I've stayed at other Westin hotels in other parts of the world, and this one didn't seem to be at the same level. There were plastic cups in the bathroom instead of glass, plastic trash cans of different colors, no amenities such as shower caps, for instance, no slippers. Room was comfortable but bland. Great location, but I tried to go down and talk to the concierge about 8 times and some one was there maybe 2 out of those 8 times. When I did speak with concierge though, personnel was very friendly. Due to flooding in hotel the walls were torn up in my hall way, but not a problem.

You start out with lousy parking arrangements that you pay $20 a day for followed by a lack of information in the hotel lobby or your room about the surrounding area. If you're a smoker you aren't even given a place to sit down outside and the food is exhorbitantly priced and lousy. This is a place concerned only with making money and not you.

The Westin was a great location for our family (two adults, two small children) and the deluxe room was a plus. Ample room for kids, luggage, strollers, etc. Comfortable beds, great bathroom and plenty of amenities. The pool was adequate. The lobby is small, so it can get crowded quickly. This also serves as the main thoroughfare between the Westin lobby and the parking garage. Very annoying ... especially when not all of the elevators are working (That said, the hotel staff was very happy to usher our family to the service elevators to help us cope with pushing two strollers through this maze of people). The location downtown is terrific. Our room had a tremendous view of Parliament, the Canadian war memorial, Rideau Canal and the rest of the historic buildings of Ottawa. That said, the "clientele" outside of the Westin parking garage - which it shares with the Rideau Centre -- is sketchy. A bit more could be done to clean this area up. But other than that, it was an easy walk to downtown, the Byward market, the canal, etc. Read more

This was the 6th hotel I had stayed at in Ottawa since June 2012. It was, initially, my favourite to date. My room (1703) was very beautifully designed and really comfortable to lounge in and relax. However, at sleeping time, I found the ventilation system in both the foyer of the room and bathroom to be quite loud. My sense was that it is always loud. However, I am willing to give them anther chance & see if the next room is quieter. It really is a beautiful hotel with easy access to Rideau Centre mall via the 3rd floor, without having to step outside in the winter weather. Very convenient! And the location is excellent, close to ByWard Market, National Gallery of Canada, etc. I did not access the restaurant, fitness centre or spa. Overall the hotel is very clean and the staff accomodating. The hotel restaurant/launge is very nice and service excellent. The Valet parking isn't worth it as the Rideau Centre parking is attached and there is an entrance to the hotel from the parking garage .. save yourself $10. We had a exercise room ... it came equipt with a spinning bike, exercise […] ball, dumb bells, yoga mat and instructional videos. They were updating the elevators so we had to use the service elevators in order to get to the lobby without having to wait. The Hotel is located walking distance to the By Ward Market, Parliment Hill, Univerisity of Ottawa and a short distance to Carleton University. Read more

The Westin Ottawa is located in the heart of all that Ottawa has to offer. It's 2 blocks away from Parliament Hill, the Byward Market, the National Art Centre and more. Location-wise, you could not ask for a more convenient place. While we thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Westin, the hotel is doing maintenance work on its elevators, which means long, […] long waits for an elevator. Once they resolve this, things will be better. However, in the meantime, staff are trying to help and direct patrons to the housekeeping elevators to reduce wait times and line-ups. We had a lovely stay at the hotel and would recommend it to anyone. Their famous Heavenly Beds are famous for a reason. It was the best sleep I've had in a long time! Read more

The staff was extrememly helpful and courteous. I do however have 2 small irritants: 1. We were late starting breakfast, and chose the buffet - however all the hot foods had been removed and so we had a cold meal - delicious, but we were charged the full buffet price which seems quite unreasonable. 2. They had apparently run out of bath towels... We were asked to call the front desk in the morning and some fresh ones would be brought up???? On the hottest night of the summer, this was not good, if we all wanted to take a shower. Efore and after our wedding reception. Fortunately, a chamber maid was on the floor and gave us extra towels. The written description of the room was a bit misleading. The deluxe king did not come with a bath tub, nor was there an i pod dock in the room. Having said hat the view was amazing and the staff were great. So while I was a bit disappointed it was still a great stay.

Overall, it is a very good hotel. The service was as expected for this class of hotel and nightly rates. Room was clean, spacious, and adequately decorated. The hotel restaurant/bar was quite good. I will definitely stay there again the next time I am in Ottawa.

It was a good stay. although i booked a premier room asking for kingbed but it was not available! and my father forgot his medication bag in the drawer. when i called the hotel at the same day, they told me that they checked everywhere and couldn't find it!! which is weird.

The Westin is a nice place to stay. Nice renovation and attached to the Rideau centre makes for a comfortable stay. My last 2 stays - when showering in off peak hours, hot water takes 5 minutes or so to get to the shower!

We were in Ottawa for a conference. Ottawa Westin has excellent conference facilities and is in a great location for seeing downtown Ottawa without a vehicle. My son -12 and I did a mom and son 4 day mini vacation to Ottawa at the end of July 2010. Westin Ottawa is located very close to Parliament, Museums, Byward Market and attached to the Rideau Shopping centre. We could actually see Parliament from our room.
