The heart of the city, Stare Mesto's historic buildings are splendidly preserved. The focal point is the cobbled main square, on which stand the Jan Hus Monument, the Old Town Hall and its astronomical clock, and the Gothic spires of Our Lady of Tyn. Linking the Old Town with Mala Strana is the Charles Bridge with its gallery of saintly statues.

The location cannot be better. 2-3 minutes walk to the Old Town square and 5 min. to Karlov bridge. 10-15 min. to Staromestska metro. And the price is reasonable. The hotel has its own restaurant. "The Hotel U Kocku in Prague"
Our experience at the Hotel U Kocku was very positive. Our room was very clean and bright, with a high ceiling, crystal chandelier, and crown molding. The bed was new and comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean. An excellent buffet breakfast was included, with the usual Czech fare ranging from scrambled eggs to a variety of cold cuts. The staff […] spoke English and was very friendly and helpful, and the location could not be more central to the major landmarks in Prague. The nights were cool when we were there, so the apparent lack of air conditioning was not a problem for us. I suspect that July and August would not be as pleasant. Also, the street noise is an issue if you choose to keep your windows open. That is unavoidable, given the excellent location and the late-night activity in Prague. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was great, breakfast was great with many choices, and the room was immaculate, very spacious and very well decorated. "Book noe annet"
Hotellet ligger sentralt, men det er absolutt ikke verdt pengene å bo der. Det er bråkete, har lite serviceinnstilt personale og frokosten var ikke noe særlig. Da vi ankom hotellet måtte vi vente i 5 minutter på at resepsjonisten skulle bli ferdig i telefonen, og vi fikk ikke et smil til hilsen engang. De pusset opp da vi skulle bo der, så vi ble flyttet […] til et leilighetsbygg rundt hjørnet (dette kunne de informert om på forhånd). Der var rommene store nok, men stedet var slitent, de ansatte utrivelige (de låste seg inn i rommet vårt mens vi var der for å få tak i fødselsdatoene våre - ikke bra!). Selv om det ligger midt i gamlebyen angret vi bittert på at vi hadde booket hotellet, og kommer ALDRI til å bo der igjen. Bruk 100 kr ekstra og bo på et mye finere hotell er mitt tips. Hotellet ligger like ved hovedgaten i Praha. Kort gåtur til severdigheter og shopping. Betjeningen var hyggelige og god frokost som er inkludert i prisen. Ved hjemreise er det bare å henvende seg i resepsjonen og de ordner taxi til en fin pris. Vegg i vegg med hotellet ligger det et lite bakeri, KJEMPEGODT! * En ulempe var sengene, vi var et kjærestepar […] som veldig gjerne vil ligge inntil værandre om natten. "Sentralt!"
Midt i en av de travleste gatene noen steinkast fra Karlsbroen. Livlig gate, men vi hadde hotelrom i 7 etage og hørte derfor bare lav summing fra gaten nedenfor. Utsikt over Prahas tak og mot klokketårnet. Rommet var stort, rent og eneste trekk var noe slitt bad og litt uregjerlig dusj. Buon hotel con un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo anche se parlare di 4 stelle è un pò eccessivo!!! 3 stelle andrebbero più che bene. Posizione centralissima per visitare Praga senza utilizzare i mezzi pubblici. Note negative: non c'è l'ascensore per cui fare 3 piani con i bagagli non è il massimo. La colazione è discreta, anche se a volte riciclano le […] brioche del giorno prima per cui risultano alquanto secche. Comunque è abbastanza pulito e lo consiglierei, e ci ritornerei pure. Colazione: abbondante e varia... diciamo non di prima qualità (7/10) Stanza (n°14 6° piano): Giusta, talvolta fredda, tanta tanta povere,pulita male anche per il check-in (c'erano bottiglie vuote nel frigo, spazzatura piena, asciugamani sporchi)... consiglio portatevi accappatoio e lenzuola-coprimaterasso-federe […] per il letto... quelle presenti son sporcheee... macchiateee! "U Kocku: Bra beliggenhet, ok standard"
Hotellet har en flott beliggenhet midt i gamlebyen. Rommene har ikke aircondition, de er kun utstyrt med vifte. Om sommeren, når det er behov for å ha vinduet åpent, er prisen for den sentrale beliggenheten en god del støy fra gata og resturanten i under. Hotellets og hotellrommenes standard er ganske langt unna å leve opp til de fire stjernene hotellet […] har fått. Hotellet anbefales hvis man legger vekt på beliggenhet snarere enn standard.
