Centuries ago, Hawaii's rulers escaped to the northwest coastlands of the Big Island to forget the cares of kingly life. Today, Paniolo Greens resort invites guests to follow in their footsteps. The resort features an outdoor pool with a sundeck surrounding and recreation and fitness centers adjacent.
Hula lessons and craft classes are offered at the recreation center, and there is a full kitchen and a furnished dining balcony for parties. Several gas barbecue grills are located on the property for guest use. Other amenities include a tennis court, horseshoe pit, and spa tub.

I am not sure why others rated this place so high... the only bargain is the price - the place is somewhat old - probably built in the 80's and many things have not been updated.. carpet was worn & dirty, bathroom was dirty...had to pay extra for air conditioning... they are billing me over $300 extra for no telling what - they were supposed to send […] me a folio to my email but I am still waiting on it... we won't stay there again ! "Great alt. to over-built Waikoloa beach complexes"
We had several friends staying at the Marriott on the beach, ~5 mi away. We MUCH preferred our spacious, quieter, less touristy, and lower priced alternative. Paniolo Greens was a convenient meeting place for all before setting off for all destinations on the north, central and east side of island (like Volcano Pk).
