"Beautiful hotel; a drive from city center"
Carlton is absolutely beautiful and located right on the water allowing for majestic sights. It does require a drive, cab, or hotel shuttle services (3 euro per way per person) to get to downtown Kinsale.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Relaxing countryside hotel"
The hotel is ideally situated for anyone who wants to have a relaxing break. It is situated in a 90 acre wooded estate, unfortunately there are no walks through the woods which is a pity. It is situated 5km from Kinsale and if one has not got transport is isolated. A shuttle bus service operates but only from 5.30 in the evening. "Disappointing Service"
We recently stayed at the Carlton in Kinsale and was very disappointed with the hotel. After specifically asking for a NON smoking room at reception our room hummed of cigarettes. We phoned reception who said they could not transfer us, housekeeping would have to come and investigate. 30 mins later housekeeping arrived and immediately agreed. They "sprayed" […] the room and we were told to go to the bar and wait. 1.5 hours later somebody called us at the bar to say our room was "ready". In fairness the room smelt OK but we wasted 2 hours of a 1 night stay and not as much as an apology did we did nor cup of tea. Also, there was no hairdryer in the room and it took 2 phone calls to reception to have this rectified. The overall hotel is tired and disappointedly grubby.
