A very pleasant lat minute break. The only thing the room would hav benefited from would be them supplying bath robes however for the price I cannot complain.

We booked in for a short weekend break in early December. The hotel was heaving - Christmas work groups, family groups, lots of young children running around etc. Reception and bar area felt like Piccadilly Station. On arrival we were asked if we would like to book for evening meal, this we did as the hotel was very busy. We went down for lunch at 7.30 as booked or so we thought. We were told it had not been booked but we were lucky as they could fit us in. Other people arriving after us did not have such luck. The cushions in our room had stains on them which […] was not nice as they had been put on top of the pillows. Could not use the pool as it was full of kids, we were told to try after 6.0.clock. On arrival at the hotel we were offered a ground floor room with no view or balcony. Second room offered had no view or balcony so on our return to Reception I was ready to complain but I was immediately upgraded to a Golf View Room with Balcony. The spa pool was a little small and very full because of the bad weather. Our main issue with the hotel was the very disorganised breakfast. The hotel was obviously overcrowded and could not cope with the large number of people at breakfast. It did not have sufficient crockery to go round which meant waiting for clean plates, glasses etc. Staff could not keep food counters stocked either which was very frustrating. I feel a little more streaming of residents would have made things much more pleasant. I would still recommend this hotel for its beautiful location and proximity to Chester. Close enough whilst still giving an 'away from it all' feeling. Read more

Spacious room with the added bonus of our own terrace to sit out in the sun, which we did do! Ate in 'The Vines' restaurant two nights out of the three. The second night was a let down as the staff did not take any notice of us, nobody (including the manager!) asked if we wanted drinks etc and it actually took almost half an hour before we managed to […] call someone over to take our order! What a shame as this really was the only 'fault' we could find. Staff appeared miserable, but then they didn't appear to have much of a role model, sorry! House keeping staff were pleasant and helpful, as were the bar staff. We were charged for items we hadn't had, so be careful, but thankfully everything has to be signed for and as it wasn't my signature, there was no way I was paying. This was dealt with without fuss although we didn't get an apology from the receptionist! The grounds were beautiful and we spent time walking around them as well as playing tennis. Next time we will take our bikes as they wanted £13.00 per person for 3 hours, which we felt was a bit steep. Pool & Spa was relaxing but could do with a little bit of a makeover. Lovely breakfast and I recommend the Club Sandwich in the bar! Overall very nice and we will definately visit again but probably wont be eating in 'The Vines'! Tony & Shell Bangor Read more

We really enjoyed our stay at Carden Park. The facilities are fantastic - lovely swimming pool/jacuzzi/sauna etc. Room was really nicely decorated and was clean, as we found the rest of the hotel to be. The grounds of the hotel are stunning and very well maintained, with plenty to do both indoors and outdoors! The hotel is about a 10-15 minute drive […] from the centre of Chester so is convenient for getting to Chester and to the Zoo but is far enough out that it is so peaceful as if in the middle of the countryside. Staff were friendly and helpful during our stay. Only slight negative was a lack of vegetarian evening meal options in both the main restaurant and The Vines 'bistro'/restaurant. Overall really enjoyed our night at carden park. The grounds are in excellent condition, the was spotless and everything in sight was pleasing on the eye. We walked the grounds and golf course more than once, despite windy weather. Had a drink and lunch in Morgan's bar, which was thoroughly enjoyable. The only downside for us was the food in the evening, […] from Redmonds. A lot of the food on the menu looked appetizing and I wished I was staying for longer so I could try more! However, I opted for the chicken with bubble and squeak, and was disappointed. What I expected was a kind of twist on the traditional bubble and squeak for some reason. It wasn't bad in any way, I just expected more. Also my partner is vegetarian and there wasn't a vegetarian main course. She just picked out the animal containing parts (parmesan crisp and tomato jelly). Desert on the other hand was fantastic. Overall a pleasant stay, would definitely go back. Read more

It is a nice spa hotel. However I did find our room a little cold even with the radiator turned up! Overall though we had a very pleasant stay! Would recommend it.
