I booked this last minute at 20 cheaper than any other decent hotel in the area including the Exec Express sister hotel. The buffet was 14 dollars and wasn't bad other than the bacon was so salty you could hardly eat it. Otherwise it was great. They put me up in the new tower which went in about 2008. "Nice place"
I liked the actual light switches in the wall, so I didn't have to chase all around the room turning on lamps. Plenty of lights, located properly including one directly above the head of the bed with a switch on the wall beside the bed. Internet was fast, desk chair comfortable. "Best airport location"
Very close to the ariport. The nearby (300m away) train was noisy, but only rolled by once in then late evening so not too bad. Shuttle bus runs to the airport every 20 minutes, not on demand. "Probably the best Edmonton airport hotel"
I've stayed at Executive Royal Inn several times in the last year, always in the "new" wing, so I cannot attest to rooms in the original hotel areas. Rooms are very well appointed with flat panel displays, nice washrooms, comfortable beds, plenty of electrical outlets to plug into. As hotels go, this is definitely in my top 10% of pleasant experiences, […] and I travel almost constantly. The staff is courteous, the airport shuttle runs every 20 minutes around the clock, which is really nice for those of us who arrive late and leave very early. The business center has a working computer and printer, which is a rarer commodity than one would expect in this technology age. Dining - the main restaurant serves adequate fare, I would rate it 2-1/2 star fare charged at 4 star rates, but it's nice that they have a decent restaurant on-site. There is also a well appointed lounge with comfy chairs and a fireplace, quite nice. For those craving a noisier environment, there is a sports bar as well. "Great stay"
We ended up in the new part of the hotel much to my surprise. It was a long walk from the lobby but was worth the walk. Beds were great, hotel and airport noise were minimal. Being gluten/wheat intolerent the food was very nice and I did not feel limited.I did find the receptionist must have been quite new, as I had to do a lot of question asking as opposed to being informed etc. But every one starts somewhere, I totally understanfd that. A more senior person stepped in on several occasions. I did ask for milk at the conference […] I was attending for tea as there was none. Thw waitress said we have none. I was thinking this is a hotel, so on a second occasion I asked and I said surely you have milk for breakfast. "Good Hotel Poor front desk service"
The Executive Royal Inn is perfect for the traveler who is on business or needs proximity to the Edmonton Airport and does not need anything fancy. The food is excellent, clean rooms and after staying three times I find the staff on the whole to be excellent. However, on checking in this last visit the young man at the front desk (Alexander) was rude […] and messed up our reservation and was insisting on a $250.00 deposit even though our room had been paid for. This is not the usual unprofessionalism we find at this hotel. Our room consequently was double booked and while we were sleeping another guest was given the key to our room and tried to enter. The Hotel is in good repair, my room was beside the vending machines (which can cause a fair amount of noise) and I heard nothing in my room. The staff in the lounge were very friendly and efficient. The room I was given shared a wall with the elevator shaft. Given the size of the room, it was surprising that the management decided that was the best wall to place the bed against. Room was just fine and clean - but first impressions of the huge entrance area was almost scarey. Lobby floor tiles all de-laminating, everything looked tired, lighting not very cheerful. Felt like the place had not been renovated since Ft. McMurray started up, and they were just taking advantage of flow-through travellers.
