"Great location, family value"
Was everything I would have hoped for for this brief family stay, but the location on beautiful Ogunquit (tidal) river, away from the ridiculously commercialized and overcrowded town of Ogunquit, made it a welcomed respite. The grandkids played on the spacious lawn, enjoyed the pool and spa after dark, a good hearty breakfast included, and my daughter […] and I enjoyed kayaking (rentals from the Inn) on the River on the morning tide. The rooms themselves are somewhat spartan, free internet available in the lobby only (24/7), but I personally found this a great value; I'd rather my money go to the great location, the amenities and full breakfast than to a fancy room that I'll only see for a night. I just stayed at this hotel one night and thought it was good. Excellent location with the trolley so u don't need your car. That have a good bar across the street named Stutesy's Pub and Grille. We went to Ogunquit for a quick overnight stay which included seeing a play at the Playhouse. We came into town, found the hotel easily, spent some time at Well's Beach, had a great dinner at Lord's and saw a wonderful play. The room was clean and pleasant on the water side. Free van shuttle to near by beach. close to many restaurants, and shops. Great continental breakfast in the morning. You can also rent a kayack behind the hotel that launches right from there. "Pleasantly Surprised"
I booked this room last minute and it was practically the only hotel that still had vacancies. I was afraid I was going to have spent a lot of money for nothing. When all was said and done I was actually glad that all the other hotels were full. So long as your not spoiled rotten, this hotel is superb for anybody on a middle-class budget. A short trolley ride took us in and out of town and at the end of the night we had some quiet so we could sleep. We definitely recommend Kayaking the Ogunquit River, right from the back of the hotel. It is a very unique kayak location because the it is a tidal river which rises and falls with the ocean tides. We kayaked every day for an hour and during our kayak we jumped into the clean brisk ocean/river water. It was excellent. We had a nice view from the deck as well. "Cozy and Romantic"
My fiancee and I decided on a last minute getaway and I tried this place on a whim! We loved it! The location was nice, 5 minute drive to both Wells and Ogunquit Beach. Hotel staff at front desk was very nice! We booked a King room and it came with an amazing view of the marsh. The room was spacious and had a small dining area, which we used after […] taking advantage of the gas grill that was only steps outside of our room. Breakfast was very nice and free! They cooked us fresh waffles and there was hot sausages, along with bagels, boiled eggs, beans, pastries, plus juice and coffee for drinks! Not bad for a continental breakfast! I also like how there was no extra hidden charges for incidentals or damages! So what you pay to book is what you're going to pay, no hidden fees! This place felt way too nice for a 2 star! I would definitely stay here again! Only thing I can even imagine would be better was the beds, pillows and linens were clean, but mattress itself could be a bit more comfy. Overall the hotel is staffed well and ran well. It is very clean and very senior citizen service friendly. The only big flaw I experienced is that if you stay in the "back" building (by the pool); you will have to climb two or three flights of stairs. There is NO elevator for you or your baggage. Now if you have no baggage or health problems it is no […] big deal. But if you have any health issues or heavy bags, it is NOT fun. I think some senior citizens realistically could not make it to the 3rd level. The only other thing was the parking for the "back" building. You can't drive down to the that building and therefore have to park near the middle building and walk down a incline with your baggage. This room was incredibly clean, probably the cleanest we've ever stayed in. Even though it's on Rte. 1, we could not hear any traffic sounds. The bed was quite comfortable and there were enough pillows. I do think it could use some updating, but that is minor. Could have used a couple more towels, though. The view from our balcony was terrific and the option to kayak from the property was definitely an added bonus. The bathroom was a little dated, but very clean and adequate for what we required. "Great Ogunquit River Hotel"
This hotel offered everything we were looking for. It has access to the Ogunquit River which we like to kayak on. We bring our own kayaks and they let us use their launch. They also rent them if you do not have one. Their rental attendant was friendly and helpful also. She helped us understand the tide schedule to make better use of our time. We had […] a large room with a shared balcony with just one other room, which was not a problem. The view was lovely from our room and balcony. The room was clean and comfortable, with 6 large pillows on the bed. No feathers, which was great for me because I'm allergic to them. The sink was seperate from the shower and toilet, which helps when getting ready at the same time. The pool was warm and clean. The breakfast was very good and always freshly supplied. We utilized their shuttle to Ogunquit's main Beach which was great and saves on the parking fees. You can also use the trolly (for a small fee) when you miss their shuttle. We walked back from Footbridge Beach, which was not that far away. We only stayed one night, but wished we had another day off from work so we could stay longer. This mini retreat had the refreshing feel that a longer vacation brings. The natural sites, ocean and views in this area are incredible with lots of good places to eat.
