Strathcona Hotel

I stayed at the Strathcona hotel for four days, three nights. I originally booked a smart queen room and I so only contacted the hotel asking for a room on a higher floor of the hotel, while they did not offer these rooms on high floors, they upgraded me to an executive queen room so I would be on a higher floor as requested. There was parking about 30 feet away from the hotel, restaurants around every corner, and not to mention attractions just blocks away. The room was small but it was a good size for two people. The room was fairly clean, I had no complaints about that either. I guess my only complaint would be that my first night there the fire alarm went off but other than that, a great experience overall! The Strathcona hotel has gorgeous rooms at reasonable rates. The rooms have a futuristic look to them, but are very comfortable as well, unlike other "modern" style locations. It's also walking distance to the metro, and reasonable walking distance from many good restaurants and shops. The Pub downstairs has delicious food & great service as well!

It was in a very convenient spot in downtown Toronto. Within minutes walking distance to the waterfront, shopping and many great restaurants. The one shortfall of the room was its size, quite cozy, and compact.

Once we arrived, we were told there is not parking associated with the hotel and there is an underground lot around the corner which was very expensive. Very modern and sleek design to this hotel. Very comfortable beds. Close to all the downtown action. Only stayed one night, but would go back again. Hotels.ca made it very easy to book last minute and for a good rate.

This is a cozy hotel in a nice neighborhood, close to everything we wanted to do (CN Tower, Rogers Center, Queen Street, King Street, St. Lawrence Marketplace). We were able to walk to everything. Parking is not at the hotel and is a little expensive, but we never had to pay for public transportation.

This hotel is in the heart of downtown and close to tons of stuff - the baseball stadium, CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame, etc... We were able to walk everywhere, which was great. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. While I was on the phone booking, the rate increased by $40 and the lady told me there was nothing she could do about it. The room was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. There was no parking, so I had to pay an extra $30 for parking. And there was no breakfast or ANYTHING included. So I have no idea why […] the price was so expensive. It was definitely not worth the money spent. I am very unimpressed. We chose to stay here the night before heading out on on early train for Montreal - the location was ideal, only a 2 minute walk across the street to Union Station. The room was very small (we were in a smart queen) and the window looked out onto nothing so it was quite dark. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

I spent the night at the Strathcona for a little romantic getaway and it was perfect. I found a deal online which was a good price and it was close to all the attractions we were going to. The bed was a smaller than I had expected because I ordered a queen size bed and it was actually a little smaller than a double because they are the older bedframes. The bed was super comfy though! No we didn't have a flat screen TV but it had lots of channels and a clear picture. The best part of this experience was the staff! They look up restaurants and movie times for us. The location is excellent; however, the rooms are small, the towels are scratchy and the walls are VERY thin. Be prepared to intimately know your neighbours at the end of your stay. Ask for a room NOT facing the courtyard, otherwise daylight will never appear. Next time I'll throw in another $20 and stay at the Royal York.

The hotel was in a fantastic location, 5 mins from cn tower and air canada centre, staff were very helpful and rooms were clean and laundry changed regularly. I booked an executive room and was not allowed to check in as i did not have a credit card for deposit, so i got moved to a standard room as this is the only room in Which you can leave a cash […] deposit! We checked in and were offered an upgrade which was not actually available that night. The room originally assigned to us was being used by other people-(a maintenance crew?) It smelled strongly of paint/bleach perhaps. The bed was unmade when we arrived. The rooms are tiny with laminate flooring. Easy to maintain but noisy. We could hear fellow guests […] walking in the rooms around us. The bedside tables have built in lights which cannot be controlled individually. A small point, but important when your partner likes to read at night and you may not. One small office chair does not really even allow two people in a queen room to have a drink or a snack together without sitting on the bed. Overall I felt we were charged too much for very little comfort. I would not go back to the Strathcona, nor would I ever recommend it. My partner and I both feel the hotel should be promoted strictly as a budget hotel in a great location. Read more

The room was bright and cheerful, very clean, and comfortable. This was a very convenient location, where the Porter airport shuttle drops you off for free right across the street from the Hotel. It's also right on the subway line, surrounded by the fun atmosphere of King St and Queen St. Great stay and at a great price.

The Strathcona was an excellent hotel. The rooms were clean and bright. Felt more like my room at home than a hotel. The only issue with this hotel is parking. Hotel does not have a provate garage and had to rely on public parking. Other than that is was a fine hotel and will be sure to stay there again.

Good things about the hotel; it was clean, the check-in girl was nice and it's right by the CN Tower and the Rogers center. The bad things about it; it was smaller then we thought it would be. The ceilings were quite low and the room was really small. It was like we were in a basement. I slept fine but my fiancé was woken up threw out the night by the […] cleaning lady. At around 5am she broke something glass in the hallway, and you could hear her cleaning in the other rooms around us. I got woken up at 6am and could hear her using a spray bottle in the other room. The door and the walls are very thin, not a lot of privacy in that aspect. We parked in their parking lot and came back to pay for more time after the football game; but it wouldn't let us get another ticket. We drove out and tried to come back in but it was closed so we had to go somewhere else to park for the night, which was inconvenient. Hotellet låg nära till många sevärdheter och shopping :) Billigt och centralt läge. Superbra att det fanns en person som bara jobbade med att tipsa om utflykter och sevärdheter! Det negativa var taxin som vi bokade via hotellet till flygplatsen.
