Florence was our third city on this trip. We arrived at Hotel Panama for a 4 day stay and the owner immediately helped us plan our visits to the city. We also purchased tickets for a day-trip to Sienna from the hotel. Breakfast was just fine and coffee strong as needed. Our room was clean and spacious, especially with the balcony. The bathroom was a little cozy, but that didn't bother us much. Breakfast was pretty standard, although we wished they had eggs. The hotel itself is very nice, well priced and clean. The breakfast buffet is decent and there is free wifi with a reasonable signal throughout the hotel. The only downside is that it is located 1.6 kilometers from the Duomo and anything else you're likely to want to see in Florence. That includes restaurants, convenience stores and laundromats. I thought from the advertisement that there were bath tubs with every room, but when I checked in they said only a few rooms had tubs. The rooms however were nice but the shower we had didn't drain too well but the hotel maintenance repaired in a timely mannor. Breakfast should be included but wasn't. For the 9 euro we would have had to pay for the […] cold ham and cheese we did better off getting breakfast at the supermarket. Overall the hotel is nice and clean rooms are big, bathroom small. Very friendly and helpful staff. They went out of their way to assist. Convenient location. A very short bus (10 min) or taxi ride to the historic center and to the train station. The only reason I give them a 4 is because the cleaning of the room could have been better the 1st day. Other than that it was worth the money.

I checked into the Hotel Panama late in the afternoon and after completely unpacking and settling in the room, noticed that it was extremely warm. I went to the desk and was told that the air conditioning was not working and would "probably be fixed the next day". Hotel Panama exceeded all our expectations for a typical city hotel. The free wifi, which is often a bit jammy in areas, was available in all areas of the hotel and a password was given to us before we had to ask for it. We had emailed ahead requesting to be in the annexe, which other reviewers have mentioned as a quiet area facing a courtyard. Those […] rooms were booked up, so the hotel moved us into a suite with its own private courtyard and jetted bathtub on the fourth floor. The breakfast each morning was average to good. Coffee was made to order and tasted good. (Don't expect any crazy Starbucks-esque concoctions, though.) The Saturday and Sunday morning spreads were substantially bigger and better than Monday's, which ran a bit low on croissants and cheese. We didn't use them, but the hotel also offers free bike rentals -- a great offer considering the hotel isn't in the city centre. We found the location easy to find (about 15 minute stroll from the main train station) and in a quiet neighbourhood. There aren't any small local shops nearby to pick up bottled water or wine, so expect to take a little walk. Via Nazionale was a good source of nearby food and amenities. (Mostodolce and Osteria Il Brincello, in particular!) If we ever come back to Florence, we'll definitely stay here again. Read more

Hotel Panama is a excellent hotel if you prefer a quiet and peaceful atmosphere over the busy city centre. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. They helped us with finding our way in the city, with restaurant recommendations and tips on where to venture along after our stay in Florence. On our second night we experienced a foul smell in […] our room and complained to the staff. We had to change rooms, the staff carried our stuff to the other room and for our troubles we got a deluxe room instead =) Very much appreciated! The hotel has a free WiFi which works fine throughout the hotel. They also have a stationary computer (Mac) in the dining room. We got help with printing train tickets from the lobby, good service! The hotel breakfast is a typical Italian hotel breakfast, which unfortunately means that most of the food contain much sugars. Fortunately they have some good muesli and their coffee machine is awesome! At the back of the hotel they have a number of tables and chairs set for the breakfast. Even though some of the breakfast is not the best, in the end it is very comfortable to sit out back on a summer morning listening to the classical music played from the speakers while sipping your coffee of choice! They have bikes that you can borrow for a 20€ deposit, but we never tried them out. The hotel is about a 15 minute brisk walk or 20 minute casual walk from the main sights of the city. Close by you find the famous Gelatera de' Medici. Every night after our city adventures we stopped there for wonderful gelato! We stayed in Hotel Panama for 7 nights in July 2011. Read more

It is in easy walking distance to the station and many of the tourist attractions. Stayed for a long weekend with my gf. Location was about 10 mins walk from the main attractions, and about 20 mins gentle walk to the main railway station. Hotel is on a main road, so a little bit noisy from our ground floor room. But, good neighbourhood, quiet and safe. Air conditioning made some noise during the night which was a distraction, and […] the bathroom was very small but manageable. Breakfast was as expected, continental. All the staff spoke enough english for us to get by, and the main receptionist spoke excellent english and was very helpful with attractions and local transportation. Hotel made reservations for us for the next day at the Accademia Gallery. Very helpful! Buses 12 and 13 bus-stops very nearby, going into the city and stopping at all the main attractions in Florence. Free internet on the only computer in the hotel. Bonus! Overall, worth staying at. Særdeles vennlig og imøtekommende personale! Gratis utlån av bysykler, bare depositum for låsene. Stort rom i fin og fredelig bakgård, dessverre var det ikke spesielt rent ved ankomst. Ut over det har vi ingenting å utsette på Hotel Panama som vi syns var et kjempekoselig hotell der vi stortrivdes.

Adorei o hotel. Limpo e com todas as facilidades (tv a cabo, free wi fi, secador de cabelo, mini bar). Poder emprestar bicicleta gratuitamente e pedalar por Firenze a noite foi especial. Intet at klage på (bortset fra morgenmaden som ikke lever op til skandinavisk standard, men det skyldes nok snarere italienske traditioner). Afstanden til centrum er perfekt; intet problem at gå men langt nok væk til at slipper for larmen. Også er ejeren meget høflig og snakker godt engelsk:)

Vi bodde på Hotel Panama i 3 nätter och vi är riktigt nöjda med vår vistelse. Hotellet låg i gångavstånd från tågstation och centrum i ett lugnt och trevligt område. Det bästa var dock att vi fick låna cyklar av hotellet, vilket gjorde att vi lätt kunde ta oss fram överallt på kort tid. Det var väldigt mysigt att cykla runt bland det trånga gränderna. […] Första kvällen gick vi fram och tillbaka från centrum och det tog ungefär 15 minuter enkel väg, så för de som inte vill cykla är det ändå ett bra läge. Frukosten var bra, precis vad vi förväntade oss men kanske inte enligt svensk standard. Man fick en cappuccino, yoghurt, müsli, rostat bröd, ost, marmelad, massa kakor och annat. Et lille fint 3 stjernet hotel, som ligger ca 15 - 20 min. gang fra Firenzes centrum og station. Hotellet ligger i et roligt kvarter nær en skøn park. Yderst venligt personale som var behjælpelig med oplysninger om offentlig transport og lignende. Et helt OK hotel til prisen, vi kommer gerne tilbage.

Superbra service. Liten mysig uteservering för frukost, med egen barista- gott kaffe och croissanter! Stort rum med egen balkong mot gård. Luftkonditionering. Gratis WiFi på rummet och en iMac att surfa på nere vid frukostrummet. Promenad till centrum på ca 20 min och busshållplats runt hörnet. We really enjoyed our stay in Panama Hotel. We stayed for 5 nights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room. Computer connected to the internet you could borrow. Only plus there, specially for the money you spend (cheaper compared to other hotels closer to centre). The only "negative" thing was that the location, although nice, […] was a bit to far from the centre. After spending the day just walking around the city, we wanted to go home and leave the stuff we bought during the day and return to the centre to have a nice dinner. The walk back and forth got a little annoying after 2-3 days. Got a bit tired of it. You'll have to plan your walking a bit better. You just dont run to the hotel to leave the 4 bottles of wine you just bought so you wont have to carry them the rest of the day. You buy the bottles on your way home instead.. So planing is the keyword! :-) Overall a very good and clean hotel worth its money! Read more
