I am used to hotels on both sides of the spectrum: ritzy five-stars and lowly motels. This stay, however, I will never forget. Coming to Ottawa for a three-day conference, I didn't know what to expect.. but found the hotel to have THE friendliest staff that worked with you to address your needs and concerns, SUPER-CLEAN rooms and hallways, and a breathtaking […] view of the city. The hotel staff can even provide a fridge and a microwave upon request and the parking fees are very reasonable (with an ability to leave and re-enter the garage for free using the parking pass). The hotel is very close to everything, being located in the heart of downtown Ottawa.. so walking (or driving) to restaurants and sights was a breeze. If you want to mail things out, the Post Office is about 5 blocks away and there is a mail drop system within the hotel with frequent pick-up times. I am genuinely impressed with the Delta Hotel and am absolutely infatuated with Ottawa! Highly recommended.. you won't regret your stay here. Read more

The renovations turned out really nicely at this hotel; however the air conditioner units are extremely loud in the rooms and it seems have not been updated. The rooms are not overly large but still spacious enough and very modern. The Downtown Delta is in a great location for anyone in town on business. The newly renovated lobby is bright, clean and modern, with lots of spaces to hold impromptu discussions. Hotel desk staff was friendly and welcoming upon arrival and throughout my stay. My room was large and well appointed. I loved the concept of the "internet wall" located on […] the desk- with pull out cords to support various kinds of connectivity and a host of plugs for laptop, smart phones etc. They really gave some thought to this - best set-up for working I have every seen. Unfortunately some of the features (e.g.) projecting my laptop through the big flat screen, did not work. I assume this is still a work in progress. The only negative was the service in the dinning room. When I went in for breakfast the hostess pointed at a table for me to sit and said she would be right with me. I waited 20 minutes for service and finally had to set the table myself and go to the buffet to get food. The hostess was unapologetic and simply dropped a bill on my table. I had to ask for juice and coffee rather curtly to get any service. This instance aside, I would recommend it to any business traveller. Read more

the service is great, they are very helpful and polite. construction in front of building was in progress but it didnt disturb my stay. the pool is nice but the gym is small, almost good for 3 max at a time without feeling bothered. tim hortons at lobby level is awesome. hotel is well located that you love taking walk in the surroundings.

I stayed at the Delta for business during the long weekend and had a great stay. The hotel is very well situated to navigate throughout the city either by car or on foot. I had one of the newer mode rooms and it was quite lovely. The only hiccup in the room was the a.c. took quite a long time to cool down the room (I suppose having the sun beating down […] on the 17th floor windows didn't help matters). One small design flaw in the new bathroom is the sink faucet is too close to the edge of the bowl and water tends to go all over the counter when washing your face or brushing your teeth. Did this in any way make my stay less enjoyable? No. These are very minute things. Although I read the hotel entrance was difficult to locate with all the construction that was not the case. Perhaps if workers had been present it may have been more confusing--I'm not sure but I never a problem finding the door. And as far as the parking fee goes? Twenty dollars for 24hrs with in and out privileges? Fantastic! Try going to NYC or San Francisco where $50 is the norm without in and out privileges. Overall a great stay in a great location. Looking forward to a return trip to Ottawa to see the hotel once construction is complete. A solid choice! Read more

Not a terrible hotel but there are better ones in the area for the price. The rooms are nice and clean - a bit smaller than I expected but not taking any points away for that. The hotel is undergoing massive renovations/construction to the front and main lobby and the parking is not well marked so I had to guess which was the parking entrance and hope […] for the best. The elevators to and from the parking garage are on their last legs and I had to say a silent prayer every time I stepped into one and the doors closed (after 10 minutes of waiting for the elevator because the "up" or "down" light would go out every 10 seconds and stop calling the elevator). I brought this to the attention of the staff and received the customary smile and "we'll look right into that!" like they weren't aware of such problems. They were still happy to charge me the surprisingly high daily parking fee even with these issues. Overall, not the worst hotel choice you can make in DT Ottawa but I was very underwhelmed. I've been staying on Ottawa hotels every week for over 2 years. I'm free to choose nearly any hotel in the downtown... and Delta Ottawa City Centre is near the bottom of my list. I stayed once when it was the Crowne Plaza and decided never to return. I was duped into believing that the renovations could make this hotel better, but it's just not the […] case. This is my second stay in four weeks and I'm less happy with my room this week. (Noting that last week I had flooding from the 1970s AC unit). They moved the lobby between stays (thanks for not posting that anywhere).. The internet access is top notch and I really like the TV cables conveniently located on the desk (HDMI, VGA, RCA sorta)... It's a great idea if the cables were more than three inches long and if the TV actually supported the connections. I called the desk for help since the remote doesn't allow you to change the TV Input.... and they said 'no', they don't support guest computer issues. Nice. Read more

I just need to clarify my rating - the hotel was under construction (conversion to a Delta from a Crowne Plaza) during my visit and therefore can't really be expected to be at its best. For instance, the front entrance was completely blocked off, construction began at 8:30am every day, and one of the conference floors was extremely cold the entire time. […] That being said, the staff were amazing, the room (pre-renovation) was still clean and nice, and they were clearly doing their best to cope with the chaos of major renovations. Convenient for business or pleasure, but not without a few hiccups. The reservation information stated that the room had a fridge. The people at the front desk said there were no fridges. Hotel itself is nice, clean and conveniently located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. I booked a room with King size bed well in advance of my arrival through hotels.com. When I arrived, they gave me a room with Queen size bed saying they ran out of King. It was also not a "premium" room but a standard one. They said the partial refund is out of the […] question because it was booked through "third party". This was unfortunate. Secondly, I left a personal item behind when i checked out. The hotel did tell me they found it but I have not been able to reach anyone in the Lost & Found department to arrange for a delivery. Their service level and friendliness seemed to go out the window once I checked out. I may end up having to travel back to the hotel to pick up the item personally. Read more

The hotel is an old property, and looks it. It is a dump. The first room they gave me had a window that was stuck open, at 10 degrees below freezing. This was because the window was old and falling apart, not because it was frozen. I can't believe the cleaning staff hadn't noticed this obvious defect. They sent a maintenance man up with a drill and […] screws to forcibly bolt it closed, which really cramped the conference call I had to join at the time. It didn't work, so they then put me in a room 8 floors up, without any drinking glasses, and a busted ironing board. On the plus side, the staff in the hotel were unfailingly courteous and helpful, and the breakfast buffet is as good as expected. I understand that Delta is renovating this property in 2011, not a moment too soon. This was not a Delta experience or a Delta value. (Head office, please note.) Read more
