"too expensive for that price"
I stayed there with my family for a few nights, the price is too high compared with the quality of service, the breakfast is rationed and you always have to ask for bread, butter or milk. the location itself is a bit too far from the place we had to visit and shopping we had to make. the rooms are though relatively comfortable and the personnel quite […] attentive to our requests. "Beautiful Location but not the Room"
I have stayed at this Inn a few times, always in the 2 buidlings overlooking the river. However this time I was in a different building, which seems to be neglected. The microwave was very old and didn't work. It looked horrible with the top of it stained and the metal had warped. There were gauges in the desk and wall that hadn't been repaired. Everything I read indicated focused on the renovated rooms. Our booking confirmation indicated that our room opened to a balcony. The room we were given was in an older building and was not renovated at all. The carpet & decor were old. The room did not open to a balcony - it opened to the sidewalk across the front of the building, one step up from […] the parking lot. There was a fogged-up window that opened to a neglected bit of grass that separated that building from the front building. The building shown in the pictures has rooms (exactly the same floor plan) that were renovated and opened to a balcony - we did not have a room like that at all. I expected 'newly renovated' and I got 'tired, dated, should have been renovated 10 years ago'. I printed and brought the initial booking confirmation, not the only with details like "opens to a balcony" so I didn't bother to challenge the room assignment. There were very few cars parked at the renovated building so I don't think there was a reason why we were put in one of the older buildings unless it was the price. Even if we had been in the building behind us, we could have had a balcony (some rooms under renovation). On a positive note - there was a courtesy computer in the lobby and the bathroom was clean. "Uncaring Staff and curious cleanliness"
Rooms have wall paper falling off the walls in areas. Bed spread, couch and curtains all made from same material... Did not really want to sit on top of the bedspread cause it looked like it was probably housing a family of critters... Was provided a non-smoking room that was very smokey. Upon request I was immediatley moved but to another non-smoking room that was also smokey, just less so and was perfumed to hide the smell. "There is no airport shuttle"
The room was not sound proof at all. You could hear everyone and the people under us complained about our 4 year-old being too noisy....they pounded on the door to let us know. "Basic but a place to sleep"
I arrived very late due to flight delay, 2.30am This is a $20.00 taxi fare, car rentals close at 1am ! Someone was there to greet me. She was polite and helpful. I was loaned an internet cable as there is no wireless network there. The rooms are not very soundproof, woken at 5am by car horn, repeatedly for 2-3 mins. "Misleading Hotel Information on website"
Hotels.com website said hotel had a free airport shuttle and that was why I chose it. When we got the hotel and asked about booking the shuttle, we were told there was no shuttle - free or otherwise. Hotel was listed as 2.8 km from airport but since there was no shuttle we had to take a cab to the airport which cost $18. A 2.8 km cab ride in Ottawa […] should be about $9 not $18.
