"Chateau Lacombe - Overrated"
I've stayed in lots of hotels across Canada, US and Australia and I would have expected much more from the well known Chateau Lacombe. Room was decent, comfortable and clean. All amenities were old though, bathroom steamed up and as the fire detector was right outside the bathroom you were warned not to leave the door open, yet no ventilation or fan […] in the bathroom. Heater was very loud. No coffee available in the lobby, this is the norm at almost every other hotel I have ever gone to. $15 for parking at night that was supposed to be a discount rate, if we would have paid from the meter it would have been $4 for the night. "Nice stay"
It was good, but one night was not long enough to judge. The room was clean and the staff were helpful. The LaRonde (revolving restaurant) was wonderful, Romantic and delicious. "Great location, creepy parking elevator"

"Chateau Lacombe Edmonton - Stay well away"
Not as much of a reivew as a list of horros: -The service at the front desk was not very good or helpful from check in to check out. -Paint was peeling off the interiror of the tub and hair was stuck in the peeling paint. -The bed was extremely hard and both of us woke with sore arms and legs. -The towels were horrible, taking off skin as one tried […] to dry off. - At 9:30 in the morning we were woke out of our deep sleep by someone knocking on our door then entering our room, with no anouncement or warning. This person(s) then proceeded to continmue this practice through out the remainder of the floor. -I tried to call the front desk and complain but the phone was broke and would not allow a call to the front desk. -On check out they tried to charge my credit card for the room even though it was a prepaid booking. We booked a room with a rivervalley view and we received an amazing view of the river valley, the river boat and much more. It felt as if we were not in the downtown core. "Poor Staff, dirty lobby and elevator"
Poor service and rude server in Bellemy's. 10:55 we went to have a drink and bite and she said she was closing and hours stated open until 12:00. Our keys rarely worked in the elevator and took us a total of 35 min to get to our room Sat afternoon and 15 min Sat morning. Very frustrating. "not great"
the plumbing was noisy, the fans in the room noisy, no microwave oven, no small fridge, no DVD player, there was a false eyelash found within our bedding and a bodily fluid stain on the bedspread.
