Literally at Land’s End, Cabo San Lucas sits at the southern tip of Baja California. Here, the Sea of Cortés and the Pacific Ocean meet at the famous Land’s End rock formation (El Arco). Nearby, Lover’s Beach (Playa del Amor) offers superb snorkeling. Although popular for its world-class golfing and sportfishing, Cabo’s after-dark clubs are a rival draw, such as Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina.see all hotels in Cabo San Lucas

"Nice hotel, pushy staff"
My experience started with the check in which was fine until we were FORCED to speak to a "concierge" who was nothing more than a sells person who began to push the hotel services. We were on vacation, not to be sold anything. This person got mad when he found out we already got sold time share tours.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Taxi to town, not walkable when it's hot."
I'd question the Expedia 4.2 rating. Mid-upper 3's is about right. They're amidst remodeling and most rooms are large and have great views, but sub-par overall. We had mold growing on the walls and had to upgrade. The beach is treacherous for casual swimmers and staff strongly discourages ocean swimming, especially during summer/fall south swells. If […] you're experienced it's a blast and the temp is perfect, just watch for sets upon entry and exit because the shorebreak is carnivorous. The upgrade room was awesome, the buffet at Don Diego's may be the best buffet you'll ever get, staff is way cool and far more attentive than my previous Mexico experiences. Pools are very nice, swim-up bar is mighty handy! All that said, the all-inclusive format is a no-brainer, which is best for me... a bear of little brain. All the normal 'activities' are nearby, (snorkel, jetski, boat tours, sport fishing, shopping, etc). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location but needs work"
The hotel has a great location to town with awesome views. Food was less than impressive. They list lots of choices for restraunts but most of which are not open. The buffett was terrible and looked like the same food re-heated everyday, even with the different "themes." Room service was ok, when they answered the phone. The first night we tried calling […] for 30 minutes before calling the front desk to see what the deal was. We were told that they had 1 person, taking orders, cooking and delivering and to keep trying the number. After another hour we had to give up. The location really is the best part, with walking distance to the marina and shops. Hopefully things will be better as their remodel is completed, but in its current state and service i would not stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is good for someone who doesn't want to do much. Pros: location within walking distance from the marina perfect for walking. Room big, clean. Several pools. Very quiet not crowded if you want to relax away from the crowd this is your place. Staff very friendly except for 1 or 2. Cons: Service at the Blue Marlin poor. Food overall not so good. […] Not much to do. Entertainment, poor. Overall: if you want peace and quiet relaxing vacation and don't care about food to much, perfect. If you're looking to have fun, do a lot of activities and night life, not at the hotel you must go to the city which is within walking distance. "Still needs work to be a place to stay."
The room was fine. Said to be ocean view, only could see the tress in front of room. Nice bed and clean. Time is of no value there. Dinner start a 6:00 no way ready to open at 6:45 or so. Lunch not good at all. Not enough tables in the pool resturant. Other place the staff did not like to work and would not give you what you orded language barrier I […] think. Buffet mostly the same food every night not bad but nod good. Staff was very friendly at the resturant at dinner and breakfast. Jorge at the pool was the best I have seen asked my name one time and remembered it right away. This kid should run the place things would be much better. ":( not good"
The hotel is under construction, which means your sleep will be interrupted by all the construction. The hotel staff is great but food service sucks. Our first day, we quickly learned not to order food when hungry. Whether its room service or the restaurant, it takes a 30 or 45 minutes for the food to come out of the kitchen. No swimming allowed in […] the ocean's water, it's too rough. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Literally, this place is okay. My friend and I split our time between here and Riu Palace. There are pros to staying here: great location! It's about a 10 minute walk to town through the marina. We hit up Cabo Wabo and a variety of other clubs/bars. The cons: SLOW service. I mean, I'm used to a small/slow bar, but this was a little ridiculous. We went […] into the pool thinking we'd get faster service at the swim up bar...WRONG. We sat there about 10 minutes w/o being acknowledged. Same thing was with the service at the restaurants. I went down 15 minutes prior to my friend b/c she wasn't done packing, I sat at the restaurant....a woman there made eye contact with me, then never came to my table. Same story with about 3 other workers, it wasn't until I finally said "a little help here would be great" that someone actually came...and he wasn't even a server! Pretty ridiculous. (oh, and I was one of like 6 people there). We went to Don Diego our second night...we waited about an hour for our meal...and they forgot our appetizer, apparently someone had already crossed it out as if we'd already eaten. i overheard another couple complaining b/c they were waiting for 2 hours! It's been nicely remodeled. We couldn't complain of any of the noise. Location is great, but if you want to be served, eat or drink what you paid for in an all inclusive...I'd stay somewhere else. "Vacation to Cabo 7/2013"
I was somewhat disappointed with the service response of the front desk. I tried not to let it get me down. All in all the beautiful surroundings seem to make up for that experience. I did not like the overpowering timeshare hawks. You'd think they'd give you a couple of days to check out the place before they try to get you to buy into a timeshare. […] I even had them calling up to my room trying to get me to go to one of their breakfast presentations. The last thing I want is my phone to ring while I'm on vacation and then to have it be no one I know like a timeshare salesperson was very annoying. I was upset to hear that Sandos was thinking of taking down the large Polapas at the swim up bar. That is the tallest one in Cabo San Lucas and is a historical landmark, in my opinion. I hope that Sandos doesn't change the Finisterra too much from the original state. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is still under renovation. It is a nice place, but the noise level from 7am-6pm Monday-Sunday was unbearable! The large pool/hot tub area was closed and workers were there doing their jobs. You could not sleep off the night before in your room, the pool area or the beach!! The employees there were very polite and just pleasantly said "so sorry" […] when I would nicely reply to their "how is your stay here going?" questions. The time-share people constantly pester you from the moment you walk into the lobby. No rooms were available over 2nd floor due to construction. The rate (non-inclusive) was a joke! No offers to reimburse or waving the cancellation fee. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is located in a fantastic area. Close to the marina, yet right on the beach. The beach in front of the property is AMAZING. Hotel has really nice pool area. The staff on the other hand is slow, and mostly unhelpful. The restaurant/bar service at the pool is painful. If you want to drink or eat, be prepared to wait, and to get questionable […] looks when you ask for service. We were perplexed as to why we had to seek out service every single time. Staff seemed like their job was to just stand around, and pretend to clean rather than actually wait tables/take bar orders. If you can look past the mediocre service, the beach view is worth it. "Close to marina and on the crazy beach."
The hotel was a good location. It was close to the marina, and a mile walk away from downtown. The fish tacos by the pool were really good. We ate that almost everyday. The beach on the hotel has high waves and you can not swim there. Be careful if you walk to the left side at the end, the waves are unpredictable and you could be washed off into the […] ocean. We had a nice view of the ocean and patio overlooking the pool, giant huts. We were charged $10.00 for losing a room key. Also, they give you towel cards. Don't loose them or they will charge you too. Watch out for the little building on the right, they will be hounding you about time share. Security was good. We would walk to our hotel at late night and they would always ask for our room number and check if you stayed there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wait 2 more years for the additions, refurbishment"
I would wait 2 years before returning to El Finisterra. The staff is superb - Roberto and Alvaro at the front desk, Joel (BowWow) and Emma (massage) at the pool, and Gerardo and Jensen at the Blue Marlin restaurant. But service is spotty, for the most part, in housekeeping, maintenance, and in the 2 restaurants - and - there is lots of construction […] noise. Some of the rooms have been refurbished (ours was - room 712) and it still had problems - a very stinky vanity sink (needs bleach), a strange bath set-up for someone who likes baths, no hot water much of the time (warm but not hot), and headboards above the 2 beds that were not attached to the bed or the wall so anything or anyone who leaned against the headboards caused bothersome noise. With only 2 choices for restaurants, there is not enough choice. The breakfast buffet in the Blue Marlin was excellent every day. The other food was hit and miss. The pool area is beautiful and clean. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice place, little old"
I really did like the Hotel Finisterra. It's older and maybe neglected for a time. However the people worked very hard while we where there to keep it clean. I had to rate it as a 3 because it does need a good updating, which is exactly what is going on right now. Sandos bought them out and redoing everything. Thus a lot of construction noise. It was […] only during the day, usually starting at 7am through dinnertime. The staff was nice. We had a couple of very bad nights, with drunk and very rude neighbors. Every time I called down at 1am to have it taken care of, they said they would send security. We never heard security come, but they always calmed down after that, so who knows. I did choose this hotel because it was far from the party scene, but I guess we just got lucky! The pool area is very pretty and the beach is beautiful. I loved the waves (it's not swimmable), and loved the fact that there weren't very many people. You can see whales from the beach if you are looking for them. Overall the stay was nice. I well say I was very disappointed by the time-share people. With in the first day we had two people try and get us to go, and then had another lady chase us down while leaving for a tour a few days later, making us late. If I say no, I mean no! Between the airport, the car rental, and the hotel, we were harassed for 6 timeshare in just he first 24 hrs we were there. Left a very bad taste in our mouths. "Wait until 2014"
The hotel was under construction which I thought would be over after reading early 2012. Our first room was riddled with problems...not so great for a newy years day hangover...not to mention when I walked downstairs to get ice...I walked by to look directly into thebathroom from the hallway to see my girlfriend showering. After they were scrapping […] paint above us as I was lounging on our balcony, numerous things not working...the staff did all they could. Bottom line here...if you want to spend any time in the room at all, dont bother...they call every morning at 8 to get you to try & get a timeshare...etc...once they get everything set, it might be nice, but now dont bother Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel but VERY UNPROFESSIONAL CONCIERGE"
Great location - right by the marina and 5 minutes walk from all activities. with beatiful ocean view. Good sized rooms. Beds were old and not comfortable. The phone as well as a placard clearly said no charges to call 800 numbers in US, Canade. However the operator said all that changed in March 2012 - except they hadn't change these notices in the […] room as of last week of December 2012! Who knows hoe many guests are getting robbed! The WORST feature of this hotel was its concierge. He was very rude and simply uncooperative once he learnt that we had attended a timeshare promotion from Playa Grande and were not interested in a promotion that he tried to push. He even refused to call in a taxi shuttle reservation because we were paying for it by a voucher! Oh, the breakfast in the rooftop restaurant is fantastic! And as you walk out of the campus, right next to it is a fantastic restaurent (San Lucal something Steak/Seafood/Pasta) - What a great place! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel Finisterra is a famous old hotel that faces on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo (the cape). Sun bathers can NOT swim in the ocean at this beach due to the dangerous currents and rip tides. The pool area and grounds are dilapidated and pool decks are cracked; the adjacent bar and cafe are run down and food was unsatisfactory. The hotel lobby and […] rooms were clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. On the bright side, because the entire hotel is currently being remolded, the rooms were relatively inexpensive and the hotel was not crowded. The ocean view at Blue Marlin (and Whale Watch) was glorious and the food was excellent and cooked to order. The property is close to town and the harbor. -California Traveler Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Reasonable price for the area"
Reasonably priced, compared to the Capella next door. Pool area and public area are in general clean and comfortable. Room is big and bathroom disproportionally small, dark and damp. But overall it's comfortable and feels safe. One thing that's really annoying is this place tries to sell you time share and will be really pushy about it. They may also […] lie about some small facts as the time-share supply side is pretty competitive in Cabo. So they will tell whatever you want to hear to get you to go to their time-share presentation. We got hassled various times during our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We've stayed at the Finisterra five times now. The upkeep is deteriorating, but hopefully the new owners will improve things. The phone in the room did not work the entire time. "Look, but don't touch (Unsafe beach year-round)"
The nightly rates were great, but the prices at the bar and restaurant seemed outrageous to me. I just think that this hotel is a great example of a hotel taking advantage of american prices. Not only is the exchange rate in the dollars favor, but they then mark things up to New York drink prices. Drinks in mexico should not cost $10. $5 yes. $10 is […] taking advantage. Especially when you find out how much these employees at the hotel earn. The money the hotel is bringing in is not translating to how much these employees get paid nor for the upgrades in this hotel. Another thing to note is that this entire stretch of beach is unsafe for getting in the water. So if you want to go in the ocean you have to go somewhere else completely. "Great pool & location, lacking simple conveniences"
Location is great, price is great, pool hugh. One concern is the hotel now becoming a Sandals is going cashless - so you have to pay for everything at the hotel with credit card. I found it easier to walk to the marina and get great food and be able to use cash. Also some of the simple conveniences were not available - ice machines not working, no ironing […] boards or hair dryers in the rooms and service staff very limited. They use to have a van to take you up and down the hill - not available anymore. I would still stay there because of price, location and pools but I am also looking for new places. "New upcoming changes to Hotel Finisterra"
We have been going to this hotel for approx 18 years and always have enjoyed our stay. We agree with other reviews that the hotel has been running down for the last several years. Well, things are about to change. While we were here a new company has come in and taken over this hotel and let go (fired) approx 60 employees. It was a very sad time for […] us because we have become good friends with many staff members and it was really hard to say goodbye to them possibly for the last time. There are big plans for remodel and new construction here from what we gathered talking to people there. The new group is called Sandos if our information is correct. We have 3 more weeks booked later this year and timeshare people could only tell us that in 1-2 months we would be getting information regarding plans for the hotel. We love this place and hope the new owners do improve the complex and hope for a better future for those who are still there. Our prayers go out to the family and friends that have had to move on and hope for the best for all of them. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Finisterra has taken a turn for the worse...."
This is the time we've stayed at Finisterra and the first time (6 years ago) was FANTASTIC! This time around, we left disappointed. The service was fine, but the rooms left a lot to be desired. We upgraded to a newer section Marina view (view was GREAT!) but the first night we were there, there was a huge cockroach in my bed!!! Needless to say, we changed […] rooms. I understand bugs exist in Mexico, but not in my bed. The 2nd room just seemed dirty as a result of my experience from the first night. I didnt sleep very well the rest of the trip. Also the food was ok. I wouldnt highly recommend it, but would say its worth going into town to eat bc usually the meals and variety is MUCH MUCH Better. we like to venture out so that was fine with me. ""More focus on detail""
Sirs; Little issues that make hotels great were somewhat lacking this trip. There was never tissue in the tissue holder. Food service items were left unattended on the low walls of the corridors, and a general untidyness is starting to be evident. Staff is friendly but we resented our request to be taken immediately to our rooms ignored as we were subjected […] to high pressure to attend promotions and the like. We would have been pleased to listen if it could have been on our terms, as it was we never attended. The pools were nice and the service folks very efficient at the poolside bar and cafe. "You Get What you Pay For"
Location was excellent. Room was clean but needed a facelift. Pools were not heated. Hot tubs were not heated! Price was good but if you are not going to heat your pools and hot tubs then people are going to spend their money somwhere else. Staff was good. Many of the amenities like the gym, spa, and restaurants were closed. They had a shuttle van that […] would take you down to the bottom of the big hill and also bring you back up if the van was there at the bottom waiting. The best thing about this hotel was its location. You are a five minute walk to the marina. You can take a taxi to anywhere in town from the hotlel for only $6 dollars. Water taxis are also available at marina to take you to medano beach and lovers beach for about $4. The main reason my wife and I stayed here was the price during the xmas time and the location to town. There are nicer hotels with better amenities if you are willing to pay more. "LONG STEEP WALK DOWN & UPHILL TO MARINA NOT GOOD AT NIGHT"
Would not recommend this hotel for single people if you want to socialize or meet new people. Hotel was empty when I stayed mid July so gave me a lonely feeling and I couldn't wait to leave after my 3 night stay. Might be ok when hotel is much busier. Pool and swim up bar is very nice but all couples or familes, no singles. Walk to marina at night is […] steep and dark, yet seemed too close to take shuttle to bottom of hill when offered. Upon checkin I was requested to put $300 on my credit card (for food/drinks in advance I was told by reception) plus provide detailed personal information which I declined all of, and glad I did (even after I was told others do when requested upon checkin?) Bank machine is conveniently available onsite if you want to pay as you go with pesos instead. Also, it is true, as I read in another review, as trivial as it sounds, there was no tissue provided in the room or coffee - even though a coffee maker was in the room. View was very nice from my room (ocean view out front & rocky montain view at back.) Wi fi was available in lobby not in room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
