Club Arias Bed & Breakfast

There was nobody around when we arrived. We wandered around for 20 min. before finding someone. They upgraded us to a two room "suite" which was fine because we were only staying 1 night. We only saw 2 other rooms being used. Water to brush your teeth and wash was brackish. If we wanted a warm shower we needed to go to a showerhouse facility centrally […] located off a courtyard. The owner who checks people in and out was nowhere to be found when we tried to check out. The location is not close to anything - it is in a poorer section of Aruba below the airport. Everything else to see and do is above the airport. I left a pair of reading glasses there and sent Arias a message asking about them. She replied that she would check and she never got back to me. We decided that the most we could give Club Arias was 2*. There is no comparison to the other facilities on Aruba and the other ratings given Club Arias are deceiving. Read more

Lovely island-style oasis was an unexpected surprise. This is not your average boring chain hotel or stuffy B&B. The setting was idyllic and unusual, the owners friendly and knowledgeable, the food fresh and home-cooked. Club Arias felt very home-like, and the other guests at breakfast were equally casual. Two nice swimming pools meant you could float […] the day away without seeing a soul. Kite-surfing, snorkeling, tours, etc. easy to book. Bring your bugspray to fight car-sized mosquitoes. No bar on premises (BYOB), but plenty of lemonade and juice 24-7. Restaurants and a coffee shop were walkable. Gabriel's pizza on-premises was superb. Island bus stop across the street. Worth every penny if you want to live and explore more like a local for a few days! Read more

Not wanting to be submerged in the highrise busy hotel strip and certainly not wanting to pay a premium for it, we decided to stay at hotel Arias which is away from the tourist hub. Club Arias is decent as a B&B, but not like a mainstream hotel chain. The rooms were decent, clean and well presented, although wear and tear is apparent at the edges despite […] only being 18months old (toilet roll holder & shower head holder were broken but usable in our room, but our friends room had no issues at all). Our airconditioner was also too noisy to use overnight, which whilst not a problem for us (not big users of A/C) it will be a problem for others. Arias himself is extremely welcoming and really cares that his guests have a good time. He will make sure you are set up with the tools to enjoy your vacation so it makes it very easy to get the most out of your stay. The breakfasts are good, the pool is great and the feel of the place is warm. The local beaches are quiet and great to be away from the crowds of the main hotel strip, however, if you want to pay for the waiter service and pinocoladas on the beach this is only a drive away on the main strip. We also went on the Arias tour. It was expensive so not for everyone but we had a great time in the vehicles (pretty much golf carts on steriods) and were happy with the experience. Club Arias is for you if you hire a car and like to avoid the tourist traps and want something more personal on a smaller budget. The casinos are only 15-20 min drive away and although we had a good night when we drove into town, but it was good to get back to the quite localness of Club Arias. However, if you want to spend more, be in the middle of the tourist area and do not want to hire a car then this may not be the best fit. Read more
