The only good things about the hotel was the location and breakfast, otherwise nothing good. The room was NOT clean. The lampshades were gross with brown stains on them. The toilet stopped working after a few flushes. The stove didn't work, nor did our electric kettle. The fridge in our room did not work well...froze everything we put in it. We had a room with four beds but there was only one bathroom. A major hassle for doing wazzu before each prayer. Location of this hotel in relation to the holy mosque is amazing. So helpful when you have young children and the elderly. The reception staff were very helpful and were quick to help. We were a family of four and reached Madinah around noon time. Our room was only given to us at 5.00 pm in the evening and that was most annoying part. Though it was mentioned in the booking but we still thought they we will be accommodated and helped. "Top-notch hotel"
I stayed at Movenpick Anwar Al Madinah in July 2011. It's next to Masjid AL Nawbi , gate 15H and next to the Ladies' section. When I went to the reception at 05:00, I was told to wait 3 hours for check-in ( even though check-in starts from 16:00 the previous day ). I arrived a day late and I thought my room would be reserved for me even if I was not […] around as I had paid for it. They gave the room to someone else , i.e. making double profit grrr The receptionists are Arabs dressed in Thobes eXpedia mentions incorrect info that child to the age of 17 stays free. Actuallty, child to the age of 12 stays free.So, ensure you book a room with enough beds I grabbed a bell-boy and he had the room arranged immediately! What 3 hours?! I was in a 3-bed room and the room was very nice. It was big enough, with a toilet+shower and a small kitchen area. Facilities included : Free buffet Breakfast / central air-con / HDTV with Arabian satellite channels / Drinking glasses & cups & tea/coffee sachets / Prayer mat / Quraan / Blanket / Large wardrobe / Daily housekeeping calls to change bedsheets and towels and quick-clean the toilet+shower Rooms have intercom linked to the Masjid's prayer system and you hear the Azan. Shops are next door as well incl. Bin Dawood supermarket. We booked this hotel expecting a 4 and half star hotel but turned to a hotel which had poor customer service and staff with a very poor knowledge of English. Housekeeping had to be called multiple times before request was dealt with. Also there was a lot of noise in adjacent room which made it difficult to sleep and when the duty manager was notified […] he did nothing to rectify the situation. Beds were also uncomfortable. Also little variety available at breakfast and a delay involving the concierge and our luggage nearly resulted in us missing our flight home. Overall would not recommend mainly due to the very poor customer service. This hotel was the only bad aspect of what was otherwise a very nice and enjoyable stay in the city of Madinah.
