Founded in 1348 by Charles IV and redeveloped in the 19th century, the New Town originally played host to Prague’s craftsmen and tradesfolk. "Best value in recent memory"
In the last 10 years, I have bothered to write maybe two or three reviews....only when I'm completely blown away by an unusually good experience and good value. Being from the U.S., I get irritated quickly when hotels screw up simple things, like no shower curtain (so water flies everywhere), or a/c controls that you need a manual to figure out, or […] a TV that's 90 off to the side of the bed. Everything in this hotel made sense and I have absolutely nothing negative to say. The price just made it that much better. The cleanliness was spectacular and the bed were so comfortable that we did not want to get up in the morning. Four nights in an excellent European hotel. Wonderful and helpful English speaking staff. Hotel restaurant has charm and a tasty menu, ( ask about piano days)... the outdoor patio is relaxing, should one chose to have cocktails or meals served. For breakfast, you have a large selection of meals. Subway is about two short blocks, also one of the Hop-on-Hop-off […] buses. Train station is one stop by metro. The city bus stop is also close. We really enjoyed the hotel. Older, but remodeled with a friendly staff, clean rooms, and a good breakfast all at a reasonable price. They have larger rooms, so it is a good place for families or groups traveling together. Green Garden Hotel is clean, well maintained hotel. The room was comfortable with room to store luggage and backpacks, while maintaining ample floor space to walk around bed and to the shower. Nice additions were the in room safe and make-up/shaving mirror in the bath. We were on the top floor which required walking up one flight of stairs, however, […] this was not an issue for us. The view from our window across the Old Town and Lower Quarter to Prague Castle was outstanding. The staff was friendly and helpful, and like most service employees in Prague, spoke perfect English. The included breakfast buffet was delicious and catered to a variety of tastes. There is a small bar that it convenient for an afternoon expresso or early evening cocktail. We did not try the hotel resaurant. The hotel is located a short walk from the subway. Prague's subway is very basic and super easy to navigate with stops at all major attractions. Buy the unlimited daily transport pass, it works for train, bus and tram. Good value. The neighborhood is quiet in the evening and feels safe. We slept with the windows open and were not disturbed. You can easily go to the old town from here. If you are visiting Charles University its a 5 minute walk from here. The only minor minus with this hotel is that the ambulances often use the road outside the hotel so if you get a room facing outwards to the road can the ambulance bother you a bit. The hotel was immaculately clean and the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately we were only staying for a couple of nights so did not have time to eat in their restaurant as we wanted to see Prague at night, but breakfast was fantastic - lots to choose from and all fresh. The hotel was only 5 minutes walk from the Metro and Tram Station and also within a 10 minute walk to the city centre. We had a Superior room, which was very comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The hotel restaurant was very good (in a beautiful indoor garden setting), and we ate in 4 times during our stay, and on each occassion the meal was excellent. […] Breakfast's were also very good. "Underbar service"
Efter att ha varit på olika platser i Europa och blivit blåsta på det ena eller det andra, eller efter att inte fått det man tänkt sig, blev denna resa och hotell något helt annat. Hotellet har en fantastiskt trevlig personal. Som exempel på service kan jag ge bartendern i baren på bottenvåningen. Han som jobbade denna kväll då vi satt och tittade […] på Arsenal - Milan visste verkligen vad service är. Jag kände inte för att dricka öl eller annan alkohol och frågade om de hade Coca Cola. Tyvärr hade de bara Pepsi. Då frågade jag efter Fanta. Fanns inte heller. Men då nickade han bara, höjde ett finger i en gest som visade "ett ögonblick... jag fixar". Fram drog han en Coca Cola-flaska. Hans egen flaska han har till jobbet. Hällde upp i ett glas med is och gav mig utan kostnad. DET är service. Alltid leende och trevlig personal. Maten var även den väldigt god på hotellet. Och vi testade roomservice med mat till rummet, vilken även den var perfekt. T.o.m. räkningen stämde på sista öret för roomservice och annat när vi skulle åka hem. Rummet var bekvämt. Sköna sängar... värmeslingor i golvet på toaletten/duschen. Kaklat och fint. Läget på hotellet är centralt. För att gå till gamla stan tar det kanske 10 min. Inte lång tid alls. Och om man inte orkar gå finns spårvagn. Bra information om allt möjligt finns i receptionen. Frukosten är som man förväntar sig av ett hotell av denna klass. Det finns allt möjligt att äta. Det enda vi reagerade på var det mörka brödet som smakade konstigt. Enda nackdelen med läget på hotellet är att det är mycket trafik utanför. Men det störde dock inte så mycket in till rummet eftersom det är hyffsat isolerat. Om man är lättstörd av sirener kan det dock bli besvärligt. För sirener hörde man vart 10:e minut... dygnet runt. Allt som allt är vi överväldigande nöjda med hotellet och vistelsen där.
