A modern resort created in the 1970s, Vilamoura is famous for its marina and several championship golf courses. What it lacks in local character it makes up for in facilities as one of Europe’s largest leisure complexes, including most water sports. By night the marina is the lively hub with bars and eateries for all budgets, plus a casino and nightclubs. The adjacent beach of Praia da Falésia is recommended.

Lovely hotel. Aimed at families but "nice" kids - very little brat behaviour Lovely pool area with man made beach. Though this pool was freezing in high season, would not recommend at other times. Great service, helpful staff. Only negative was closeness of balconies. Minor niggle though, will definitely return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"excellent hotel and amenities, ideal location"
I am so pleased that his hotel was recommended to me . Our daughter and nice who are 15 years of age also had a wonderful time. The quality of service in the hotel and around the bar and pool areas was excellent. The food was all cooked fresh and plentiful, the location of the hotel also excellent just 5 min walk to the marina where we found quality […] restaurants and boutiques , the beach also just 5 min walk away. "The Lake Resort i Villamoura, Algarve"
The Lake Resort I Villamoura, Algarve is definitively not a 5 star hotel; as best 3, or 3,5 star. The staff is frendly and service minded, but the hotel is missing an adult swiming pool, (the three existing swimming pools are as best 1,2 m deep with plenty of kids), the lake is a smelling pond, with dead vegetation, and even dead fishes; and it is overpriced […] in every aspect, including food & beaverage.
