Portlaoise Heritage Hotel

The Heritage is a gorgeous building and the location you can't beat. Parking was additional upon arrival so that was another charge, but the reason I say it wasn't a typical 4-star hotel was because of the configuration of the room itself and the lacking of amenities in the room. The room had a very small tv, no alarm clock, few toiletries in the bathroom, […] and no hair dryer. The bed, stand-alone closet, and the bathroom were all very close together while the desk and table were scattered across the rest of the room. Pool was great. Due to Rose of Tralee full occupancy had to stay in smoking section which was difficult for non smokers. Good that the window opened though. Overall a great experience. Staff was very friendly, helpful and polite. Thank you.

I had a one night stay in the hotel, I used the swimming pool and had breakfast which was very pleasing the room had TV and tea/coffee making facilities and a nice big bathroom. It is well situated in the heart of Portlaoise near shops and pubs.

The Hotel was comfortable however this was are second visit and on this ocassion we had a room at the front of the hotel which on the friday night was very niosey, it was also half term and young children were running up and down the corridor gone 11 0 clock at night ,

the heritage is a very nice hotel, very convenient, smooth running. our two children had a great time in the pool. previously we used the sauna and othe facilities. it is a pity that the restaraunt, kelly's Foundry is so poorly manaqged. It took us 2 hours 20 minutes to have a 3 course meal. we were not in any hurry, but if we were, we would have walked […] out like 4 others did without ordering. We had no assigned waiter/ess. we were served by no less than 3 people. our main course sat on the serving hatch counter for 5 minutes before it was delivered to the table, while a member of staff, who served us previously, polished glasses at the bar. it took us 2 attempts and eventually my wife going up to the bar to get the bill. the service was appalling. we were there the week before and a dublin manager was there, we had no problem. having said that, the food was very good. The place was busy, but a little bit of direction for the staff would help the situation. I would not go back unless I had buckets of time. the hotel is lovely, with pleasant, friendly, helpful staff, namely Patrice, Nicky at the front desk. It was good value for money. Read more

This is a well presented establishment with good facilities. The room was clean and comfortably furnished but the lack of effective air conditioning detracted from the overall comfort. We had read critical reviews about the staff attitude and behaviour prior to our arrival but our experience was good. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming and […] we had a simular experience in all other areas. On the down side, the night we stayed there the hotel was hosting a dinner attended by a large number of guests. The behaviour of some of them after the event ensured we had a sleepless night, suggesting that more effective security is needed on such occasions. Our greatest disappointment was the quality of the cooked breakfast which appeared to be cooked in a steamer. It looked unappetizing and much of it was and we felt the breakfast was not good value for money. Read more

Would class the hotel as a comfortable 3 star. Temperature in room and corrodors way too hot. Air conditioning units disabled in rooms. No control of temperature. No minibar or fridge or safe in room, which is pretty standard for any 4 star hotel. Overal comfortable, but def not 4 star.

Everything was fine for us exactly what we needed reasonable priced accomodation in central location. Only downfall for us was as guests we had to pay €8 for parking which I thought should be free as we were paying guest. Others in our party paid expensive for breakfast in hotal and they said it was awful and cold.

No se pone la calefacción y las habitaciones están heladas. Las colchas de la cama dejan bastante que desear y el tercer día de estancia solo nos dejaron una toalla en el baño. Las habitaciones están un poco viejas. Demasiadas estrellas.
