The Portland Arms

Friendly service, clean rooms. very well positioned for all the must see sights. Was unaware that it was a shared bathroom but as there are only 3 rooms this was not a problem. Would and am planning to stay again.

This inn was in a nice location reasonably close to the town and very close to the river and a park. It felt very safe and was in a very pretty space. There are also some shops nearby including a somewhat overpriced co-op and a boots, and we would often have breakfast at a really nice cafe we found there. The inn was very nice and welcoming. The room […] was quite small but it was comfortable and the TV had freeview! The bathroom is shared and so could sometimes be a bit messy and you could end up waiting for ages if someone is particuarly enjoying their shower, but there isn't anything the owners could really do about that! Live music is frequent at the inn. In our case this was really good as we enjoyed the variety and liked seeing the band. From our room the music could be heard really quite clearly - again, this was okay for us as we enjoyed the music but if you hate noise this might be a problem for you! The inn served food. We didn't actually try any of it but there seemed to be a good variety. They don't do breakfasts but there is a nice little cafe nearby which does great full english breakfasts, and the pub across the road does them too. Read more

Cuando llegamos no habia nadie para atendernos. Ni podiamos entrar. La habitacion no estaba mal y era acogedora pero formaba parte de un bar con musica en directo con lo que la habitacion estaba a dos alturas de los musicos, supongo que entre semana sera mas tranquilo pero nosotros fuimos en sabado y horroroso. Ce n'est pas du tout un 3 étoiles !!! C'est une petite auberge mal insonorisée comptant 3 chambres avec salle de bain partagée sans même gel douche ni shampooing se trouvant au-dessus du bar du quartier. A éviter sauf si vraiment très bon marché juste pour passer la nuit. Vraiment déçu des informations données sur le site.
