"Excellent for a quick stay in Firenze"
We spent one night here and would return again with pleasure. Lovely, if small, room with large door opening onto tiny terrace with a special view of the Duomo. Very much enjoyed the roof-top bar, again with that spectacular view. Have a Negroni! Well-made. Parking immediately next to the hotel. Bed was comfortable, shower was fine, room was clean and […] inviting. Staff was very helpful with one small exception. A few days before check in, we asked the clerk to make a reservation to visit the Uffizi first thing so we could avoid the lines. Seemed like that slipped past whoever was supposed to handle that. So we skipped the Uffizi and strolled around Boboli Gardens, Ponte Vecchio, etc. etc. Where can't you find beautiful things in Firenze? We would stay here again without any hesitation. 5 minutes walk from Firenze SMN station, which was convenient. Very clean. And quite roomy for a hotel in Europe. The view was very nice, you can see the Duomo from the hotel, and they have a balcony and you get hear the church bells ringing --- beautiful. "Lots of heart in the heart of Florence"
The name of Hotel California made us feel at home before we walked in the door, and the exceptional service of the front desk staff made sure we continued to feel at home throughout our stay. We took advantage of all the insider's tips they gave us on tourist sites, shopping, restaurants, and (equally importantly) the best gelaterias. Our quad room […] for 2 adults and 2 kids was spacious by European standards, and it was very clean and well-serviced. The continental breakfast provided an excellent start to every day, and the rooftop bar (with a serene view of the Duomo, no less) provided a beautiful and relaxing end each night. Hard to find a better combination of location, amenties, and service for the price. We are especially grateful that the proprietors steered us to the Yellow Bar for some of our best meals in Italy! The only suggestions I would have for improvement would be waiving the charge for WiFi and providing two dedicated queen beds rather than 4 twin beds. No biggee. I was originally a little turned off by the chamois-like towels, but found that they actually dry better than fluffy ones. The lighting took a while to figure out as well (doesn't work if the key card isn't in a slot by the door), but I can see how that can save on electricity when guests aren't in the room; that electrical set-up limits your ability to charge electronics while you're gone, which may be an issue for some. We are an older couple in our late 50's. Easy walk from rail station and close to major attractions. Room was refreshing and clean. This hotel had the nicest and largest bathroom of all the hotel's we stayed in while visiting Italy. The bath towels were large but very different for what we use in the USA. "PERFECT location!"
This hotel was definately the perfect location. A ten minute walk from the Station so we didn't have to cab it, and the hotel itself (although may seem dingy on the outside) was so close to the Duomo that you could step outside and actually see it. My wife and I booked 4 days at Hotel California. We could not have had a better stay. The hotel is very close to everything in the old city and we walked everywhere we went for the 4 days. The room was clean and fresh with clean towels every day. We had good view of the Duomo dome. The individual air condition unit was wonderful as it let my wife set […] the room conditions exactly as she wanted. One of the high points of this hotel is the attentiveness of the staff. This hotel is located in a great location between the duomo and the museum that house the statue of David. The room we had was spacious, and included a fresco on the ceiling. The hotel entrance is off a passageway and reception is on the 1st floor. The reception hall is magnificent and so is the roof top bar which has views of the churches dome. You […] can purchase a bottle of wine for 8-12 euro and watch the sun go down. Breakfasts were typical for the country, with no cooked items but they would cook eggs to your liking for a fee.
