Pros: Free WIFI throughout the hotel, best breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, sausage, fruits, deli meats, cheeses, yoghurts, juices, etc.... It's a new hotel (was renovated 3 years ago) with modern designer rooms. Very close to the tram and about 25-30 minutes walk to the castle and Charles Bridge. Just excellent!! A nice boutique hotel in Smichov. Not in the best location, but convenient. At first I had a slight problem with an allergy issue regarding breakfast. Whereas the hotel is about a fifteen minute walk from the centre of Prague the accommodations and services are excellent. Breakfasts are very generous in a buffet form with choices to suit everyone. The Front Desk staff were exceptional in assisting with any wanted arrangements. I would certainly recommend it to any class of traveller.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a lovely time. We spend a lot of time visiting so only came back to the hotel to sleep - bed was very comfy and our room really quiet. The breakfast buffet is really nice and offers plenty of choice. Overall this was an excellent hotel and within easy walking distance to the castle and old town. Only minor issue is distance from the tram stop when coming from the airport - make sure you know the way and the correct tram number. This hotel is a real find. Doesn't look much from the outside but the inside is just about perfect. Our room on the 5 th floor overlooking the park, which was what we requested, was a very good size and very comfortable. It […] took about 5 minutes to walk to the funicular which took you up to the mini eiffel tower snd castle area. Walk to Charles bridge was about 15 minutes but an easy walk with plenty to look at on the way. If you didn't want to walk back by Charles Bridge you come back over the next bridge which brought you almost to the end of the street where the hotel was. Map will show you. It was also a scenic bridge to walk over with good pedestrian paths as this is a vehicle bridge. Restaurants near the hotel were good. Medussy and an Italian one nearby were good, well priced and no surprise extra service charges. Our only complaint was the fan in the bathroom was very loud. Don't know if that was just our room. A really nice hotel with extremely helpful staff. As soon as we checked in we were provided with a map and information on attractions, restaurants and transport. Our room was clean and comfortable, amazing rain head shower and huge super comfy bed. While it's not right in the centre of it all, it's certainly a very short walk to get to most of the action […] and it's very close to the castle. If you cannot bear to walk all of 10 minutes anywhere, there is a tram stop nearby that has trams running to most parts of the city. There are also a few great restaurants and bars nearby, definitely go to Olympia (yummy, cheap food, beer, and great atmosphere!). A short walk takes you to Mala Strana where there is a huge choice of restaurants. I personally wouldn't bother paying a lot more money to stay in sub par accommodation just to be right in the centre of Old Town, when you can pay less to stay somewhere really nice and only be a very short distance from the sights. We had an absolutly lovely time at the red and blue design hotel, we had been to Prague 10 years ago for our honeymoon, but this was a much better experience. The breakfast was varied and interesting. It is quite a walk to the old town square but we managed it twice a day and enjoyed the walk. It is opposit a beautiful park that leads to petrin's Eiffel tower, via some steep slopes! On to the castle. It is 5 mins walk to the new Tesco's shopping centre. We had a superior deluxe room which was clean, spacious and decorated tastefully. The view of the park was nice. The hotel is set close to all the main sites without being too close. One thing we, as Scots, found odd was that peanuts were served at breakfast so bare this in mind if you have an allergy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived late at night and had been told by a Czech lady the bus service stops and to be aware of the taxis. Thankfully airport approved taxis were available and our journey cost 500 kronas. Taxis can be arranged by the hotel at a cost of 600 krona this is a handy service. My wife and I stayed at the Red and Blue Design Hotel for one week in August 2011. Our room was a standard double on the top floor. It was modern, quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The air conditioning and WiFi both worked well. The en-suite bathroom consisted of separate toilet and shower cubicles and a wash basin within the room. Both cubicles […] were large. It would be more accurate to describe the shower as a wet room. The door to the toilet is smoked glass, but the shower door is clear. This is not a problem for my wife and I, but I could see that it might be for those who want more privacy! Such persons might need to upgrade to a more expensive room. The high standard of cleanliness was evidient throughout the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was especially good. A varied selection constantly replenished by attentive staff. The receptionists were also very helpful and pleasant. I was a little alarmed by the surrounding neighbourhood to begin with, due to the large amount of graffiti. However, I soon realized that this is normal for everywhere in Prague! You fail to notice it after a few days! Overall we were very pleased with our choice of hotel and would recommend it to others.
