My recent stay at hotel was fine. Other than hotel hospitality things looks good. I have asked to call Taxi at front desk(Emily) and she was not at all attentive to get me taxi. Have to wait for more than 30 min and ask again and again to get a taxi. Finally other receptionist help me getting Taxi to the next destination. We liked the location, easy to get to and close to some of Ottawa's downtown attractions. The hotel is a little worn and the elevators were very slow. The front desk staff were very friendly and efficient. We were able to get a late checkout which we thought was nice and fit in well with our plans.

The suite had a well stocked kitchenette, including utensils, flatware and cooking implements, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very small, but the rest of the room was quite large. We stayed for one night which happened to be the opening night of Winterlude in Ottawa. After arriving a check-in we were told no parking was available despite the listing on hotels.com stating there was "self-parking" available for a reasonable fee. I was travelling with my 13 year old daughter and arrived after dark then spent an hour circling the […] neighbourhood trying to find on-street parking. Not cool. Between the snow removal signs and Winterlude traffic, it was a nightmare! The hotel needs to be more up-front about the fact that parking may not be available. The hotel is pretty worn around the edges, the carpeting has seen better days and there are lots of nicks & dings. The bathroom in our room had been nicely updated and as we ended up in a two room suite it was very roomy. The "business centre" on the lobby level has very nasty, stained carpeting and a really awful smell in the room. This said, the price is very reasonable for the location despite the parking woes. It's only a few blocks from the canal and there are tons of restaurants/night life on Elgin St. You can easily walk to the Byward Market area, the Parliament buildings & Rideau Centre shopping. This is a great hotel for it's main purpose - extended stay guests and families looking to not drop a ton of money and be able to walk to the sights in Ottawa. Read more

Great place if you're only using it for a place to crash. It wasn't very up to date as far as looks but since my wife and I were out exploring Ottawa, we didn't stay in the room too long. Also, when I booked it said there was a continental breakfast but when I arrived there was none. I'll be trying a new hotel if I'm ever back in Ottawa.

Only 1 bottle of shampoo for 3 people is terrible. Pillows were awful. Had to ask them to salt the ramp for paid parking the car. No Pen, Paper or local telephone book. Chipped doorframes and mouldings, shabby linens, and remnants of an old smoking room were all too apparent. Piping was such that the shower hissed and whistled to a very annoying pitch. It wasn't dreadful but it wasn't great or even comfy and inviting. At least offset the structural problems with plusher carpeting and a down duvet!

I had to go back to front desk 3 times to have the card key corrected carrying all my luggage . Finally i was given a new room as the 1st room the door was not working . The hallways were clear but had plaster on the walls that was fading , as the hallway was to be painted then forgotten about.

Excellent location ! Nice Rooms. Would have like to know that there was no maid service (clean towels - make beds etc). Was supplied with 1 coffee package for 3 days. Toilet was absolutely filthy upon arrival - recommendation...bring clorox wipes to clean the toilets when you arrive. Requested linen for hide a bed (we were 3.. 2 adults - 1 child). Received […] sheets...had to go back to front desk and request a blanket. Guests were putting bags of garbage in the hall for pick up. Front desk staff - Polite but not very knowledgeable. Despite the fact that Hotel.com said parking was plentiful, had to park at city hall first night - Front desk did not know they needed to validate parking which meant we could not leave parking area without either paying $25 or option chosen...leave car and run back to hotel for validating then back again to parking garage - ANNOYING. Parking at Hotel is $14/night. If hotel sends you to park at city hall, they charge $14+tax = $18 on your bill then you pay tax on the $18. Verify parking charges. $14 is not what was quoted on Hotel.com. When we left, there was a sign in the parking lot stating $12/night Door off parking lot - IS NOT LOCKED -anyone can walk in. Overall - liked the room, very spacious - separate bedroom / living room & kitchen area with stove-fridge and microwave. Will go back but will be prepared to clean and bring extra towels and linen because it takes so long to have it brought to the room. Parking - will go to public lot at the corner - closer than hotel parking and cheaper. Location is outstanding! Close to everything. Wish it was noted that the hot tub wasn't working. Was looking forward to it. Nothing special about the hotel, close to things and average clean. Beds and Blankets weren't cozy at all. But it was cheap so I would do it again for work or a quick one or two night stay.
