"Wowing room"

"Please read befor booking, a nice theme, but..."
This hotel wants to evoke the theme of the old Cusco neighborhood in which it sits, and the floors of stone with the semi-open air lobby are really pretty cool. I can even go along with the theme that they did not want to re-wire the place to preserve the theme of the original building. I think anyone looking for a place that evokes the past, as suggested […] by the name, would find this place interesting, but here are some facts of which you need to be aware: In the room, there is no telephone, there is no radio, there in no television, and there is no internet. If this is a good thing for you, then you might like this place. The internet is free in the lobby, but it only works in one corner of the lobby, not in the restaurant and moving a few feet drops the connection. Breakfast - don't expect it to be ready at 6 as promised. This is, in part, cultural, I think, but usually at least the coffee is ready on time in other places I have stayed. Breakfast is really pretty lame when it is ready: butter, jam, bread, mystery cheese and a bit of fruit as well as some cereal. Let's call it a lean version of what you would find in a US budget hotel. While I was trying to sleep in a bit on a morning that I did not have to be up early, they were refinishing the wooden floors on my level - I'll leave that sound to you imagination. I know that remodelling is part of the business, but this was a bit absurd, and it demonstrates the general lack of attention to customer service. Actually, I am hoping that the management reads this, as the hotel could be pretty cool with better customer orientation. I really did not care about the lack of the phone and TV, and at least I was able to find the corner where the Internet worked, but the rest of the experience made me feel like my staying there was an imposition. "Great Location and Clean Rooms"
This hotel is but a 3 minute walk from the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. Great location for tourists who are looking for a clean hotel with free wifi and clean rooms. The hotel restaurant is quite good too with nightly performances.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointed... it could have been great!"
We, two couples, arrived at this hotel to stay three nights before doing the Inca Trail, and had booked 2 nights after. To allow ourselves some luxury, we upgraded the standard rooms to superior rooms for the 2 last nights. When we came back late in the evening after the Inca Trail, the rooms we were offered were to our dismay the exact same type as […] the ones we had had earlier. Our friends, however, were given a much smaller room! When asking the receptionists about this, the female receptionist explained that this was because we had had problems with cold showers with our prior stay...! None of the receptionists were very eager to fix the problem, but told us they could set us up with a new room the next day. Only when threatening to have our money back, were our friends put in a bigger room. This was apparently the Inca Suite, the nicest type of room they offer. Good. We also found at then that for our first 3 nights, we had - without being told - been given Superior Rooms instead of Standard Rooms. Our disappointment come from not being informed, as we were expecting better rooms for our last 2 nights. Basically, service at the hotel is lousy. Our stay could have been so much more positive if the staff was friendlier. We could not help feel we were in the way somehow, or had done something wrong. When complaining about cold showers, or a bathroom light that was constantly flashing or even about the mix-up of rooms, we were only met with a less-than-postive attitude. The night porter was more friendly, but seemed to lack the authority to get things fixed, and had to call his boss for confirmation. Too bad. Breakfast is good, though! "Cold showers and lousy service"
While the hotel itself is quite nice and situated close to the city centre, we were very disappointed to find that showers offered cold, or at best luke-warm, water. Even worse, when complaining, the receptionist came to our room, put her hand under the shower and confidently said the shower was warm. That's service for you! In the bar or restaurant, […] prepare to be patient. Even though none of them were ever busy when we where there, the bartenders, waiters etc. (there was no lack of personell) took forever to expedite our orders. Even a drink or a coffee would easily take 15 minutes or more to arrive after ordering. In the room, we had a large installation just outside our window. I'm not sure what it was, for heating or ventilation most likely, but it was making a lot of noise like from a big fan. Very annoying when trying to get some sleep! Overall we had several minor annoyances during our stay, but the biggest by far was the female receptionist's lack of service. The night porters were quite friendly and helpful; maybe if they were working dayshifts the cold shower problem could have been resolved easily. As it was, we were really quite put back by the lack of service and would recommend you look for a different hotel in the same price range when visiting Cusco.
