Everything looked nice at a quick glance however when I dropped my phone behind the side table of the bed I clearly saw massive amounts of dust and dirt... gathered behind. The bathroom didn't have an exhaust fan. It did have a vent but only to heat or cool the room. The towels had brown stains on them. I noticed a booger on the shower curtain while showering. As we were gathering our things my friend notice some used tissues under the bed. Our room obviously wasn't cleaned thoroughly enough before our stay. Finding used tissues that are not your own is disgusting. Some of the trim above the doorways outside of the rooms was falling off the wall. Everything else was wonderful. The service was excellent. The staff was very polite and helpful. The bed was extremely comfortable. I really liked the valet parking and to have access to the elevator you required your room key. The hotel staff is very helpful, room was clean and tidy (especially the bathroom). Continental breakfast and the Second Cup attached to the hotel is a bonus. Highly recommended for someone who wants to stay by all the pubs on Whyte Ave, yet a quiet retreat to relax in.

I chose the hotel mainly because of the location, big factor was also the reviews I read, but I think It was overrated. Im not impressed with their breakfast, and its old you can see some water stain marks in the ceiling.

I love the newer renovations that have made this hotel an even better option for Edmonton trips. I've stayed in better hotels for less. Needs to be upgraded in order to suit the price, location and service. Everyone was very nice. They should not charge for a bottle of water..

The Varscona was a good experience for us. It was easy to find. There are lots of amenities in the area. We walked around the area on Saturday night and it is certainly a 20's crowd, for the most part, but we felt safe and had no issues. Thre appear to be some nice restaurants and shops in the area - we met with friends out in the burbs, so didn't try […] them out. the room seemed a little small when we first entered, but it was adequate and clean. We didn't know about the valet parking when we arrived so we parked about a block away and walked over. We did use the valet parking later and it was very convenient. Read more

Booked for the first weekend of the fringe. Couldn't have worked out better. Great location, friendly staff, nice breakfast well stocked right to the end. Will book there again, a little on the pricy side but you definately get what you pay for.
