The Westin Mumbai Garden City

I loved my stay at this Westin - I didn't want to leave the hotel. It's a gorgeous, peaceful oasis in the middle of the hot, crowded, noisy city. It's brand new and everything is in sparkling perfect condition, I enjoyed the little details like apple-citrus-cinnamon water by the check-in (delicious, must try!), healthy menu options, the great 24 gym […] with a fantastic view, even better view from the top floor restaurant (where the breakfast buffet is huge, varied and delicious - don't miss the dosa with coconut chutney), the rooms are spacious, modern and beautiful and best of all is the small paradise of a palm tree and gardenia-ringed pool on the 4th floor. The zenlike music and breeze blowing through the palm fronds drowns out the sounds of the city. Just a short while here in the sun is enough to melt away the stress of a hectic day in Mumbai. The only downsides are that there are long wait-times for the elevators during morning rush hour, and it was a bit difficult to communicate with most of the staff - I think they're probably not used to American accents so if you don't have one it might be easier for you. Overall it's a good hotel. Only issue I had is non smoking rooms have smoking smell . I guess the previous guests were not advised not to smoke. If u cannot take smoking smell. Would advise to visit room and confirm before u move in

every details are perfect exept for smockers like me...since i smocke..in the room was no problems but at the hotel not allowed exept one corner out side the hotel ...so i think it is the only point i saw negatif for the smockers getting to this perfect hotel.. j DEBS

If your intention is to tour Mumbai, this is probably not the hotel for you because it is quite far (when taking into consideration traffic) from the popular tourist sites. The hotel is very new since Jan 2010, so it was a bit tricky trying to explain to the taxi driver where this hotel was. However, as it was a towering building it was easy to spot from the main highway. The hotel itself is super modern and is probably one of the best Westins i have stayed in. The rooms were fitted out with electronic sockets that could take any plug from all over the world- so handy!. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The gym was really big and had all the equipment you could want. The hotel also has an outdoor pool and has a spa. Would definitely go back there again. The staff were great, very helpful and always willing to try and assist. It is an excellent business hotel and was convenient for us. However it is quite a distance from South Mumbai if that is where most of your business is. Having said that taxis are cheap and if you ask nicely the hotel staff will negotiate good rates on taxi fares for you. Over […] all it is a great place. My wife and I needed somewhere to base ourselves for two weeks whilst on business and we will definitely use this hotel again. It lacks the absolute service and attention to detail of the Taj and it doesn't have the restaurant selection either but it is definitely a big step up from an Indian four star. The hotel staff were excellent, eager to please and very professional. We upgraded to the executive club and were treated like royalty. We did not want to leave and whilst most tourist attractions are at least 30 minutes cab ride away we would definitely stay here again.

hotel is not a 5 * the staff is not courtious there was no smile on their face the managers should stay in taj hotels for a night & see their services i from my experience wont recommend anybody this hotel compare to the tariff it was not worth

The overall experience was fantastic but was slightly diminished by the quality of the food in the Indian and Pizza resturant. The international type resturant on the eighteenh floor was particularly good. Staff throughout the hotel were attentive and helpful throughout our stay.

I had an absolutely wonderful second stay in the Westin. If you are not bothered about travelling a bit to other parts of Mumbai, this might be one of your best 5 star options. The rooms are more than comfortable, the bed is its best feature, the bathroom is inviting - especially the bath was wonderful. Great towels (which is rare in India).
