First of all, you can't really find the entrance of hotel due to the strange setting, if you thought you missed the entry 'road' and try to make a turn, you will end up on high way. They really have to make some effort to show the entrance of hotel. Second, the whole hotel smell like over-scented restroom, they have to really cut down the artificial […] frangrance or switch to another cleaning product. I asked for a room that is away from traffic, which I got, but then it's right on the third floor facing to the interior opening, which is sort of bar/lobby downstairs, there was groups of people hanging there with loud music and noise till midnight, I don't know if it's worse than highway traffic or not. Also, if you are paying for self parking $15/day, you won't expect to walk from behind of the hotel building through some dark corners, which, I will feel very unconfortable to walk alone by myself during the night. "worst hotel experience of my life"
We arrived at the Hilton late (approx. 12:30 AM) after a 45 min shuttle wait that never came.The smell was the first thing we noticed. Went looking for a bottle of water to find all the vending machines were out of order. Pizza boxes littered the hallways. Very old run down property that needs some tender loving care. Very dirty hallways and public areas, bad smell in the room hallways. Well ive been in a hotel that had stains on the floor and two cigarettes on the floor in Ocala....and in a hotel in Tampa that had so much mold in the refridgerator u could not see the metal of the shelf. "Ft Lauderdale airport Hilton Hotter than Hell"
Okay this property is stunning when you arrive. Public spaces are lovely and all but right off you are charged for everything. Okay I am fine with $14 parking really I am as I am fine with charging for wifi and having no free breakfast....it's a Hilton not a Hampton. You can call down after you are in the room to request a refrigerator which I am sure […] would be an upcharge. I get that. But no working AC? that I will not do again. You don't call the local team The Heat for nothing. Our room was probably 90 degrees when we checked in....I cranked the air on and thought well it will cool off in a bit. By 8 pm I called down to the front desk and said our air is not working. The front desk called back and assured me it would be cold within the hour. At 10 pm I got up and took another shower and dipped a towel in ice water to put on my boyfriend's back. The room never cooled off.....we got zero sleep. The television looks like a television I had in the 80s and had a picture like my television in the 70s....in the country....before cable! Really it was just so disappointing and when I mentioned the lack of air when I checked out I was told I am sorry you were disappointed. Excuse me? Not we are sorry we disappointed you. There was no offer to change rooms for us. Funny thing I had spent a few days in the Hampton Inn in Key Largo and was blown away by how wonderful that stay was. I just expect more from Hilton. It was just a sad way to end a vacation. Needless to say I will be staying at the Sheraton across the way next time, and since my boyfriend lives in Key Largo there will be a next time soon.
