Super 8 St. Augustine Beach

Overall the stay was fine. I appreciate that my room was ready in time for an early check-in since the weather was really bad and I wanted to get indoors. Everything appeared clean, but I had to wear socks on the tile to keep my feet from getting dirty. Mostly the stay was average; good for a one night trip.

Close to beach (just cross the street), CVS (just 1 block away). Complimentary breakfast composed of white bread toast, cereals, some cakes, coffee and orange juice. Manager works alone. small pool and outdoor hot tub. I think it's good.

Stayed one night before heading further south. The area is quiet, in walking distance from Panama Grill(great seafood, 60+ year old karaoke on Thursdays) 7/11, gas station, beach etc. The front desk had plenty of info to provide in regards to the historic tours along with restaurant suggestions. The room unfortunately smelled like the inside of an uncleaned […] refrigerator, awful awful. We turned on the AC to attempt to eliminate the scent and that didnt work. One night stay we put up with it. The beds were ok, pillows felt like 4 pair of jeans bundled up in a pillow case. We checked out at 11:08am and were given a childlike reprimand for being 8 minutes late to checkout. Served its purpose for a one night stay. Don't expect more than that. Read more

This is what you would call a "no frills" motel room; it had the basic necessities and nothing more. The bed was reasonably comfortable, too, which was a plus. The only thing that was a bit strange was that there was no telephone in the room-not that we needed it. It was just a first for us! We would most likely stay there again.

Very deceptive description of this property. It was across from the ocean but a very long walk and a discusting part of the beach, there was a huge pipe you had to walk over, rather discusting. The room stunk. Very humid, musty, moldy smelling. I was told it would go away after the AC was on a while..I wish I went away! Far away from this Hotel!

My only major complaint about our stay here was the smell. The room was clean, but the room smelled horrible. Moldy musty water-damaged smell, though you couldn't see any mold or mildew. The proximity to the beach couldn't get much better, but I couldn't handle the odor for a lengthy stay.

When I saw the pet charge I called and spoke directly with the owner and was informed that there was a $20 pet fee. When I arrived she told me that the fee was $20 per night per animal and that I had to relocated to a room with queen size beds not a single king "because the room has a tlle floor and is easier to clean". I responded that none of this […] was discussed on the telephone the night before. She stated the clerks errors were not her problem. I said that she was who I spoke to and she denied it. I pointed out that the night clerk was male with a southern drawl and she is female with a Hindi accent and the two could not be confused. When we got to the room the floor was filthy and turned our feet black, we asked that it be mopped. During our entire stay it was never cleaned. The hotel was a good bargain especially for the location - right across from public access to the beach. There was a slight mildewy smell in the bathroom, but overall the room appeared clean. We saw no sign of bugs or other pests. It is an older hotel but still in decent shape. The breakfast bar was rather sad, but I have actually seen worse.

Everything was ok. Room was decent size, smelled a bit musty, sheets were rough, towels were very used. Pool was clean. Breakfast was minimum but served it's puposed. Manager on Duty, Sue, was nice, she made us laugh and feel comfortable. Seemed just a bit pricey for the quality but didn't feel unsafe or dirty.

Don't expect turn-down service and mints on the pillows. This is budget lodging, folks. But as far as THIS Super 8, it's really good budget lodging! You can expect a large room (larger in square feet than many I've seen 3 times the price elsewhere). Do expect a relatively quiet night (and we were right outside the pool). There was a cockroach on the bathroom floor but it was the good kind... DEAD. Saw no other insects of any kind. Sheets were clean, two queen beds were comfortable (many rooms these days only give you doubles at this price). Pool was clean and not too cold, jacuzzi was wonderfully warm and working. Overall, it was a pretty good stay. However, we had to spend the 1st night in a smoking room because, although we had requested a pet-friendly room, no one had called to confirm this for the check-in date (only 3 pet-friendly rooms available). The beach is across the street, and it's less than 10 minutes to the historic area. The room was clean, felt safe, and had good climate control. There were a number of things that made me think of this as a lower-end Super 8. It was OK other than they really really needed to backwash the pool filter and run it. The pool was cloudy and had lots of trash and bugs in it. BTW it looked nothing like the picture on the site. The room was supposed to be non smoking. As soon as we opened the door we noticed the smoke smell. The administrator assured this was a non smoking property, however, the bed sheets were full of cigarette holes and even torn. It's a typical Super 8. It's a clean, decent, no-frills place for the price. Great Location short walk to the beach access and pier. Park has events like a farmers/craft market and concerts by local bands. 10 minute drive to historic St. Augustine.

The hotel is close to the beach, room was small for 2 adults and 2 teens. Room was clean but when we needed extra towels or pillows we could only get a couple extra towels and no pillows, they ran out of both. Continental breakfast was mininal.
