Unless the price for this hotel is more than 30% less than downtown hotels, don't stay here. Instead pay a little more and stay closer to central Cairo. Any money you save on the room, you'll spend on transportation. This, even though Cairo taxies are cheep Hotel is modern and clean. Most service staff are helpful. Free Internet isn't really free. […] Internet unexpectidly died. Front desk said I'm only allowed three hours of free internet by order of the manager. I argued that free means free throughout the stay. After two hours of debating, the front desk person agreed to activate the internet for 48 hours, the duration of my stay. Hotel actively participates in the Cairo and Egypt extortion campaign. Within 10 mintues of checking in, the bellman was making me under-the-table offers for tour and transportation service. On checkout the hotel's official taxicab coordinator asked me whether I wanted the hotel to call me a cab or get one myself outside. He said the hotel's price is 130 Egyption Pounds. He winked as if to suggest "go outside, you'll get a better deal." So I did. Another guy from the hotel followed me outside and asked me quietly, "how much do you want to pay?" Clearly he knew that I'd offer something less than 130 Pounds. I offered 100 Pounds. He said "how about 110." I said "105." He said okay and stopped me a taxi. Remember, this was a hotel official. "I wouldn't go back even though the hotel was beautiful."
When I arrived at the hotel I was given the "royal" treatment. Assistance with my bags, friendly, effiecient, and prompt service at the front desk, and the bellman offered to arrange a tour of the Giza Pyramids. The hotel is beautiful (however is in a disgusting neighborhood - garbage everywhere). I had some difficulty getting an adaptor for my plugs, […] but the bellman managed to get one from the front desk (after I asked them 4 times for one and they kept telling me to call housekeeping - who told me to call the front desk...). The food was pretty good in room service and average for the breakfast buffet. I was not impressed with the "taxi" service in the hotel. Although they were friendly and available for a "drop of a hat" drive - they overcharged by at least 30 Egyptian pounds to the airport and pretty muched "scammed" me on the "tour" to the Giza pyramids and Egyptian museam (they charged me 320 pounds for the car/driver). I could have taken a cab to both places for about 25 pounds each.... Barcelo Pyramids hotel is a wolf in sheeps clothing - be on your guard. "Close to the Pyramids, but not really close"

"Stay at five star instead!"
The hotel itself is 4 star but the location is scary. The hotel driver told us on the last day that the buildings behind are brothels. The airport transfer cars are old. I used the hotel tour desk and they dropped us off with the dodgiest people to do pyramids. I had asked the hotel how much pyramid tour would cost and he wouldnotgiveme an newer telling […] me I had to barter. I asked if the drivers could help do that and he said es but they disappeared as soon as they dropped us off. The tour people made me feel very unsafe. The hassled us constantly during the tour about giving more money even though we had given generous tips too. They rushed us t the pyramids and gave us very little information. I would recommend staying in five star hotel as they would deal with a professional company. We Stayed five star for rest of our trip in middle east and it was a totally different experience... Safer and professional with knowledgable guides organised. Otherwise... Stay at the hotel but organise transfers and tours with a outside professional company yourself. Breakfast was very good. "Missleading!!!"
The BC Pyramids hotel was nice and clean, but did not live up to the standards we were expecting. The staff was quite rude and hungry for tips. The airconditioning in our room did not work. Of the 3 restaurants on site, only 1 was actually open the entire week we were there. And you need the hotel restaurant because there is nowhere to eat nearby meaning […] more taxi trips which are quite expensive. A warning for anyone using the taxi/tour service located in the hotel lobby. One guy, I didn't catch his name was quite helpful and honest. He explained their price sheet and worked with us from there. The other tried to dupe us and threw out some outrageous prices and never even pulled out his price sheet. Luckily we knew what to expect so we didn't work with him. Just make sure they show you the prices on their print out sheet!!! But really, if you want a good tour company we highly reccomend Memphis tours. They were amazing. We contacted them on very short notice and they were prompt and efficient in replying and arranging every thing we wanted to see. Our guide Turk was very knowledgeable and so fun. "Not that impressed for a four star hotel"
Location was good, close to pyramids, although very noisy. Some staff very friendly and helpful and others don’t even know how to smile. Language is definitely a barrier as they cannot answer the simplest of questions. We booked two excursions with him that were very costly and felt very rushed by the driver who took us to the Giza pyramids. Отель произвёл не очень хорошее впечатление .Персонал на ресепшен не очень приветливый. Были проблемы с интернетом в номере, я объяснила, что нужен интернет постоянно на все время пребывания, но мне продали за 10$ карту на 1 час пользования. Когда я это поняла, спустилась на ресепшен и задала вопрос, почему не работает интернет мне объяснили что проблемы […] у меня. На следующий день через друзей, которые говорят на арабском я всё таки выяснила что карта всего на 1 час. только после этого мне предложили оплатить 150 единиц местной валюты чтобы подключить сеть постоянно, интернет работал 4 дня после этого опять начались проблемы. На ресепшен постоянно делали вид что не говорят по русски и плохо на английском….НО!!! когда возникла проблема с доплатой с моей стороны персонал тут же начал говорить на русском языке))) в номере почистили пол только 1 раз за 2 недели…в номере очень холодно ,обратилась на ресепшен с этой проблемой сказали « просто отключите кондиционер» )))) вытяжка в ванной комнате не работает .Персонал в кафе в холле хороший…Район не спокойный …вид из окна ужасный. Вообще не являюсь привередливым человеком и путешествую мало….но такого обслуживания ещё не видела ,за все время пребывания было очень неприятно общаться с сотрудниками отеля на ресепшен.
