't close at all. because we flew down we didn't have a car so we spent a lot of money on taxis. The hotel is about one block from st. catherine street where all the action and shopping is, and it is very far from the gay village, and the clubbing district of st. laurent. "Bruyant et chaud"
Le climatisation dans notre chambre ne fonctionnait pas et il n'y avait pas de rideau de douche dans la salle de bain.
