The GOOD NEWS, Sofitel is clean, well equipped, right across the street form the terminal. THis is probably the most modern and "nice" hotel we stayed in during our 3 weeks traveling in Greece. The BAD NEWS, they got you. There's nothing else nearby except the airport terminal. So expect to pay too much for food, and then double what you think is too […] much to get an idea of dining pricing. Get dinner there if you must. In the morning... SKIP the 25Euro breakfast and have a delicious breakfast across in the terminal at one of many nice eateries for a fraction the cost. Read more

This is our second stay at the Sofitel Athens Airport before our early morning flights back to the U.S. It is the perfect location, no taxis or public transportation expenses or worries. Staff was welcoming, friendly, and hotel is beautiful with very comfortable rooms. I had a early flight out of Athens the next morning so this hotel was perfect. Wake up, have breakfast, walk across the street to the airport. Easy and convenient, not the mention a very comfortable and classy room.

Had a 7 am flight, so we stayed here the night before. Room was very modern and clean. You only have to walk across the street to get to the airport. Also close to buses and metro to get to downtown Athens. All of the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Will stay here anytime we fly in and out of Athens.

The hotel is just about everything you need - within a couple of minutes of the airport doors, clean, comfortable, great bar and restaurant on site. It was perfect. The hotel served as a base for my short trips to three Mediterranean Islands. I recovered from the US to Athens trip on the day I arrived. The convenient location (50 yards from the baggage claim carousel) and comfort of the hotel made my transition to European time easy. On day 2 I flew to Corfu for the day and returned to the hotel […] for the night. Again no hassles - 3-minute walk to kiosk check-in - return flight equally convenient. On day 3 I flew to Cyprus and returned to Athens on day 5. The concierge helped me by suggesting places to see and things to do inn Athens and 5 minutes later I was off on the Metro (connected to hotel via overhead walk way) heading to Syntagma Square in downtown Athens for the afternoon and evening. On day 6 I flew to Rhodes for the day. Again the convenience of the hotel enabled perfect hassle free traveling. On day 7 I departed for Belgrade. Before departing on my day trips I deposited my laundry when I departed and it was cleaned to perfection and in my room on return. Many thanks Sofitel Athens for a perfect stay. Read more

Every aspect was exceptional and it was not overpriced as most five star hotels are. Literally, it is 95 feet from the arrivals egress to the Athens airport. No shuttle is necessary if you can walk. Service was excellent. Everyone had a sense of urgency and were very professional.

When I first stayed at the Sofitel, it was luxurious. But this last time, I was frankly surprised by how grubby my room was. The carpet was stained, the upholstery on the chairs was stained, and the bathroom had black mildew between the tiles. It was so noticeable that I was reluctant to sit on the chairs. I was only looking for a hotel conveniently close to the Athens airport, so that I wouldn't have to worry about catching a morning flight. Hotel is much more of a luxury hotel than one would expect for the reasonable rate they charged. One expects well-appointed public spaces, but usually the room turns out so be little more than you would find in a […] good roadside motel. However, here the room was "over the top"--well designed custom furniture, comfortable bed, shower and bath that provided multiple options for every taste. This hotel is across the street from the airport which is the best thing about it. It's a bit unbelievable that its a Sofitel. It is more like the quality of an old holiday inn. It's shabby, a bit musty and low in service. The gym is pretty sad and dated.

The Sofitel at the Athens airport is our favorite stopover "splurge." In our last visit, we were encumbered with a wheelchair-bound traveler, and the staff were incredibly accomodating and helpful, from lending us a wheelchair, to helping with making sure the room was perfectly situated for mobility issues, and reconfirming (twice!) that the airline […] would come to the hotel to help us get back to the airport very early in the morning. While waiting in the lobby at 3:30am in the morning we were offered coffee - what a treat for very weary travelers. LOVE the Coco-Mat beds, linens and towels! Room service food was very good (nothing special but very fresh, well-prepared, generous and very quick - less than 1/2 hour to receive). Read more

Very convenient to walk to and from the airport. Nice room. My only complaint is the hallway rug badly needed cleaning and the room flooring could have used some attention (not necessarily dirty). Great location and everything else was about average.

We arrived early from our cruise ship and the reception desk allowed us an early check-in at 10am. The room was immaculate. The sound insulation was excellent, no airport noise !!! Bed was comfortable. Amenities are first class. Wake-up call at 6am and at airport check-in by 6:30am. Totally stress free.

Very convenient as it's a walk across the street to airport. Lovely lobby, upscale rooms, nice pool and workout area (tiny weight room though). Service in lobby level bar was terrible but food was quite good. Expensive compared to similar downtown hotels but convenience worth it (especially since we had 6:30 am flight.

The location and balcony view from our room, breakast, and the staff really make the hotel special. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and the hotel clerk speaks 5 languages fluently. The breakfast was more than we expected. A slight glitch at check out was worked out by the helpful clerk and manager. Apparently, they did not understand how on-line […] bookings work. After paying for the room in advance through an on-line service, they insisted that we pay again because they had not recieved payment. They said that happened "all the time, that guests thought they had paid for the room, but hadn't." I call the on-line booking service and asked them to explain how the hotel could get their money. Once the explaination was made, they understood, and refunded the payment we had made to them. They were very nice about it and we would stay there again. Read more

Greece was experiencing strikes, but the staff that was working outdid themselves helping us. We do not speak Greek, but their English was very good. The concierge was extremely helpful. We will always stay there if we have an early or late flight out or into Athens. The location was perfect; right across the walkway from "Arrivals."
