I've stayed at Executive Royal Inn several times in the last year, always in the "new" wing, so I cannot attest to rooms in the original hotel areas. Rooms are very well appointed with flat panel displays, nice washrooms, comfortable beds, plenty of electrical outlets to plug into. As hotels go, this is definitely in my top 10% of pleasant experiences, […] and I travel almost constantly. The staff is courteous, the airport shuttle runs every 20 minutes around the clock, which is really nice for those of us who arrive late and leave very early. The business center has a working computer and printer, which is a rarer commodity than one would expect in this technology age. Dining - the main restaurant serves adequate fare, I would rate it 2-1/2 star fare charged at 4 star rates, but it's nice that they have a decent restaurant on-site. There is also a well appointed lounge with comfy chairs and a fireplace, quite nice. For those craving a noisier environment, there is a sports bar as well. I've stayed at several of the other "airport" hotels near YEG, this is the best. All in all, very nice, definitely a solid recommend. Read more

I went to the website, all the rooms looked terrific. For the price, I thought I was in for a real treat. It is located right near the airport, and the shuttle was right on time. When we drove up to the hotel, I thought... "uh oh, welcome to 1995". When I checked in, that thought did not change. But what does that matter, the room is what really counts. […] I checked in, and went to my room. My thought changed. "Welcome to 1985". The blankets, comfortor, and couch were probably older than my kids. It did have a flat screen TV though. The sink drain would not open. I went down to see if I could get a new room. I asked if the room I was in was the newest room they had. They have 1 section that was redecorated. All the other ones are really old. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE UNLESS THEY CAN GUARANTEE YOU ARE IN THE NEW ROOMS. They are one of the few hotels here that have a restaurant, so that is convenient. Customer service was not great. The front desk seemed largely disinterested. I'm sure they get complaints about the old rooms alot. Read more

Being gluten/wheat intolerent the food was very nice and I did not feel limited.I did find the receptionist must have been quite new, as I had to do a lot of question asking as opposed to being informed etc. But every one starts somewhere, I totally understanfd that. A more senior person stepped in on several occasions. I did ask for milk at the conference […] I was attending for tea as there was none. Thw waitress said we have none. I was thinking this is a hotel, so on a second occasion I asked and I said surely you have milk for breakfast. She came back with milk a short while later.The room was very comfortable and the staff were all very friendly. Read more

This was the nicest place I have stayed close to the airport. What clinched it for me was the staff at checkin. The fellow next to me was on business and there had been a mix up in his check-in date. The hotel had him coming in the night previous, but he showed up a day late. They had already charged him for last night's room, so they comped him for […] that night! Good for the hotel! I was very impressed. So often these things happen, especially when it is business travel, and someone else makes the arrangements. The Executive Royal Inn is perfect for the traveler who is on business or needs proximity to the Edmonton Airport and does not need anything fancy. The food is excellent, clean rooms and after staying three times I find the staff on the whole to be excellent. However, on checking in this last visit the young man at the front desk (Alexander) was rude […] and messed up our reservation and was insisting on a $250.00 deposit even though our room had been paid for. This is not the usual unprofessionalism we find at this hotel. Our room consequently was double booked and while we were sleeping another guest was given the key to our room and tried to enter. I still recommend this hotel but perhaps Alexander should find employment not dealing with the public. Read more

The hotel was a 2 star at best. The front desk service was good, and they did upgrade our room. Very accomodating that way. The restaurant service was absolutely awful. It took us 40 minutes to get a simple breakfast. They have a buffet, but if you do not take the buffet they say you will have to wait for your food. They do not accommodate the guests […] that stay at the hotel. Ordered room service and they missed bringing things up. Coffee pot in room broke twice in our stay. I had to call numerous times though out the day to get a replacement. You can call housekeeping, but it just goes to voicemail and no one ever answered or called back. Terrible customer service. We travel lots around the world and the service in 3rd world countries beats the service in this hotel, hands down. We will never entertain a stay here again. Read more

We were suppose to have a deluxe one queen bed and a sofa bed and we had two smaller beds.Our room was not cleaned after our first night, no kleenex and toilet paper..Bed was left unmade.Not a happy camper

I have stayed here 3 times now. This hotel is very close to the airport, and has complimentary shuttle service and a nice pub inside which is great. The only complaint I have is that on my third stay, I checked in after midnight after arriving on a late flight, and I was placed in a room directly across from the ice machine and a large wall vent which […] must have provided air circulation for the entire floor. Traveled over half million miles and have not written a review but really need to say about this hotel - the lady who was there at the night was so unfriendly and I almost had to ask if I did anything wrong. I just asked a few questions about the room and breakfast and she was just rude... never felt that offended by hotel staff before.
