The Fairmont Orchid in Kamuela, Hawaii, is poised on 32 tropical acres along the sunny Kohala Coast on Hawaii's Big Island. Adjacent to the Francis H. I'i Brown Golf Course, this oceanfront property is one-half mile from the Puako Petroglyph Archeological Preserve. Complimentary shuttle service within the resort is available upon request.

Hawaiian music accompanies the Hawaiian cuisine served at Brown's Beach House, featuring locally grown produce, mainland meats, and island seafood. The Orchid Court provides al fresco, buffet-style breakfasts and a la carte selections, while Norio's Sushi Bar & Restaurant boasts a menu featuring tempura, fresh sushi and teriyaki. Oceanfront massage cabanas and waterfall massage houses are hosted at Spa Without Walls, where pampering services include the Big Island Coffee & Vanilla Exfoliation Treatment and the Lomilomi Massage. A 36-hole championship golf course is featured at the Francis H. I'i Brown golf course, while 10 tennis courts reside at the property's Vic Braden Tennis College. A fitness center contains free weights and cardiovascular equipment. Kayaking, surfing and snorkeling are available on site, with additional amenities including two lava-rock spa tubs, and a 10,000-foot oceanfront pool. Children's activities include the Keiki Aloha program, offering nature walks, snorkeling and arts and crafts activities for a fee.

The 540 guestrooms feature crown molding, teak-wood furnishings, upholstered armchairs and decor in tones of khaki, saffron yellow and pale jade. Sliding-glass doors open to private furnished lanais with ocean or garden views. Bathrooms feature dual marble vanities, complimentary toiletries, bathrobes, phones and separate showers and bathtubs. Guestrooms feature LCD cable televisions with pay movies.

Brown's Deli - Offering on-the-go snacks, sandwiches, fresh fruit, salads, pastries, and coffee drinks. Open all day.
Luana Lounge - Located near the main lobby, this leisurely and comfortable spot is perfect for relaxing and enjoying tropical libations and delectable pupus (appetizers). Features local Big Island art. Open mid afternoon until late night.
Kahakai Bar - Cocktails and pupus are served beachside under a Polynesian-style thatched roof. Open from late morning until early evening.
Resort staff can assist guests with snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and other water sports; fees apply. Cultural and nature hikes are also available (surcharge). Complimentary water-aerobics classes are held in the resort's 10,000-square-foot freeform pool each morning. Other facilities include two outdoor spa tubs, and a fitness center. Guests have access to 10 tennis courts, with a pro shop and instruction available; fees apply.
For a one-time per-person fee, guests may obtain an optional activity pass that includes snorkeling, beach, and kayak equipment; yoga, surfing, and tennis lessons.
The Fairmont Orchid is adjacent to the Francis H. I'i Brown Golf Course, which features two 18-hole, par 72 golf courses with ocean views and green fairways patterned with black lava.

"Beautiful, but secluded."
We stayed here on the last night of eight nights on the big island. Beautiful hotel and location. We are not big resort people (we spent most nights at B&Bs) and found it a nice change of pace. "Best hotel in this area"
nice hotel lobby, restaurant, beach, and pool. The King Kam provided a nice luau, although it got a bit long and we left early. The rooms are a little dated in layout, but the hotel has had recent renovations. The staff were very friendly and helpful. "10th Anniversary"
We love this hotel and have stayed here several times. We have never been disappointed. As always, the staff and the hotel itself were wonderful. We came here to celebrate our tenth anniversary. We made reservations at Brown's Beach house for the night of our anniversary, but we were both disappointed in our experience. The waiter was wonderful, but […] the menu was lacking. I think for the price of our meal, we should have walked away satisfied. I had a fish sampler. It was just that, a sample. It was also over cooked. My wife had a pork chop. I have to admit, it was pretty good, but it was JUST a pork chop with Easy-Mac. Not what you expect from a hotel of this caliber. "Fairmont Orchid - Big Island"
Great hotel. Great staff. Great beach with excellent snorkeling right off shore with the sea turtles. Great gym too! The only negative thing I can say is realy that the self parking fee is ridiculous and they charge for wireless internet. They need to get with the times and have free wi fi access like most hotels do these days. Not impressed with bar […] and restaurant prices. Very high but I guess that is to be expected for a luxury resort. Thankfully there is a nice supermarket with reasonable prices not too far away from the hotel where we purchased our drinks and snacks etc. If you rent snorkel gear, dont rent it at the resort. Rent it from snorkel bobs which is in the same shopping area as the supermarket. You can get gear there for the same price for a day as what the hotel charges for an hour. We got screwed by the Fairmont Orchid: We booked an ocean view room through Hotels.com, but the place was packed and they put us in a partial ocean view room (with two queen beds, when we had requested a king--they fixed that by moving us the next day, but not the view). This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel! It was like checking into paradise. They really thought of everything down to the last detail. The lagoon was great and we were able to snorkel with sea turtles just outside of the lagoon! The pool and hot tubs were wonderful as well as the beach. The service was impeccable, everyone was extremely nice and helpful. […] The resort is away from all the hussle and bussle of Kona, so that can be a bit of a drive to visit the more happening areas, but I can see that oine wouldn't have to leave the property if they so desired. Just a word, to self park costs money, which we didn't expect, but several hotels charge a parking fee. The hotel was beautiful! The pool and beach area were great and a perfect place for snorkeling. We were disappointed with our room. We paid for an ocean view and had more of a golf course, mountain view. It was a wonderful view, but not what we paid for. Although we reserved a room with one king bed, we were told because of how we made our reservation […] that only rooms with two queen beds were available. A bit disappointing for a honeymoon! The staff was friendly, however, they did not make us feel comfortable since we were not part of the presidents level. They definately catered to those guests over the rest. "Great Romantic Getaway"
My husband and I stayed here for a few nights at the end of our honeymoon. We greatly enjoyed the beauty, comfort, and service at the Fairmont Orchid. It was extremely relaxing. We especially enjoyed snorkeling in the bay (steps away from our room) with turtles and all kinds of fish, and renting a cabana for a day that looked directly out over the ocean […] (gave us some peace and serenity being away from all the kids/families). I also greatly enjoyed the morning yoga class (on the beach!) and walking along the coast trail that goes north and south of the hotel. There's not much near it except other hotels and a small shopping center, so we often went over to the Kings/Queens shops in Waikoloa village for food/groceries/snacks and to watch the beautiful sunset at A-bay. We ate lunch at the Fairmont deli a few times and at Brown's for a sunset dinner, which was very romantic and memorable. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone! "Idyllic place with spotty service"
The location of the hotel is perfect and the grounds are beautiful. The hotel has all the amenities you need. The rooms are comfortable and clean but we did not have black out screens so we were not able to sleep in. The service was our big issue - we had problems in every place we ate (Brown's on the Beach, Norio's, and at breakfast). "Would never stay at a Fairmont Orchid again"
We booked this hotel as part of our 2 week Hawaii Honeymoon, staying at a total of two hotels and 2 bed and breakfasts, and to be honest, the B+B's were nearly superior in every aspect than the Fairmont I found the desk staff, not naming names, to be very very rude, arrogant and dismissive, every time i had dealings with them my BP was raised! a general […] lack of interest and "couldnt be bothered" attitude,with some serious snobbery. A car manufacturer was having a retreat at the hotel at the time and the staff seemed to be more interested in following them around attending to their every whim than to helping or giving any time to "regular" guests and speaking with a number of guests we found this to be a running theme with nearly all of us. A serious let down the hotel itself is nothing special, run of the mill, with a small beach area and badly laid out Hidden Costs. even though i know its nothing really new, i still have issue with them here, considering the costs we paid to stay at a so called superior hotel. the parking rates, for actually staying at the hotel are ludicrously high, as is the cost of internet access. i have no problem paying for stuff but at a hotel like this i expected better. and when i did purchase a period of internet, it wouldnt work and all i was told was "not our problem, nothing we can do, no refunds" The service staff, cleaners grounds people etc are pretty much the only positive i have with the hotel. They were always polite lovely and talkative, and recognised how ridiculous "elements" of the hotel were when we discussed it with them the restaurants on premises are more "nothing special" with sub standard food and service as well. On 2 seperate occasions i ordered meat, well done with no garnish, (allergies) and on both times got medium rare with garnish. Grossly overpriced for what you get with bad service. Pool. "静かなリゾートを求めるなら"
ホテルでゆっくりリラックスしたい人にはお勧めのホテルです。小さいお子さんはほとんどいませんのでプールでリラックスできますし、小さいですがプライベートビーチでものんびりできます。（他の島のプライベートに比べると本当に小さいのですが） 車で約１０分ほどで世界一にもえらばられた事のあるハプアビーチに行けます。ここは本当に美しく、のんびりできます。無料の公共の駐車場もあるので、最低限の荷物（ビーチタオルと飲み物、サングラス、本）をもって行き、木陰でゆっくり過ごせます。部屋からは、ゴルフコースと海、綺麗に山が見渡せます。部屋はお掃除係の人によって、綺麗に掃除していたり、そうでもなかったり、、、。それがちょっと残念でした。Genuine Hotels.com guest review

ホテル前のビーチ（入り江みたいな所）でシュノーケリングをしていたら、大きなウミガメに遭遇しました。 カフルウ・ビーチパークにいたのより断然大きかったです。 ホテルの設備は特筆する程ではないですが、充分に満足できました。朝食のビュッフェも美味しかったですが、部屋のブローシャーには朝6時からとあったのに、帰国日に行ってみたら、6時半からと言われ、食べられませんでした。残念！ 少し日本人が多かった印象ですね。Genuine Hotels.com guest review
